I track both food and exercise. The food tracking helps me stay in my calorie range and to be more aware of sodium in food, which I need to keep low.

I try to track my food consistently, not always successful, but try to be truthful even if it isn't exactly a good day. It helps when I go back to look at what I ate when I was losing consistently. I also like the fact that I can add nutrients that I want to see daily.

Absolutely. Every time I stop tracking I gain weight...I fall back on a "See Food" diet, when I see food I eat food. When I know that I have chosen to track everything I eat...I know I need to ask myself..."Am I really hungry?" Many times the answer is NO I am not hungry at all...I just saw some food.
Tracking keeps me accountable to myself now and to my future self who will be thankful that I made wise choices today.

yes, usually the foods I choose to eat during the day staying between 1200-1500 calories. Today, I decided to try the Spark meal plans for heart healthy and pre diabetic. Will see how that goes.

Every day. I plan the next day at night, and fill it in, then prep the meals, so I know exactly WHAT I am eating today. When I wake up, I cook my breakfast, but lunch and dinner are already done.

Chances of a mistake are much higher, if you just wing it.

Yes, but not consistently.
However, those times when I was tracking most consistently (especially my meals) were the times when I was losing weight consistently and sticking to my health programme consistently. I don't like to track but I can't refute the results.

Yes - I tracked for 18 months in a row after I joined.
Now I only track of my weight starts to creep up, this is the reason why I have tracked for 3 weeks, and I'm seeing a downward trend.
Very powerful tool, and it is quite easy when I use food groupings or recipes.

Maintenance Lessons Learned:
-go on with the healthy lifestyle learned in weight loss phase
-just add healthy foods gradually to stop losing
-work out every day - 30-60 minutes is enough to maintain weight and good mood
-do not try to balance overeating by extreme workouts, it is not going to work
-avoid overeating, instead of satisfaction you get stronger cravings

I track everyday (I have missed only a few), and have done so for the last couple years. I find that tracking, even on days that I blow my calorie range. This helps me not be "off track" too many days in a row.

Nope. I recorded all my food/drink for about 6 months (didn't count calories), but have stopped since my eating appears to be under control. Recording/tracking food is a great way to be mindful of what you are eating.
