I think everyone has this problem since evenings are so often devoted to watching TV nowadays. Snacking and TV just seem to go together. I've found you don't snack when you walk, quilt, blog on the computer, write in a journal, garden, etc. There are a lot of good ideas on this thread to prevent snacking.....chewing gum, brushing your teeth, and simply focusing on your goal of not eating after 8:00 p.m. Will it be easier or harder during the summer????

Great, Pam....Especially over a 3 day weekend!emoticon
I haven't eaten after 8:00 for 4 nights but I stopped streaking yesterday in soooo many ways. Back to Day 1 emoticon for exercise and exercising my calorie limits. Oh, well, seems no harm done on the scale so I'll have to be really careful today.emoticon....Think....and focus on goals!

Good thinking if we cut out the unnecassary meals then we will consume less calories. Off to bed I go. I can have breakfast in the morning.

I'm definitely on board for this challenge. If I could stop eating after 8:00pm, I would have never gained all of this weight in the first place! Time to get back on track...

thats good to know. i used to set it at no food after 7:00 which i did ok on for a while but i found myself getting hungry again since i didnt go to bed well after midnight:)

emoticon Hi to all of you meeting the challenge!

I made it through the 2nd day. I drove to the H.S. track at 7:00 to walk for 2 hours. (I won't deny that driving to the Dairy Queen on my way home wasn't a temptation. Yeah, I refrained!) I usually walk earlier, but it was a lovely evening and I slept great. emoticon
Maybe walking in the cool of the evening will help be break the late night snacking habit. emoticon
Starting Day 3 and feel encouraged....emoticon

I used to brush my teeth right before bed. Now I brush earlier to help fight the snackies. It really helps!

Yes I will do this Challenge.... I am up a few from my goal weight so I need to get back into not eating late.... THis is one of the hardest things for me to do.. Always has been....... THis is a journey for life, and I WILL stop eating by 8 PM.....

I made it one night and a quilt project helped me make it through the first night. Mind over matter is the key. I also admitted to myself that I wasn't tracking the mindless, grab-and-go stuff I munched on - (usually not carrots or celery emoticon) and now I will be more honest with myself. Hope to see that scale budge now! The emoticonis not the emoticon. I am my own worst enemy!

For some reason I have been successful about not eating late at night. I think I am afraid I will create a bad habit and then have a tough time stopping. It can become a fourth meal of the day if you allow yourself to do it.

I finished before 8, but I had pizza. Oh well.

BODY1LIFE, I agree with you about calories in-out, the time doesn't matter. But similar to what you also said, what you do eat that late is usually not good for you. i.e. snacks. So therefore I still believe in not eating after 8.

I'm going to accept this challenge.

Last night I polished off the bag of tortilla chips - probably 7-8 ounces - and it totally blew my sodium and fat content for the day.

I heard on TV it doesn't matter when you eat calories - CALORIES IN/CALORIES OUT still applies - and you might weigh more the next morning, but that's because you haven't had time to eliminate yet. I think the truth is the late night eating is harmful because it is not eating out of hunger. It is a bad habit that can spoil the best day of healthy eating.

By accepting this challenge, I'm going to see how many calories I eliminate by breaking the habit of late night NEEDLESS munching. Maybe it will bust my plateau!!emoticon
