Do Pilates!!!
It is safe and challenging.

Walking in parks is wonderful but stay away from bushes and leaves! Ticks hide inside green plants and may infect you with Lyme disease.

Building on what the previous poster said:

Workouts can be as simple as doing upper-body weight exercises with a can (or two, or three) from the cupboard in a grocery bag as your weight. Do it while you're watching TV. March in place while you're watching TV. Park a little further from the store or from work. Take the long way around. If you usually take an elevator, take the stairs instead, even if it's only one flight. You can even do one flight of stairs, then do the rest in an elevator! The point is to make yourself more active.

For actual workouts, you could check YouTube for beginners' videos and see if something piques your interest. There's a LOT on there. If you can do a gym membership and you have a YMCA nearby, they tend to have a lot of options and the trainers there can help direct you to classes or workouts that fit your needs.

First, if you haven't gotten clearance from a doctor to exercise, I would start there.

Second, exercise preferences are personal. What I like to do may not be something you like. A good exercise plan includes cardio and strength and should include 1 to 2 days per week. Not sure what you like? Check out the SP fitness area. Search videos on YouTube. Pinterest has a lot of ideas too. Sign up for a local 5k race.

Third, a good goal is 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week. That is 30 minutes a day for 5 days. You can build to that amount and it can even be broken into 10 minute segments.

Can anyone recommend a program for someone who has not exercised at all in the past, is overweight, and wants to start with something that will be safe and challenging but not overwhelming?
