It was hot and sunny today (mid 70s) and I was hydrated and fed, so not sure what happened.

I've never done a multiple day endurance race and wonder about the calori... Mon, 3 Mar 2008 08:08:05 EST Hi from Hong Kong http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x11846x12679441 Hi folks. I was browsing around on SP looking for support and found this team. I wouldn't say that I'm an ultra endurance "runner", but I am training for an ultra endurance race in June -- Gobi March, 250k (155 miles), 6 days.

I did a bunch of endurance races in the past (10+ years ago) -- running, hiking, roller blading, etc.-- and just got back into the endurance race mindset in the past year. I've run a couple of 1/2 marathons in the past couple of months and now I'm traini... Thu, 28 Feb 2008 09:41:34 EST Hydration Packs http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x11846x12453058 Hiya kids! I'm scouting out a 50k trail that is being used for an upcoming race (TNF Bear Mountain), and need to find a hydration backpack with more capacity - mine holds only 50 oz.

Any suggestions on a women specific pack that holds 2 or 3 liters? I've been looking at the Camelbak Charm, but the new version doesn't have much storage capacity. The L.U.X.E holds 100 oz, but seems to be bicycle-centric....

All suggestions appreciated!

TIA
Wed, 20 Feb 2008 15:57:24 EST race talk! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x11846x11965533 Maybe this is a good thread? So, just ran the rocky raccoon 50 mile race last weekend. That's my sixth time on the course, I've got my 100 mile PR there of 21:58...anyway, my 50 mile finish earned me a 500 mile club fleece jacket. Kinda cool, very fun. Extremely well run race and a very good one for first ultras or first 100's.

Hope everyone is enjoying their mileage these days!
Katy Mon, 4 Feb 2008 13:15:12 EST Working my way there http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x11846x11762954 I have been running for 3 years after I quit smoking. Working on getting to my first ultra some time next year. This year has 4 marathons on tap, training for my first in about a month and an half. I have attempted two hundred mile trail runs. This year I want to get my revenge on them. I unexpectally am not moving this year and since I'm not I want to finish the Mohican 100 (June 21-22) and the Burning River 100rd August 2-3), both in Ohio. I just feel that I need to complete them before I leave in 09.

So, first, am I wanting to do too much? I keep asking m... This is my first day on Sparkpeople and I have found so much information out here. I hope I don't overload myself with bulletin board chat! :)

Anyway, I have been running since 2002 and have completed three marathons. My goals for this year are to lose weight the beginning part of the year, do my first sprint tri in summer/fall of this year and then my first ultra (JFK 50 Miler) in November of next year (09). I am contemplating a 50K this year but really want to try a ... I've got my first Half Ironman planned for June and I'm hoping I'll live to tell the tale.

This year I completed my first 50k and made a rookie mistake...I didn't take proper nutrition in the first half and nearly crawled on all fours the last 9 miles. It was awful. BUT...I'll b... Tue, 27 Nov 2007 16:59:42 EST I did it! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x11846x9745003 I finished my first ultra yesturday! A tad long, very positive reading.

http://lisasmithbatchen.blogspot.com/

My detraining/recovery period (post 100) has included a glass of red wine every evening. The amazing thing to me is I've dropped weight, I think cuz I'm actually nibbling less while savoring that glass.

Katy Thu, 16 Aug 2007 15:59:39 EST Greetings! http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=-1x11846x7324456 Hello,

I am 24 years old and have been running for 2 1/2 years. Last Saturday I completed my sixth marathon. I first decieded to do marathons because it sounded like something I would not do. I ended up finding my passion. I became interested in running further than 26.2 in September of last year when I was cheering for my Team In Training marathon coach at the 75 mile aid station of his first 100 mile race. I was drawn into the different type of energy that an ultra marathon offer... Tue, 26 Jun 2007 01:58:43 EST What's a good race for a first time ultra? http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/team_messageboard_thread.asp?board=0x11846x6909948 First I want to welcome everyone to this group. To date I have run 5 marathons (6 is on the 23rd of this month). Since September of last year I've been playing with the idea of running an ultra marathon. I plan on starting with a double marathon and EVENTUALLY participating in a 100 mile race.

Has anyone heard of a good (and fairly flat) first ultra? I hear there is a double marathon that starts and ends in Granite Bay CA. Any thoughts? Sun, 3 Jun 2007 19:53:59 EST
