Wish me luck. thanks!
Sat, 9 Nov 2019 22:02:40 EST Been down this road before Hi, My name is Brenda and I was a previous Sparkperson about 14 years ago and really enjoyed the community then. Life is changing rapidly for me and I need to keep up by getting in shape. Something other than "round". I have started an empty-nester phase of life and being single feel it's time to take care of me. Mon, 21 Oct 2019 12:37:13 EST Newbie I joined this time awhile ago, but never posted anything or got involved. At this point, can use some support from others--not getting anywhere on my own. Thanks for establishing this group, I'm going to give a shot at trying to check in (do I sound tentative?) regularly.
Fri, 18 Oct 2019 07:23:25 EST Numbers are off I use a stationary bike/elliptical for my exercise. It has a feature that tracks mph, distance, time and calories burned. I did it this morning and it said I burned 186 calories. When I try to log it in, I get 137 calories burned? Is there a way to enter my own info?

Edited to add: Never mind. I found my answer Wed, 16 Oct 2019 07:38:13 EST The No Sweet Treats Halloween Challenge One of my goals is to break my addiction to sweets. Every year, for the past 10 years, I have purchased Halloween candy "for the children"---except---I began opening those bags ahead of time and eating from them *everyday*, then replaced the bags. This year I am going *zero* consummation of any candy during this season to further break my sugar cravings and to start a new pattern at this time of year.

The challenge will begin when we first purchase the sweets to 4 weeks *after* Hal... Today I am retired and re-invigorated. I have the time and energy to do a daily cardio workout and my wife and I practice a more healthy lifestyle. I am much closer to my goal than I was 10 years past and I'm excited to rejoin the Sparkpeople community. Thu, 10 Oct 2019 21:28:24 EST Back again-hope to find the motivation to stay Ugh. Years ago after I quit smoking, I took up a hobby making websites at the same time, and driving my kids around to various sporting events almost daily. Couple all that with my daytime desk job.....I gained a bunch of weight over time. I was miserable. Lots of health issues started popping up and more peeking up over the horizon, so I knew I had to do something. Back then, I found Spark People and it was the one thing that kept me going - I lost a lot of weight, got into the best shap... Mon, 7 Oct 2019 18:38:43 EST Hello, newish person New person in the group. I have a lot to loose, but my focus is on improving health not loosing numbers. Lots to learn on making the right choices.

Fri, 20 Sep 2019 14:49:18 EST How do you blend up your Smoothies? A lot of the smoothie recipes call for blended veggies and fruit. Thu, 12 Sep 2019 10:13:52 EST Newbie alert Hi to all! Just wanted to introduce myself & to wish you all a great weekend. Just started Sparks yesterday & fumbling my way around the site (Ha!), having fun doing so though. :))) Fri, 30 Aug 2019 11:24:27 EST Time for healthy changes Hi! My weight has been going up since I turned 45, and I have decided it is time to change this upward trend. Over the past 15 - 20 years, I have lost lots of weight, but every time I reach a goal and have stopped following my current diet plan, I gain it all back, then add even more. Two weeks ago when I stepped on the scale I was 79 pounds overweight. I am hoping to not choose any diet plan, but make changes that can become lifelong changes. I'm looking forward to being a team member whe... Fri, 23 Aug 2019 11:32:49 EST New to group Hi all. I'm new to the group. Have been trying to lose weight for 20+ years. Have had undiagnosed PTSD that whole time. Now, 6 months into therapy, I believe I am finally able to do so. The trauma response will really mess with your life! Thu, 22 Aug 2019 23:00:30 EST Here for a re-boot Hi, all. I've lost more than 50 lbs twice in the last 10 years, but haven't managed to keep it off, although I am still about 35# below my highest weight. Anyway, in July, I went to the ER with what I believed to be a stomach bug (nausea and dizziness), thinking it would mean anti-nausea meds and fluids before returning home. Instead, they discovered a heart block (electrical, not vessel) and bradycardia (very low heart rate). Not only was I admitted, I was admitted directly to the ICU, and l... Wed, 21 Aug 2019 13:17:08 EST It is time for me to get healthy Thank you for allowing me to join. I had my regular appointment yesterday with my nurse practitioner to go over bloodwork and such. She has never really pushed me about my weight before, but this time she told me I have to lose some weight. My liver enzymes have been high for the last couple of times, and she has already run the standard liver tests. This implies that I have a fatty liver due to my poor eating habits. It is now imperative that I stop talking about losing weight and actually d... Thu, 15 Aug 2019 18:14:21 EST Back at it again Hi, my name is Ann I am 64 and just retired, now is the time for me. I rejoined WW 3 weeks ago and have lost 8 lbs in the first 2 weeks. I weigh in tonight, always makes me nervous no matter how well I have done,. My goals are to get healthy and reduce the arthritis pain in my knees. I know planning, prepping and journaling are my key tools to succeed.
Tue, 13 Aug 2019 07:59:43 EST Hi I go by Bree and this is my first day. It is a pleasure to meet you, but I am hoping to graduate to less lbs in the future. Sun, 11 Aug 2019 17:05:40 EST Back again Hi, everyone! I'm Ann and I rejoined SparkPeople the minute I found out I weighed 224 pounds (at 5'0) and had borderline high blood pressure. No idea what my cholesterol is, but I'm sure it isn't a good number. The first goal is 50 pounds, then we'll see. I'm glad this site is here! One day at a time :). Sat, 10 Aug 2019 14:59:58 EST need help I have been up &down with my wright loss. Anyway, back in February, I fell & could’t get up, spent the night sleeping on the floor. In the morning, I got hubby’s attention, he could get me up, so he called our son, who could’t either. They called 911. In the hospital, they took blood ( I think8 slept through it). And found I had a glucose level of 599, was anemic & septic. I was shipped off to ICU, while my son was visiting. After 3 days &am... Sat, 13 Jul 2019 01:38:42 EST I’m new..again. I recently found out that I only have a year to a year and a half left to live. I decided I didn’t want to spend that time being fat and out of shape. I’ve tried this plan more times than I can count in the past and have always dropped out, mostly because I have a hard time figuring out the food amounts and measurements. It takes bad news however to figure out your priorities, so before I go I want to be able to go to Maine and hike like I used to one more time. That will only happen if ... Excited because it is a new opportunity to get healthy and in shape and nervous because I've been trying to do the same thing for at least 2 decades. All I want now is to have a high quality of life that will allow me to continue doing the things that bring me joy. I look forward to meeting new friends in the comm... So now I’m back for round 2.

I have not totally relapsed. Some of the good habits I learned the first time around stuck with me. I still chug my daily water and eat lots of veggies. About 10 years ago I began a journey of clean-eating and working out (at ungodly morning hours) and I lost 40+ pounds... yay! I kept it off for about 2 years before work and life and emotional eating took control and I put it back on - and then some. I have tried all sorts of non-structured, organic ways of trying to get the weight back off but the truth is - I do best with struc... Fri, 8 Mar 2019 20:31:33 EST I am New Hello,
I am John. I have for years kept track of weight and sometimes (not often enough) tracked my food on this site, but keep doing that without any success of actually losing weight/improving my health. She asked "Are you still working full time as a special ed teacher working with children who have high behavioral needs?" Hmmm...Yes. "Then the answer is NO. You're eating habits are stress related. I've lost 13 pounds on my own, but have a lot more to kick to the curb. I look forward to getting to know each of you! Thu, 7 Feb 2019 19:50:26 EST What Healthy habit are you working on? I have three that are my focus. When I am on target, I lose weight. So I am refocusing on these three: 1.Drink water - aim for 8 cups a day. 2. Track my food. I won't lie to myself and I feel guilty writing down things I shouldn't eat so this helps me. 3. Get up and move 10 minutes a day! Doesn't seem like much, but it works. You will be glad you did and sometimes when you get started you keep going.
So what are your goals? and how are you doing?
