Well now I feel challenged, I'll have to look up how to do single leg squats! My favorite are squats on a bosu ball; I like squats much more than lunges.

And yes... Cookies are so good and I'm going to miss them over the next couple of weeks. I want to hit 170 before I have another baked cookie lol

Because they are asymmetrical, lunges probably work a slightly larger range of muscles, which makes them better from a "functional fitness" point of view.

But squats will generally involve a greater vertical lift distance (depending on how deep you go), and therefore will work your muscles harder. For leg toning (as per your heading), squats are probably the more challenging and more effective exercise.

Personally, I like single leg squats, as this is twice as hard AND involves asymmetry. Do them barefoot to really feel your foot and ankle muscles working to keep you balanced. (But be warned, this is a very challenging exercise, and probably something that you need to work up to through regular squats first.)

Squats and sit-ups to prevent cookies? There is a healthy choice right there. But damn those cookies would taste good. emoticon

Okay, I know we should be all be doing a variety of toning exercises as part of a healthy exercise regime but I'm asking you guys to take a stance: what's your favorite? (or which one is the lesser evil?)

Also is there some other leg toning that you prefer? Join the discussion!

I'm bored and I'm fighting the urge to bake cookies (and EAT THEM!) I'm going to do some toning exercises (rest day for cardio, yo!) going to try for 100 squats and 50 sit ups!

I'll check back when I'm done peeps, what do you all have :D
