I was a pretty regular member 7 or 8 years ago, but I fell off and am trying to climb back on. Morticia and I go way back, so I thought I would check out this team. Low carb has always worked best for me, but I am rarely truly in control of what I eat. My retired husband is making dinner every day as I am still working. He does a great job, but leans a little heavily to quinoa and rice or potatoes. I have gluten intolerance so, I d... Wed, 5 Feb 2020 13:06:25 EST Interesting Discovery! I have been playing with food trackers because I don't like how Fitbit and SP interact, and I went back to the Atkins website because I am going full keto/induction 1/1/2020. I discovered that it is now "powered by Sparkpeople", meaning the interface is the same but simplified and highlights the net carbs right there for you in bold graphics! Also what plan your on and the macros they calculate for you. I am still playing with it, but I think this is going to be my solution. Just wanted to sh... Mon, 30 Dec 2019 20:25:26 EST New to the group Hi all, I am new to this group but I have been around on Sparkpeople for over a decade, on and off. Husband and I retired in 2018 and recently sold our home and moved to a condo. I have lost over 80 pounds throughout the years but I would still like to drop another 15 to get to the elusive "normal" weight. I do best at beating my sugar addictions when I stick with low carb so here I am. Tue, 4 Jun 2019 07:23:24 EST New here! Hello! I have been eating low carb for almost a year now, have had great results - lost about 25 lbs and am now just trying to keep that off (and maybe lose another 5). Would love some daily chit chat and get to know some other sparkers!
I exercise regularly, mostly running but I do lots of other stuff. I don't mind exercise...but I do have a bit of a night time munching problem. lol
Wed, 13 Mar 2019 07:11:30 EST New here Hi. I'm new here. I'm determined to get into a right sized body by 2020. I've been overweight for the past 30 years and I'm tired of making excuses. It's time to make changes. Lasting changes. Here's to self mastery. Sun, 14 Oct 2018 22:11:14 EST Chopped Cheese Sandwich As some of you probably know, I don't like cheeseburgers unless they have bacon on them. Bacon makes everything better. I don't want things like mayo, ketchup, raw onions, mushrooms, etc on burgers. Just mustard, pickle, and lettuce usually. I use the lettuce as a wrap but it's kind of hard to do with this if you don't eat buns. I was watching the Chew one day and the theme was about things the co-hosts had tried and fallen in love with when they moved to New York City. I'm not much of a city... Thu, 16 Aug 2018 13:57:10 EST Round 2 on Atkins Hi everyone. New to group and love hearing what everyone is doing. For those of you who have given up on healthy living and weight loss or have been struggling this is the perfect time to set some realistic goals. Don't expect perfection. Rather then trying to do too much at once, try a small goal or a few small goals and achieve those before moving on. My fasting glucose level was high and my insulin resistance is high. I was told that I am on the verge of being diabetic. My PCP sent in a prescription for Metformin. I'm cynical but am always agreeable to try something simple to see if it works. Amylase is an enzyme in saliva and it helps break down carbs for digestion. According to this scientist there is a genetic factor to carb tolerance which can be easily tested. The amount of amylase in your saliva determines how high your carb tolerance is. For the test, take a salt free saltine and break it in half or if you are gluten in... Hi! I was here on this team in 2014, and lost interest because of not lowering my carbs like I know I need to. So here I go again, with more gumption to do this right! I saw someone who was doing a max of 60 carbs per day and lost the weight that way. I'm only 5'2" and have been hovering around 200# for some time now. Something's gotta give and that means me. I have a terrible sweet tooth and that has to change!! Mon, 18 Apr 2016 15:01:42 EST calories This may seem like an unusual question. Do you find yourself adding more fat to your diet to get your calories? I am trying to eat lean meats and get my carbs from veggies (no potatoes or grains). Because of this, I am struggling to get 1200 calories most days unless I add in more higher calorie items. My proteins are good 120ish and my fats are good. I am not hungry but my calories are low. Not sure I agree with that plan. If you lost any significant weight, odds are that even if you fell off the wagon, you did not gain it all back.
