When in doubt, just walk.

Thanks @Coach Denise!!

I'm going to start with the 10-15 minutes of walking and the yoga beginners 30 day challenge. I feel really stiff, and want some flexibility before I start trying to strengthen a lot. But at the same time, my core is really weak, so I'm going to work on that a few times a week as well. I'll slowly build up my time on the treadmill (or walking the neighborhood if the weather is nice the the neighbor doesn't let his huge dog get loose again!).

Bonus: I realized my kiddos are not in good shape either. They don't need to lose weight, they need flexibility and muscle tone, so they are going to go on this adventure with me so that they can keep up once I get in shape enough to start going hiking again!!

I'm glad you already have the clearance to exercise!

I would suggest starting out slowly, but also start out with what you want to do the most and then add in the rest as your body is able. You definitely don't want to overdo it and create any injuries or set you back in any way, so starting out slowly like you mentioned about doing 10-15 minutes at a time and working your way up is a good idea.

It really does not matter, as long as you do something for 30 minutes.

I have been cleared to start working out since January (had several surgeries last year) but have yet to start.

I want to do yoga, I used to and loved it, and I really want my flexibility back! I like Blogilates and found a 30 day beginner calendar to use for strength training (if you have other training program suggestions let me know!!), and have a treadmill I'm going to start using for 10-15 minutes at a time and work my way up. At least until my pup is trained enough to go on walks with me.

But I don't know what to start when!! Do I start it all at once and just jump into a routine? Do I start the yoga first and then add the rest later? I'm totally at a loss! I'm terribly out of shape, have not been able to work out for a year and would love some advice!
