I'm Michele I am a woman in my mid 40's, gaining weight inspite of trying to be healthy and exercising. I'm sure it's pre-menopausal issues, already had my thyroid checked so I can't blame that. My Mom lives in St. Joseph MO and had no power for days, we went to get her and bring her here. She is staying through Christmas, her house was so cold but the neighbors tell us power is back now! It was a 24 hour trip, we had to drive 2 1/2 hours north of her to find a hotel room, we left our house at about 8:00 pm Wednesday and finally found a hotel at 7:30 am. It was so eerie, if any of you are in that area you sure are in my tho... I work as a dispatcher and it's intense for me. I find that no matter how much I've prepared my food for the day, I want to snack because it's soothing to me. Got some suggestions on how to overcome that?
Wed, 12 Dec 2007 15:27:59 EST Drink 32 oz after excersizing I'm finally up to 64oz.of water. Drink 16oz before leaving for work. Do treadmill for 30 min when get home, then 32oz easy. Then while watching TV do 3 sets of 17 situps(51)then 16oz easy again. I drive all day, so don't want to be making pit stops all day. LOL. Good luck to everybody here. We're on the right path! Tue, 11 Dec 2007 19:16:30 EST Has anyone ... started with their goals yet? How is it going so far?
Tue, 11 Dec 2007 18:49:11 EST Eight Glasses of water a day? WOW I have struggled with the 8 glasses of water thing. It is a lot of water! I tried something yesterday that seems to help. I use a 1/2 gallon milk jug and mix in 6 ounces of Light craneberry juice cocktail (I use the Kroger Brand). This is just enough to flavor the water, and it only cost 30 calories. You can keep it cold in the fridge, or even drink it at room temp. Works for me. I might try Apple Juice next time.
If anyone else tries this and it helps, let me know.
Good Luck! Tue, 11 Dec 2007 10:12:46 EST Newbie Hi Everyone. I'm also a newbie to Sparks and already enjoy all of the wonderful features and information that they have. I ready to live a wonderful and heathly life I would like to lose more than 100lbs but I will start with 266 to 216 for now. Hope to me alot of people with words of advice and encourgement. Mon, 10 Dec 2007 13:41:03 EST Rough weekend, anyone else? Why are the weekends the hardest? Friday I went over my calories by 400, Saturday by 1,000. Okay, Saturday is somewhat my hubby's fault. He made me 1 margarita, but I didn't have the willpower to be done at 1.

For some reason I let him influence my eating much more than I should. I'm fine on "normal" days, but on the days that he's home or home early, it all goes to hell.

Today is a new day, and I'm doing better. We'll see how it goes once he's home.

Can a... Sun, 9 Dec 2007 18:14:23 EST New to the site Hi!! Sat, 8 Dec 2007 21:25:26 EST Hi everyone Very new to this site, just found it today!
I am a single mom, my last one graduated last June but is still at home. I work full time and attend college part time.
I have not paid much attention to me, so hoping I can use this site and get this extra weight off!
Feel free to write anytime Sat, 8 Dec 2007 17:19:57 EST A great idea! I just got this idea for the 1 day Challenge team leader and it is really great. All of us have those times when we prowl around looking for something to eat. We are not really hungry, just bored or stressed or some other something. Those are the times that kill our good, healthy eating. This idea is to create a jar, an idea jar that you would put slips of paper in with ideas of things to do when you feel like this. Things that will take your mind off eating and give you somewhere else t... Sat, 8 Dec 2007 13:04:43 EST Afraid but willing Hi! I'm Nan, a 33 yr old mother of 1 and wife. I found this site a few days ago and I think it is just the tool my husband and I need to start this journey together. Our friends have challenged us to lose weight together for our group trip to Florida next July. I'm excited to have a challenge but scared. I've failed so many times, I'm afraid of failing again. I need to lose this weight for my health and my family. I'm looking forward to being a part of a supportive network of people wit... Sat, 8 Dec 2007 13:01:59 EST How often do you get on the scale? I'm wondering how many times a week you normally get on the scale? I don't own a scale, so I weigh at my mom's house. I am at her house nearly every day, but don't always feel like weighing over there, or forget that it's there. I was planning on buying one, but I'm afraid I'd become obsessive about getting on it. Maybe it's a good thing that I can't weigh every day... What do you think?

196 Sat, 8 Dec 2007 12:21:44 EST Some things that might help you. Thu, 6 Dec 2007 05:07:16 EST Journal/Blog? Just a quick question - do these both link to the same thing? I found yesterday that when I posted my first blog it appeared in my journal as well, but today when I posted in my journal, it didn't update my blog?! Not sure what the difference is, but as I wanted the entries in both I just deleted the journal entry and put it in my blog and now both my entries appear in the journal and blog. Thanks in advance! :) Wed, 5 Dec 2007 18:38:03 EST Holiday hints and tips Lets all post some good ideas to help everyone during the holidays. Here are a couple to begin with.

When you go to the mall, park far away so you get in some walking before you shop.

Eat a salad and drink water before going to a holiday party so you eat less, in addition talk with friends far away from the snacks and keep a glass of water with you sipping to keep you from snacking.

Wed, 5 Dec 2007 16:52:32 EST Starting in Jan. 2, 2008 Hi all, I'm 43, divorced 4 years, with 2 sons', 18 and 13. The divorce and the ongoing stress with my ex has taken a major toll on me physically and mentally. I have found comfort in food which I never did before. I was a fitness and nutrition advisor in my 20's and 30's. You couldnt tell that now by the way I look.... Although I joined SP now, I am setting my actual life style change start date for Jan. 2, 2008. Good luck to all of you and Happy Holidays! Tillie Wed, 5 Dec 2007 09:13:11 EST here hello to all.
