I have shoulder issues (chronic tendinitis in my bicep tendon), so when I do "plank challenges", I do wall or knee planks - it's an angle and weight I can tolerate, and working to build the time still has benefits!

I don't think being overweight is an issue with planks, but the shoulder could be depending on how significant the issue is, what specific movements give you pain or discomfort, etc. It's always a good idea to talk to your doctor first, especially since it sounds like you're receiving treatment for the issue. If they say it's okay, then I'd just try them and see how your shoulder tolerates it. If it doesn't, the good news is that there are plenty of other exercises you can try.

Hope that helps,

Do you think 55#'s overweight with a calcified stiff shoulder will be able to tolerate planks. Seems as if that is going to be an over-burden on that joint. Don't want to have to go for another steroid shot! Looking for some insight or alternatives.
