Sun, 13 Nov 2011 16:14:10 EST Another Way to Look at Pumpkins This was sent to me via email today and I wanted to share with you all...

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you. He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff-- including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see. I am. I'm blessed to have a God who loves me unconditionally. I'm blessed to be alive and happy. I'm blessed for my family and kids. Sat, 16 Jul 2011 10:10:16 EST Simple prayer for today Lord, I sometimes take half-steps in my walk with you. How blessed that I am you never half bless me or half fulfill your promises. Teach me to trust in all that you promised.

In my devotional today, I read - "Half-hearted commitment leads to half measures. Can failure be far behind?"

I wonder how many of us are only giving "half" to God, fully expecting to receive his blessings in full. Do you half exercise, half follow the nutrional plan you should be following?... Thu, 14 Jul 2011 17:51:05 EST Will You Ride? Tue, 12 Jul 2011 22:18:40 EST Have you praised God today? Have you praised God today? I do everyday, but I had another extra special one. I had a biopsy yesterday, and it was determined not to be cancer. I feel like God has given me another opportunity to live each day to honor him, a chance to be a mom to my kids. Thank you Lord, I praise and honor you.

Tue, 12 Jul 2011 10:41:45 EST What is your favorite time of day to exercise? The morning? Afternoon? Evening?
I've always admired people that can get up at the crack of dawn and exercise or those that exercise during their lunch and get back to work. I'm an evening exercisor myself Mon, 11 Jul 2011 07:22:57 EST Resisting temptations I actually beat one of my temptations today. Whenever I go shopping, I always buy a candy bar at my first checkout to help beat hunger pains. Today they were tempting me...especially my favorite, kit-kat. I didn't buy it! Not only only did I say $1.09, I resisted temptation.

I have others, stopping by MacDonalds on Saturday for a quick burger (not a large one like a quarter pounder or big mac, just a hamburger), but I would stop whether I was hungry or not. I've resisted this ... Mon, 4 Jul 2011 13:07:14 EST What do you turn to when times are rough? God or Food?

Wed, 29 Jun 2011 22:39:36 EST Did you pray today? I did. It always seems like everything goes wrong all at once. The challenge today was to put it all in God's hands. I did today because so many times I felt like the devil was right on my heals.

But God will not give us anything we can't handle. Sure, it will be a test. But today I turned the test into a testimony and came out victorious! How about you? Wed, 29 Jun 2011 22:38:53 EST How to Survive Sunday Dinner One of the biggest challenges I had as a wife and mother was not over eating when I made the big "Sunday Dinner". Now that it's just my 14 year old and myself, it's a challenge scaling back to 2 what used to be for 4-5 people.

Now what happens when I make too much - it's either waste it or eat it.

How do manage your Sunday dinners? Sun, 26 Jun 2011 18:47:04 EST What happens when you have to take a break? OH my goodness!!! My son "graduated" from 8th grade last Friday and we went away for the weekend. Not only was I computerless, but I didn't exercise either. I did a bit of walking on Saturday, but then I chowed down at a buffet on Saturday night. I was better Sunday, but it's getting ramped up again..

I'm afraid to weigh myself, probably gained 20 lbs.

So my question is this, when you're away - what do YOU do to maintain your streaks? Tue, 21 Jun 2011 21:28:25 EST Favorite workout music I have few favorite songs I like to work out to - including songs by Fred Hammond and Tye Tribbett.

Do you have songs you like to listen too while working out? Mon, 20 Jun 2011 14:43:57 EST Finding joy in the little things I've been thinking today that one of the best things about having a strong faith is the joy that the simple things bring. Like knowing my daughter says grace before meals or having our morning prayer in the car before I drop her off.

Today, for the first time EVER, I had the energy and drive to go bike riding with my daughter. I had watched my daughter bike ride since she first learned...and I would take her to the park and wave as she traveled the path - feeling the wind rush a... Wed, 15 Jun 2011 21:13:40 EST Exercising on Sunday's Hi,
Single parenting is not without it's challenges. Getting the kids up and ready for church starts the day. Between getting ready for church, a full day in church including Bible study, getting home, cooking Sunday dinner - it's sometimes difficult to find time to exercise on Sunday's.

Any best practices to not let your routime fall by the wayside on Sunday?

Chin up we can do it!
Sun, 12 Jun 2011 15:00:04 EST Bible versus The Bible is full of versus tellin us that we need to hold our body as a temple to serve the Lord,

1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

How many versus can you find which tell us so?
Sat, 11 Jun 2011 16:11:17 EST FRIDAY Pslams 118:26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD. (KJV)

Fri, 4 Feb 2011 10:36:39 EST FIBER!! I met with a nutrition specialist the begining of this week. She told me to aim for 30-35g of fiber per day. Sounds pretty easy...NO WAY! I have fallen short each day since I began tracking it. So...questions
1.What is your daily fiber intake?
2.What do you eat that is high in fiber to obtain this 30g-35g per day goal?

I am interested how others reach this total daily & I'd love food suggestions to get there! Have a great day.

Thu, 3 Feb 2011 09:17:15 EST MONDAY'S QUESTION Would your church still exist if every member was as devoted as you are to tithing, attending, & helping out?

Mon, 31 Jan 2011 09:26:16 EST FRIDAY JOHN 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. I read this article this morning. It has always been my belief that a family that eats together stays together. What are your thoughts on this & how do you keep the family coming back to the table?

The thought of family dinners, where parents and kids gather around the table each night for home-cooked meals, might seem old-fashioned in these days of technology, overscheduled children and overworked adults.

But a new study from Family Circle magazine and Barilla pasta say... We struggle to have enough time for kids, work, home, & ourselves. We struggle to have enough money to provide for our families. We often focus on the "we don't haves."
There is comfort in knowing that the material "we don't haves" amount to nothing in Gods eyes. All of our NEEDS are met... Wed, 26 Jan 2011 11:26:21 EST TUESDAY'S BIBLE VERSE -ISAIAH 43:18 & 19 (KJV) 18Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
19Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert

This speaks to me on many different levels. It is telling me to let go of the past in my relationship with my ex husband, a bad day with my work, a misbehaving child, even my diet/weight challenges. How comforting it is to know that HE makes everything new ... Tue, 25 Jan 2011 09:19:20 EST BRING THIS TEAM TO LIFE I would love any ideas or suggestions for this team. Go me 244 Thu, 8 Jan 2009 19:19:39 EST Single teen mom of one Hi I am a single mom to a beautiful 3 1/2 almost four year old girl Alexia. I am 19 years old and had my bundle of joy 13 days before my sweet 16. I decided to join spark people because I am tired of not having the energy I want to keep up with my active child. I am also attending college at this time... That's about it. Mon, 29 Dec 2008 19:33:26 EST I need some advice I haven't posted here in awhile, but I feel comfortable to do so about this topic. I know we are single Christian parents. After 27 years of marriage, I am single again. Jesus is my Lord & savior. I ask Him for guidance and discernment. I don't know what to do in the dating world today. I have no concept of dating or anything. I met a nice Christian gentleman, and felt comfortable with him. We talked and he said he wanted to see me again. I speak to him through email. I am too old for... Sat, 20 Dec 2008 23:13:22 EST Hi...I am new here & newly single Hi everyone,

I am so glad I found this team. I am a new Christian, and I am going through a divorce right now. I have a 20 year old daughter, who lives with me and works 2 jobs and goes to college (finally). Her father walked out on us in May of this year, to be with a much older woman, who he says is his soul mate. I was married for 28 years. Through brokeness, I surrendered to Jesus Christ, and the Lord is carrying me all of the way. I was laid off from my job about one month... Sun, 16 Nov 2008 22:55:57 EST introduction Hello, just decided to start actually working my program yesterday. I joined Spark People over a year ago but never actually did anything with it. I was taking prescription diet pills and lost about twenty pounds. Have since stopped taking them and quit walking and as a result have gained all of my weight back plus some so I decided to take this seriously as a lifestyle change. Looking forward to the support and encouragement of others. Nice to meet you.
Wed, 5 Nov 2008 14:30:13 EST Dating and religion My Husband and I have been separated for 6 months, and well the only reason we are not divorced is because I cant afford it right now. And yes its over he already has a new girlfriend living with him. I became a christian after we married and well he didn't like it. I tried so hard but it just didn't work. Its hard to be excited about your savior when your constantly defending yourself from the one person you thought would love you for ever. Any ways I'm now reaching a point were dating is on... God is in control but sometimes I still find myself still looking for the blueprint.

Belle Tue, 9 Sep 2008 10:38:53 EST New! Hi everyone! I'm totally new to sparkpeople and I look foward to meeting some new people while I try to reach my goals. I'll be 21 in September, and I have a 2 (almost 3) year old daughter. I've pretty much always raised her on my own - with the help of my wonderful mom and sister. Her father has been in and out of jails since I met him, almost 7 years ago. Anyway since I've become a mom I've drifted away from my friends because they dont have kids, so it would be nice to have some adult... Thu, 28 Aug 2008 22:58:52 EST Please pray - Man shot twice in chest Please pray for the family of Jamie Lujan. Jamie was sitting at his office desk working this a.m. when someone came in and shot him twice in the chest. He is in the hospital in surgery at this time. Dear Sparkers....
Please give some advice on how to stay "on the wagon". I try to do the motivation worksheet and do what spark people suggests but the truth is it just isn't working. I've tried having motivational talks with myself and I really do want to lose this weight. I work 52 hours a week and take care of my mom along with my three kids 2,6, and 13. I don't get any child support nor does their father pick them up to spend time with them so I really don't have much oppurtunity for... Wed, 4 Jun 2008 11:05:08 EST Toddler Mealtime Prayer I do a cute little meal time prayer with my daughter, who will be 3 in September. My friend started it with her son at 3 months old. She would pray it over his bottle before he could have it.

It's a neat little way to incorporate prayer into your child's life, while showing them that God provides what they eat, giving thanks to Him, teaching them how to pray, and to be grateful for the food they eat.

My daughter and I do this little prayer at most meals...we're working o... I'm wondering how often does everyone tell their children that you love them? There is so much negative stuff going on in the world, and kids are really good at internalizing problems as though they are the cause. Several times a day, every chance I get, tell my daughter I love her. When she leaves for school, when we say bye to each other on the phone, when she hasn't done her chores for a week and I feel like yelling, I still tell her. It seems to make a difference in her attitude, and hel... Sat, 8 Mar 2008 12:13:53 EST Good Morning Hi everyone...

My name is Samantha.
