Thanks for the input Martha. I found one which is very basic, no bells and whistles, just step counting. I wear it on a lanyard since I don't like anything on my wrists. I may try moving up to a better one later, but being a widow on a fixed income and needing dental work, I really have to watch the $! emoticon

I used one from Omron that was pretty inexpensive and clipped to my waist. It was pretty accurate after I set it (and that was easy). One feature that I really liked was that it tracked "aerobic steps." If I walked briskly for at least 10 minutes, that got tracked.

As I moved my stepping to 10,000/day I started working on getting at least 30 mins of aerobic walking.

Have heard good things about misfit (misfit.com) and seems like they have a sale now.

Thanks for the input. I don't have a smart phone - I use a tracphone which I carry with me for emergencies also. However, I found a pretty good pedometer for $11.99. I wear it on a lanyard since I don't really like anything around my wrists. It's a good basic one, no bells and whistles, just counting the steps and very easy to use.

TexasRose11, if you have a smart phone, they now have a tracker all ready installed. For instance: Samsung android phones have S Health. It is an app that can't not be deleted and not that hard to set up. I Phones have I Health, again it is an app that is all ready installed. If you have a different android phone, there are all kinds of apps that you can install that will work for tracking your steps.
I carry my phone in case of emergencies.

I use a Garmin Vivofit 2. I like it because I can swim and shower with it on. It was around $150 when I got it and I really like it.

Those FitBits are pretty expensive aren't they? I only wanted something that would track my steps and maybe my calories burned. I have to be really careful about walking because I have bad knees, a balance problem, and neuropathy in my legs. Last year I was doing 3 miles, but I can't make that anymore.

on one of my early attempts at weight loss i measured a half mile in my car and then counted the steps. I was lucky because it was 1000 steps. I would walk 3 miles for 55 minutes and 6000 steps

I just bought one and it seems to do the trick. It was like $10 on Wish lol. Yes....even if it's something cheap from China, I can manage. It will sync to GoogleFit, so I can still get my stuff to work with Spark.

I will say that I was about to give up on getting the darn thing to charge before I figured it out haha.

Personally I have a FitBit and I know people who have the Garmin activity tracker. Either are good options, in my opinion and can be linked to spark. I know FitBit has a variety of price points but I am not sure about that with Garmin. You will probably pay more than that pedometer you got but I have been quite satisfied with my FitBit HR Charge 2.

I want to begin trying to get my 7,500 steps in every day, but need a pedometer to do that. I purchased one, but it wasn't very good, could never figure out how to set it. I know I need to spend more money for one. Could anyone suggest a good brand and tell me the correct way to set it?
