We went out for sushi. I stuck with sashimi items, and ate the cucumber and daikon garnishes. I did have the age dashi tofu appetizer too.

My roommate threw together a really tasty stir fry. She used skinless, boneless, chicken thighs. She cut them up and added some frozen broccoli, rice, canned tomatoes, onions, terriyaki and a little worstershire sauce. Very good and filling!

treated myself to a new sandwich I have made in the past: cinnamon raisin bread with spreadable goat cheese and fig butter fried in substitute butter, with 10 oz 1% milk. The sandwich is sweet and rich and yet healthy, and I don't feel guilty because I have been eating a lot of fruits and vegetables lately.

Pearl, Hi, and welcome to Spark pages. I read your entry about avoiding ice cream and pretzels. What about using some substitutions until you are over those habits. Like when you get urges for ice cream you could have low fat plain yogurt or a fat free glass of milk. You could also maybe put some fresh fruit in the yogurt or a little vanilla and some sugar free sweetener to make a vanilla yogurt, or just eat the yogurt plain. For pretzels, maybe you could have some whole grain crackers for awhile, or something like that. Good luck to you. Glenn

Last night, I had a slice of pepperoni pizza. My calories were running out. I also had a side bowl of popcorn. I popped up two bags of the Popsecret 100-calorie bags, divided them into 4 bowls, added a spray of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, sprinkled on some cinnamon and Equal. It was a tastey 50-calorie addition to my meal...something different.

Wearing Thin, I also did something that worked well. I left a little dinner and went to a meeting. When got home, I actually added a little more and ate it all. Although I am stuffed and ate pretty fast, at least I don't want the usual sweets before bed. I like your idea of slowing down even before the meal.

Lanemayhew, I also have a problem with eating fast. I find that I cook fast, then keep that momentum going when I sit down to eat, and thus wolf through all of my food. I have used the solution of stopping and pausing for a couple of minutes at the table, before I begin to eat, to slow myself down. Now, I wonder about a mid meal pause as well. Glenn

I am going to have zuchinni, meatloaf, tomatoes, and cottage cheese..should be a well rounded dinner, and I am using smaller plates, only eating what is on my plate, and taking a mindful break in the middle of eating, just leaving my dinner sit on the table for about 10-15 minutes before finishing. This is the only way I can eat slow.
