Hello! I don’t go to a gym, either! Use dumbbells, stability ball, kettlebell and medicine ball! Use my living room and Sparkpeople exercises! Sometimes videos and workouts from here, too! I also use Leslie Sansone dvd’s To get my walking in on inclement days! Your exercise program is what you make sit! As has been said, just don’tquit!

Veldblom, I’ve sent you several messages but have not heard back. If you don’t want to be spark buddies, no problem. I won’t message you again unless I hear back from you. In any case, good luck with your health and fitness journey. 😀

If you go to the "Learn" tab above you'll find "The SparkPeople 28-Day Program" to help you get off on the right foot. Good to see you folks make a connection... usually that doesn't happen on here for whatever reason. People afraid of commitment, I guess.

Here in the States, many Medicare plans provide a free gym membership and although I too live in a small town, there are a bunch of gyms and it's wasted on me. I do a little with resistance bands and a Gazelle Edge at home with the rest coming from outdoor walking with a few intervals of jogging every so often. I've lost weight both ways, with and without the gym and I can tell you from first-hand experience that you can do just fine without one and with very little or even no equipment. I too have a wrist gadget (a pretty high-end Garmin in my case) and although it's nice, it's surely not any kind of necessity. My advice is to start from where you are with what you have and figure it out as you go. The most important tools in the arsenal are intake control and hard-headed determination. Just never, ever quit. Good luck!

Back from the kitchen after satisfying dinner of ham and bean soup. 😋

I also exercise at home. Walking is my main exercise too, and has worked quite well for me in losing weight and getting healthier. Depending on energy level and mood, I walk/run, walk/jog or just plain walk. If I want to increase intensity and calories burned, more running or walking, or at the end of a long week, brisk walking to unwind and relax. Small towns are no problem for getting fit. In addition to walking, you can do some weight work, do aerobics and dance in the kitchen (my favorite), and just incorporate more activity in your everyday life. Don’t go overboard at first trying to change completely; rather, just start adding more activityalittle at a time and build upon it.

Are you loking to improve your diet too, or just physical activity level? I’ve found that both go hand in hand, and positive changes in one area cause positive changes in the other.

Let me know what your goals are, and we can work towards our goals together. You can message me here on Spark or let me know how you want to communicate. Let’s get fit!

Hello there! No, you absolutely don’t need a Fitbit! You can certainly get fit and healthy without one. In the interest of full disclosure, I do have one, but when I started on my journey to health in June 2016, I did not. And I made good progress anyway.

I like to track my progress and am a ‘numbers’ person, so I enjoy having a log of exercise minutes, weight lost, food eaten, etc. It helps to motivate me. But before I got my Fitbit, I used SparkPeople to track many items, and it did a lot of the same tracking, but I had to manually input the data. This accomplished the same result.

Sorry, hubby just said dinner was ready, so gotta (or rather, want to) go eat. I will post more after dinner. But I’d love to be your workout buddy! Talk to you soon!

Hallo, i did post a few days ago that I would really like a fitness buddy. A lovely lady replied but I don"t have a Fitbit. By the way, Is it necessary that I have a Fitbit? Sorry if that is a stupid question! I live in a small town with no gym. I exercise at home and walk. A few years back I was fit but now I"m starting again and want somebody to keep me on my toes and that we can encourage one another. It is an uphill battle for me at the moment! I was thinking a buddy on my "starting over" level emoticon or... We could text via Whatsapp? It will be wonderfull if you would join me in this challenge. Somebody? emoticon
