It's hard to make recommendations when you only give us very vague information here... You do 30 minutes of cardio and some weights. Okay, what are you currently doing for cardio? (And the follow-up: can you increase the intensity on that?)

Another question would be: what do you mean by "some weights"? There's always some day-to-day variation, but I've found that I get and stay leaner when I'm lifting weights more often and focusing more on strength training than on cardio. So for example, if you always start with cardio, try to start with a warm up, then go straight for the weights and lift as heavily as you can for 3 sets of 8-10 reps per exercise. Then go and do your cardio and cool down. Do this 3 days a week, and just do cardio on the other days you work out. See if that changes your results at all.

What others have said is generally true -- weight/fat loss generally does come down to diet more than exercise. However, making sure to incorporate a good strength training regimen will help you get that lean, toned look.

Fat loss is basically about calories consumed versus calories burned, not about the specifics of what type of exercise you do.

From this perspective, just pick something at the gym that looks like you might enjoy, as that makes it more likely that you will stick to it and burn more calories in the longer term.

One thing you can do is gradually increase the duration or the intensity of exercise over time as you get fitter, rather than just sticking with exactly the same workout week after week - this will help burn more calories.

I don't eat a poor diet, I actually eat a really healthy diet. But I am trying to find an exercise program that will help me target fat loss on top of eating well.

That is done by eating at a deficit.

One thing that can help you in your cardio workouts is running with an incline on a treadmill. I'd start with smaller inclines on a standard treadmill and then switch to an incline trainer once your body is more accustomed to it. I remember reading an article from treadmill reviews where they tested how an incline affects the calories burned and the time it takes. But don't forget, exercising is great for staying fit but real weight loss is going to happen from your diet. Intensive workouts can help you lose some calories, but it doesn't help if you eat/drink those calories back when you aren't working out. Monitor your diet and stick to going to the gym and over time you will see results!

Hello all! I am trying to find some good exercises for fat loss. Currently, I go to the gym 4-5 times a week and do 30 minutes of cardio and some weights. I am trying to specifically lose fat (my body fat percentage is 42.5% yikes!). Any recommendations?
