For what you need and use it for, they are the same thing.

From Nutrition.gov with more technical info if you are interested: The "calorie" we refer to in food is actually kilocalorie. One (1) kilocalorie is the same as one (1) Calorie (upper case C). A kilocalorie is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 kilogram of water one degree Celsius.

Those are just going to be estimates and wearing a heart rate monitor will give you a more accurate picture of your calories burned. You are using different muscles and your effort will likely differ greatly as well between the two machines. Those are 2 completely different exercises, so it is likely that you will burn calories much differently in the same time frame like you saw. But again, those are just estimates and may not be completely accurate, especially if you are not entering your weight, height, etc. But mainly, those are 2 different types of exercises and won't burn the same amount of calories.

Hope that helps!

Hi everyone! I don't understand that my eliptical displays 50 CAL burned in 6min of exercise and my Rowing machine displays 10 KCAL burned in 6min. Can someone explain me the difference? Thank you in advance. Sara
