Currently doing A Balanced Life Back To The Mat Challenge and rediscovered that I am a person who does better when sharing and being accountable. My last accountability group was over a year ago. Again, did better. Was more consistent. I do have a fitbit. I am 57. I am a nurse. I work 7 days in a row and then have 7 off. I have. I would love to lose 35-40 pounds. When I try to do this on my own, I fizzle out after a month. Sign me up!

Hallo Carol, I would like to be your fitness buddy. I was fit and slim a few years back but now struggle to lose weight and getting fit again. No self discipline! I'm 50 and would like to lose about 10kg.
What do you say? It would be great to "report" to someone and for me to encourage.

Hi I am Carol from California and I would love someone to motivate me. I try to do 12000 steps a day and have managed 11000 most days but am trying to get back into doing 12000. I would love an accountability buddy and male or female it doesn't matter. I am 55 and trying to loose about 80 lbs and have the arthritis in my knees and a bad hip so that makes it challenging.
Hi Amy! If you haven’t found anyone to partner with, I’m also looking for more accountability. We are almost identical in age, starting weight, amount to lose, and even have bursitis in the same joint. I’m not following any specific program, but I do have a gym membership that I don’t use as often as I should. My desired exercise goal is 4 days at the gym (3 full workouts, 1 yoga class) and 1 day of outdoor activity like walking. Let me know!

Wow, thanks for all your encouraging comments on exercise. That's the area that I really need help in. The motivation to exercise has been a struggle in my life. Listening to each of you has inspired me to make an honest effort to exercise to meet my weight lost goal of 95 pounds. I lost 15 pounds which was a very slow process. That was one year ago..
I'm a big fan of Hasfit. I found them on YouTube about two months ago, their website about a month ago, and their facebook group shortly thereafter. The Biggest Loser Challenges and the 5% Challenges are also good for finding supportive groups of people. With the help of all of the above I've lost over 100 pounds despite knees that withstood 11 surgeries and now have arthritis, and bulging discs in my back.
Good luck with your search and feel free to message me any time.

I'm 52 and have 45 lbs (at least) to lose. An accountability partner sounds like a great idea. I walk 3-5 times a week and trying to get in other exercise but I'm not good about "making" the time when I get busy.

I would offer, but I concede that I am a guy, and I would much rather respect where your comfort zone is. Sometimes a person's comfort zone can be like this. I know my search for an online program crashed out hard recently because I ironically am in the "must be female" camp for trainers to work with; experience has taught me that they listen better.
I sincerely hope you find the person you need.

So I was JUST thinking yesterday about how I seem to do better when I have someone to "compete" with - If there's that "someone" that I know will be working out, and that we will be comparing notes, then I'm more apt to do what I need to, because I don't want to tell that person that I didn't do it. Having that accountability in a person does so much more for me than a news feed can do. Honestly, I haven't even been on SP for some time, but randomly logged in this morning, and one of the first things I saw was the link to your post. How timely.
I am 41, female. I also have about 70 lbs. to lose. I have degenerative joint disease and arthritis in my knees, and it does get worse when I don't exercise regularly. Also a migraine sufferer.
Truthfully, I've been off my goals for quite some time. But I do need to get back to them. I have been working on a few other things that I want/need to change in my life, but my health goals have to be higher on my life of priorities, as well.
One thing I had thought of yesterday when thinking about this idea - if there was someone who wanted to be an accountability partner, it would be great if they were willing to join up on Facebook. Here's why: If you messaged on SP, saying, "Hey, I need you to give me a push today! I'm struggling!" or some such message, I probably wouldn't see it until evening when I come to log for the day. However, if that message was sent on FB, I would see it pretty quick, and could give the support when it was needed. (And vice versa, of course!)
So let me know your thoughts - Would you like to be accountability buddies? And what are your thoughts about utilizing FB? Feel free to respond here or privately if you wish.

Here's the deal...I tried the SparkPeople search for a buddy, but I came up with inactive members. I didn't even care if the member lived close to me. So that was a bust. That's why I'm posting here.
--I'm 45 and female and prefer another female member (sorry guys, just my comfort level)
--I have 70 lbs. to lose and my goal is to lose it by end of November 2019.
--I have some minor physical limitations (painful hips, knees, ankles) so I'm doing a lot of low-impact stuff and strength training. I'm having a flare-up of bursitis (makes me sound 85 years old!) in my left hip at the moment, so I've been avoiding exercise. I need to just do what I can - that's where motivation comes in! I also have chronic migraines, but they are a bit better since I cut back on caffeine and am getting Botox shots. The HASFit app is my current favorite way to exercise.
--I need someone to keep me accountable for exercising 3-5 times a week, even when I don't want to right now. And to give me props when I meet or exceed my goals. And I'll do the same for you.
