Thanksgiving visitors and wet weather meant less exercise...not a good combo with more food. My week was an up-down one, ending with a 135.5---3lbs less than last year...so I'm oh-so-slowly making progress-LOL!

I took the initiative to start the Dec Challenge. We are on a BLC Break and some of us will be needing an accountability weigh in place. I started the challenge and they followed me over here. I hope we all do well.

Not unexpectedly....my midweek weight is up 2 lbs. Should I still be Thankful for that Thanksgiving gathering?! Oh-YES!! and I am a little more thankful that even at my post-holiday weight...I'm still down 3 lbs from the same date a year ago!

Its sometimes difficult to remember where we've come from when we are so focused on where we want to go! Making these last 4 days of November count will still make a difference. Choose wisely and take care,

Good Job Olga... since I figure that No Gain IS a Success...and you actually dropped a bit... you are travelling a good path. Be patient and consistent!

There's a little poem by a poet Piet Hein: "T.T.T. things take time." emoticon he has some other good little quips as well... in a book called "Grooks"

Even when I was at my heaviest, I never lost 5 lbs in a month or less, so I'm really impressed with your efforts Tawney.!! Enjoy your success...and keep heading downhill...!!

MaDiddles: you know what... part of the reason we are on this Journey is so that we can live a full Life, isn't it?! I think its great you went for a good day with DD...DQ included!! that 2.5 is part of the smoke and mirrors in this Journey... transient, and will come off again soon. Have faith in yourself and carry on!

As for me... my October excesses have finally vanished. (About time!) I've seen several days with my lower September weights, so a small happy dance to celebrate my Journey!

I have been losing so slowly I felt I was on a plateau. I usually allow myself a cheat day during the week. It is usually on Wednesday after WI or Thurs. Sometimes I manage to even hold off till the week end.
This week I didn't hold off even till weigh in day. My DD wanted to go to the beach yesterday. so we went. toting the birds in their strollers. This is so much fun for me to get out. Everyone young and old seem to enjoy the birds and luv to have their picture taken with them.
We also went for lunch. I had grouper taco's (Not the worst choice) but we had a drink as well. My daughter tried to keep me from the DQ, but failed. I enjoyed the day immensely, but it cost me. I have a big gain this week.

Looks like a downward Trend is happening in this group--WooHoo!!

My week ended nicely: after one higher day early on, it was slowly downward. Last week of Oct, my average wt was 137.9... This morning my scale read 134.9...! Now to keep it down around there!!

Hi All
Week one of Nov - I continue to lose but very slowly. I haven't been drinking as much water lately. I might have to start flavoring it again for awhile.

My daughter is returning from MN, so I am excited about that. But life doesn't seem to ever be with out balance, so on the flip side I lost a very dear friend this week. I feel very sad about that, but I do have very fond memories.

Oliver, my umbrella cockatoo and I have did quite a bit of bike riding this week. Mostly to shop. We hit the health food store on Saturday. I found bags of goodie chips for only 99c. I should of left them at the store. They were pretty much my down fall this week. We also did weekly grocery shopping at Publix's. Monday we hit the dollar store. I bought quite a few things for my DD's place, such as condiments and canned goods. Oliver was in an entertaining mood and drew a little crowd, so we had some giggles n laughs.

Today is Hot Dog Wednesday at the Clubhouse. I don't usually go, but a lot of people have returned for the winter, so going to go to socialize and say my hello and welcome back. I do the same in April when everyone is leaving and I feel compelled to say my goodbye's to so many. We have a coffee clatch every Tuesday morning, but one doesn't seem to be as free to move around and talk to people.

I am really into gardening this time of year. I am running late due to the hurricane and other inconveniences, so probably will end up with only one crop this year.
I am already harvesting romaine lettuce and spinach. I expect cucumbers any day. They are doing marvelously well. I am waiting for DD to get home so she can take me to go get garden soil for the raised bed garden. I want to plant green beans and cabbage yet. The garden keeps me busy and out of trouble, not to mention healthy.

Except for 1 day, I stayed on track and worked out and lost 6/10's of a pound. I know I should feel positive about it but I am so frustrated. I feel like it's going to take me a year to get to goal weight. So, on to the week before me. I hope we all make some more progress. Have a great day!

My week is mostly holding steady. My usual exercise has been more limited--a combination of neck pain, and weather... and I'm still readjusting to the blink-blink time change. (Hate it!!) the good news: even at my current weight...I'm STILL less than I was a year ago. So a little Woo Hoo dance out here!

Failbetter: sounds like a very interesting step in your Journey: hope it works out well, and if you'd like, please share some of it with us. I do enough biking/walking that I'm probably on the verge of "athletic" but I don't do it for a living as you do. I've never thought to focus my eating on supporting my activity more.

Olga: off to a great start! I'm happy for you...and please keep inspiring us!!

MaDiddles: I haven't viewed any of the online videos you mentioned. I've a friend who is really into Forks over Knives, so I've discussed some of that. Mostly, I've found I have gravitated towards more veggies simply to keep my carbs moderately low...along the way discovered I enjoy eating them. I haven't ever embraced any philosophical motivation though in my Journey.

Hope our Inner Beings all survived the Clock Change. I didn't mind the sleep in a bit...but know its going to be depressing to have sunset so early tonight. Maybe the Seahawks will WIN and distract me---LOL!

Helloooo November!
I've been doing ok... up and down honestly... Last week 3 days under TDEE, 2 days maintaining and 1 over (but only a couple hundred calories). I'm going to try to weigh myself less this month. So, as to not let the number get me down.. so perhaps mid-month and end of month only? I'm somewhere between 111 and 114 I'd guess. It's too much for my taste, but, I'm playing the slow weight loss game plan., Since it's more about body composition at this stage, more muscle definition etc.

I've also made an appointment for a phone call with a nurtitionist who specializes in emotional eating and nutrition for athletes. I'll let you all know how it goes if you're interested?! Perhaps that was an 'overshare' ? I don't know, but I think my relationship with food, weight loss, body image etc may be a little unbalanced and I'd like to have someone to talk to about it. My husband REALLY has had enough of this particular conversation hahaha.

My mid-week weight is holding steady...so I'm pleased. Especially since I haven't been able to get in my normal amount of exercise due to rain...! (I really prefer outdoor exercise, mostly biking and walking...) I pulled some hand weights out of our closet...and put them ON TOP of my crocheting as a visual reminder to pick them up and use them before I sit and crochet in the evening. Who knows...might just get some definition in my arms, along with burn a few more calories?!! I'm already doing my floor exercises fairly consistently. Hope everyone's weekend is going well!! Monday and another week comes too soon!

A wonderful and happy November to all. May we all reach our goals this month.

My motivation an inspiration has come from watching Food Documentaries lately such as "What the Health" "Fed Up" "Forks over Knifes" There was one on Sugar as well. I found them on Netflix. I don't know how any one can watch these and not change their eating habits not just for themselves, but for their entire family.

I'm ready to lose 5 pounds this month.

For health reasons, I do follow a low carb high fat diet. It has done a wonderful job of pushing Type 2 diabetes to the invisible level.

Welcome to our informal group!! emoticon
It will be nice to get to know folks a bit, and learn how you are making your goals happen!

As for me....I don't follow any scripted "diet". I was never too thrilled with that idea. (Rebellious Inner Child?!) I've learned over the years that when I focus on meeting my macros and limit my carbs moderately then I see progress. When I 'let go" and don't pay attention, the pounds slide back into place oh-so-very-quickly....like last month... LOL! So my first goal is to reclaim my summer low number on my scale....second goal is going to be getting down the remaining pounds to where my Doctor suggested my knees would not suffer from arthritis so much!! Fortunately, I'm just starting down that road, so still pretty healthy.

Youch--3 broken bones?!! I've had foot surgery, so I have some comprehension of how much that affected your Life. Its especially difficult to even maintain weight if you had been quite active prior...not to mention the effects of taking pain meds w/food....everything just gets all jumbled up, doesn't it?! I hope your ankle did heal well...and, as you said, lets hope for nothing "catastrophic" this coming month, year ...or ever again!!

I'll be happy just to get back to where I was weight wise in September. Had been doing well, on track, and then wham--too much visiting, eating out, not enough exercise, the "autumn effect"---all conspired to let my body grab back those lost pounds. Dang it!! Time for: Onward, and Downward!!

Awesome! Thanks Patti! Both times I joined a more formal challenge very bad things happened to me that made me drop out, one of them being 3 broken bones in my ankle, so I am very much looking forward to this November challenge....and hoping nothing catastrophic happens, hahaha!

Certainly!! We will always welcome newcomers, drop ins, returning Challengers.... This is one of those very loose knit "groups" where members come and go as our needs and lives move around.

Personally, I do better not feeling "pressured to perform" as one might in a more formal challenge group or Team that has rules, regulations, scheduled check ins, etc. Discovering what will work best for you is one of the keys to succeeding on this Lifelong Journey towards better health.

Looking forward to Journeying through November with you!

Two months left in 2017 to make positive progress on our Journeys!! Many of us find this time of year difficult (!!) just to maintain...much less actually lose pounds. We also know it CAN be done with accountability and the right decisions.

This Challenge is to: set your own goal; check in when you wish...as often or not so often; be accountable to yourself(!), and let yourself be inspired by those folks who are showing us week by week that We Can Do This!
