And still the rains keep falling. I am over all this water, flooding and disasters across our state.

Praying for everyone.

Live well, laugh often, love much.

Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.

Hi, all. Good, as always, to catch up with you all.
Welcome to our new friends. Keep coming back and hopefully we can help.
Cold today.......snow predicted which is not the usual for us, although the rain we've been having is typical January for the NW. Nothing like Georgia is experiencing.
Cuba.........never thought of going there. May be because we are pretty far north and west. Mexico and Hawaii are so much closer :-).
Have fun and keep us posted.
Just hanging out today trying to work up the enthusiasm to go to the gym.
Have a good week.

Chris I hope you enjoyed your walk. It is always to walk whenever you can. I always enjoy my walk when it is possible to do so.

Georgia may you continue to be safe from all the water flooded area. It is terrible to see all the destruction that is taking place though.

We are going to have some very cold weather coming our way this week. All the cold is coming from
Canada. I will be glad for some cold weather as I can dress warmly and layered.

Morning Girls!
it's looking like a nice January day here with warm chinook winds! ( well warm for canada lol)
BF and I are booking a trip today for the end of January, so far it's looking like we will be going to Cuba! I wanted Mexico as I have already been to Cuba but BF likes the prices of Cuba better :p I'm just excited to sit down on a warm beach and swim in the ocean. Have you girls been to Cuba before? I was in Holgine prior and this time around looks like we are booking for Varadero.
have an awesome day girls

Chris we have severe thunderstorms and rain all the time at the moment. Not good for the already drenched state. We do have flooding around our city but nothing compared to what they are enduring further up north.
Many of the snakes are deadly and as for the crocs well some people will have to check under their houses before they move back in to ensure that none have taken up residence.

MY son is working hard asssessing and handing out money in these flkood stricken towns. Mainly cash for essential things like toilewtries, underwwear and clothes.

Have a good day.

Just a quick check in since I've been gone for a while. All is well, just busy and lazy!!!
I have dropped 2 pounds since Sunday and didn't gain any over the holidays, which I consider a miracle :-).
Did get going back to the gym so that helps.
Georgia, good luck to your son.

Welcome Wendy and yes I have had depression too. It is very hard but by joining the forums you make friends with like minded problems and you fget to share and feel better. It helped me.

I had a good day yesaterday with portion control and food. Here's to Wednesday being the same. One day at a time....

More rain predicted today.

DS is doing well in his Community relief and is working long hours helping the flood victims.

Until tomorrow.... water water and portion control.

Morning girls
Just getting ready to head out to the Dr office.
Patty do you have any good rules of thumb for portion control?
I find the easiest way for me at dinner is to portion my plate before I start eating. IE if I make chicken breast and veggies I will cut my chicken in half and slide it over the other side of my plate reserving it for lunch the next day. Snacks on the other hand I am still struggling with! my after work snacking is a huge problem! all I want to eat is salty stuff and lots of it. Any tips would be great!
I better get myself out the door
Have a great day ladies I'll check back in later

Hello-this sounds like a great board for support. I have been watching my weight creep up over the last many months. It is time for me to quit putting it off. This is the year that I intend to make great progress towards my goal. I have been playing with "dieting" for the last few years. It is now the time to be serious.

It has been a long time since I did anything on here and it shows. I have not been very true myself so I decided I needed to do something for myself. My husband and I own a convience store in a small town in Washington state. So, I am looking for someone who can listening to me. I really enjoy the people here and how everyone has an answer for you. and the fact that they let just vent is a plus. thank you

Hi everyone,
I have returned to try and get back on track and stop spinning out of control. It has been one whole year since I have posted. Lots has happened in that year but the 2 most major things were...
Pop passed away in June, if you remember he had Parkinson's and Alzheimer.
We also moved back closer to home. We had been trying for 2 years so we could help out with Pop. We got word of our transfer 2 weeks before Pop passed away. We are about an hour away from MIL so dh can be over there to help her when she needs it. She is several years younger then Pop so she doesn't need physical help, but is needing emotional support this first year of mourning. We are just under 4 hours away from my mom which is a big help on me with trying to get to her when need be. She will be 80 at end of the month.
I have started all over with the first phase. So I am working hard on the water since I have not been drinking any! I am living on diet coke :( I bought fresh lemons today to enjoy them in my water. I have an ice maker but sure do miss my water on the fridge door. The other thing I am trying to do is get a little exercise in, either longer walks with dog or walking with dvd. Baby steps ;)
Can't wait to catch up with all of you again.
Brenda

Hello and thank heavens that we are coming to the Last Day of 2010! This has been a tremendous year and here I am back to getting my life on track. I am hoping to find a diet buddy who is FEMALE and over 40 and wonder if there are any who have had Gastric By-pass and have found that weight has started to come on. I know I know...There is so much for me to say about that. I had my RNY 6 years ago and I have done exceptionally well. I still do good most days - but man when I binge...there I am binging till my hearts content. I have regained 20 pounds which is still a long way from the origional 154 pounds I lost. But this is such a unique cicumstance. I can't "eat" the same way as "everyone" else...I have used Sparkpages in the past and if nothing else I tracked what I ate. But now I am READY to go beyond that. I am not looking at this NEW YEAR as a NEW DIET...I am DONE DIETING. I LOVE FOOD - but need to balance the food, exercise and the special needs of the RNY. I am 42 and female...lol and can be brutally honest to a fault. I hope you will do the same for me.

Morning girls
welcome newbies
yesterday BF and I went skiing in the mountains! it was the first time I have done that since I was a kid!

Welcome newbies. We help each other by encouragement through whatever we are going through. Mini goals really do work when you are looking at large goals as each smaller goal gets you closer to the larger one.

KELLYJO143- What a great way to look at it.. I've always thought of mini goals, but for some reason 'looking 10 lbs 7 times' seems to work better than losing 70lbs once!

I need some help. I am new to SparkPeople, but not new to being overweight. Most of my life in fact, I have been overweight. I am just looking for some support. I hope to achieve a weight loss goal of 10 lbs (at a time). I have 70 or so to lose. But I thought I would start with small goals that will lead me to my ultimate goal. I have diabetes and my doctor says that if I can lose 40 lbs, I can probably get off some, it not all, of my meds.

yes I have a post Christmas mess to get through too. But I will start mine on Friday

Live well, laugh often, love much.

Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.

Getting back on track after a breather at my brothers. A little at a time. Taking a few days to get back on track. Cleaning and picking up the mess I made before I left.

Cold and rainy. When I drove back home I got into a big mess where you could not see very well ahead of you. I am glad to get back home, however, happy that I did make the trip.

Patty that is so wonderful that you drove yourslef and had fun. So good to hear from you. We have had so much rain in the last week and most of our state is under flood.

Work is hectic with post Christmas sales.

I went to Houston to spend Christmas with my brother and inlaws....it was fun! I had alot of good Chinese food which is lacking in this town where I live. I am happy as a drove myself, so I am feeling good. Glad to be home though.

Hoping everyone will have the best of the rest of the year.

just a quick drop in!
Georgia I hope you are surviving the boxing day sales at work.
I did a bit of shopping today myself, got a few GREAT deals, BF and I bought a full bed set at more then 50% off! we are even able to have it delivered to BF parents house (so we wont have to move ourselves across the country in a few months) at no extra charge and we were given gift cards to the store so all in all it didn't even cost us $200 out of pocket for the set! our receipt said we saved over $1200!! not a bad deal at all!
have a great day girls, I'll check in later
