I don't bother....just do a quick add for about 2,000 calories and call it quits. Only one meal.

Persistence is more important than perfection.

Don't assume your freedoms are assured.

If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention.

Don’t bother, just enjoy the day, food and people.

Eh, just don't. It's literally one day out of 365, it will make exactly zero difference over the course of a year whether or not you overate for one day. Give yourself a day of rest and don't stress.

I agree with Kris. At best, you are probably going to be 100's of calories off, since you don't weigh things during the chaos, or know serving size, or kept an accurate record of everything you ate.

Those few days a year where you are having a hectic day, with food everywhere, and no time to count every calorie, would simply be a chore to figure out, and the reason you track, is to see that you are in your ranges, on your plan.. these days are not on your plan.. you won't eat like this on any other day.

Other than your general sense of having done well or not, you might just want to start tracking again today.

Guesstimate as best you can. Most people don't create new dishes for potlucks, they bring some basics and staples, which means that you can find average nutrition information for them. You probably had at least a few of the following: turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, gravy, rolls, cranberry sauce, corn souffle, broccoli and cheese casserole, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, chocolate pie. Sure you might have had ham, coleslaw, baked beans or mac and cheese available, but anything that you didn't recognize a short google will usually turn up, sort of like how corn souffle has become pretty trendy the past few years. In the future you can always enjoy something so much that you have to ask for the recipe, which means you can go into the recipe calculator and enter that recipe later for a much more accurate estimate of what you ate.

-google first. ask questions later.

What Kris said. Do the best you can. If it isn't perfect, one day shouldn't make or break your path to a better you.

If you know what was in what you ate you could take a stab in the dark re estimating ingredients and enter those, OR you could just forget about tracking thanksgiving altogether and just start tracking again the following day. I often do either of those for Xmas or Birthdays (I'm in NZ so don't celebrate Thanksgiving.)

I can promise you that in the long run, not tracking that one day will not harm your weight-loss efforts!!!

I don't think I over ate, but there was a lot of different kinds of food. It was all pot luck. How do I track everything I ate on Thanksgiving?
