I join a weekly challenge with a bunch of people (many I don't know). It's the same group of people and some are die-hard steppers - 20-30k a day.

Even though I try to get 5 miles a day during the week (roughly 12k), I rarely win the challenge but it keeps me focused to get my 5 miles in.

I haven't had any problems with bands breaking. I had the same one for over 2 years. I just purchased from Amazon the silver and black (2) bands that look dressy. It has a bit of stretch and uses a very strong magnet to secure. I'm loving it so far. Once in a while, I stick to something emoticon but it's not a big deal. I only paid about $13 for 2.

Junepa, I totally agree about the bands! My charge 2 original band lasted about a year, and the knockoff band I got at Walmart broke 6 months later - the part that holds the end of the strap broke - so right now I I have a binder clip keeping it from flapping around LOL.

But ... I LOVE my Fitbit! I am a numbers person, and the different metrics motivate and inspire me, and remind me when I need to ‘step it up’.

I like that it made me aware of how much I moved as well as how much time I spent not moving. I like that it told me my stairs climbed, especially when I go hiking. I like that it tracked my activity minutes directly on to Spark. I liked that they showed me my heartrate.

I dislike that the wrist band ALWAYS breaks. I have had 4 fitbits, I DON'T HAVE ONE ANY MORE. I had them over about 6 years, so ran out of warranty.

In conclusion, I like that I now know due to wearing one so long about how many minutes I am active and how many stairs, and steps I do in a day.

I like seeing how many steps I can get in for a one day total. I also like seeing it track my sleep { I have sleep difficulties due to hot flashes} and how much running and all the performance stats so I can improve my times!

@WEEDERSGRL1 Thanks for sharing your FitBit Flex2 experience. In the FitBit app on the device that you use for syncing, there is a section on exercise. You can start an exercise session from the app, and everything that you do on the FitBit during that period will be considered as a particular exercise. Then you stop the exercise, and your activity is "counted" as exercise minutes.
* * * *
You can do it the other way too. Do your activity while you are wearing the FitBit. Then, on either your sync device (phone, tablet) OR the desktop app from FitBit, you can input directly what activity you did.... then the FitBit app will translate your steps into calories, steps AND minutes.
* * *
Once you have done that in the FitBit app, SparkPeople's Fitness Tracker section will interpret that as minutes of activity, for which you will "get credit" in SP.
If you still are have trouble with this, send it along to one of the HELP experts of SP, they will get you in the direction of resolving your issue.
* * *
Keep sparking, and lovin' FitBit.

@FUNTIMERACHAEL I just got the Versa. Was recommended by the salesperson, who said that it was lighter, thinner and visually more appealing than the Ionic. I was ready to get a replacement for the Charge2.
* * * *
I have had the Versa for 10 days now, and there is no turning back! I keep all of my previous stats, including from FitBit One, a "found" Flex (version one), and the above Charge2. I have a small wrist, so you might think that I large watch face wouldn't be a good fit. It actually is less stressful on my arm, and I wear it 14 hours / day.
I like the color display, and the rows of feedback (top, middle, bottom) during the exercise portion.
Since I use a different wearable for notifications (text, reminders, other functions), I can't really comment on that feature. The hourly movement reminder has a nice upgrade - you can see your progress as well as how many more steps to your hourly goal.
The one down side in that steps reminder: the Versa doesn't respond in real time - it takes about 10 - 15 seconds for it to catch up with what you have actually done. I read about that in a few reviews, and it's true. Hope that is not a detail that would stop you from trying out the Versa. (No, I don't write promotional blogs for a living; I just like wearable tech and the feedback it provides. Wearable tech is one of the reasons I don't want personal trainers to coach me on cardio; if I use a personal trainer, it is for their program design and observation skills to keep me safe doing weights and bodyweight strength training.)
I really like the advances in wrist wearable tech. I still trust the chest - based systems for the most consistent results, but wearables like FitBit are so simple: charge it, wear it, sync it. Enjoy!

The visuals in the app, the challenges, the virtual badges -- they have all given me the motivation to do the first 10 minutes of activity. Once I get started, I can keep going.
* * *
Another point that I didn't really appreciate: As you get more fit, you need to "step it up" in other ways to get the same calorie burn and aerobic benefit. The FitBit experience helps that, too.

I have the FitBit charge 2. It's great for keeping stats. When I rehabbed after a major injury last year, the physical therapist wanted me to get my heart rate. With the recorded data from my fitbit, I could show her how high my HR went during a workout.

My Fitbit was the reason I began to get serious about moving and exercise. I really like the hourly movement reminder feature, plus the sync to SparkPeople. It has become a daily goal for me to make sure I get my 12K goal in everyday.

I didn't know I could sync my Fitbit to Spark People. I'll have to check that out. I like knowing how many steps I've taken and do feel accomplishment when I hit my steps. I also like knowing how much sleep I get and it makes a great watch.

The best part is getting my phone calls and messages. A pretty cool feature to have.

Does anyone here use the FitBit Versa? That is the one I'm interested in getting. I like that it has some smart watch functions, and that it does all of the other fitbit stuff as well. I haven't found anyone that actually owns one yet to ask how they like it.

I just got my FitBit about 6 months ago; my daughter upgraded and I got her Flex 2; I LOVE IT!! I get so excited seeing how many steps I do on a regular basis, and I just love that little 'party on my wrist', it actually encourages me to do more.
I do have a question about it, if anyone could 'weigh' in on this... how do I get my Flex 2 to show how many minutes I have walked, along with my steps, in the SparkPeople fitness area? Is there something I need to do, or is the steps all the Flex 2 records?
Thank you in advance and Happy Stepping!!

I've had the Fitbit One for several years. I had used the Omron for MANY years, but the Fitbit gave me "credit" when I rode the recumbent bike at the gym. No other pedometer did that. Not sure what I'll do when they quit making the basic "One". I'm only interested in tracking my activity/steps & (mostly) get in my 10K+/day. I told a friend that if I had one that was tracking my sleep, I'd probably be awake all night, wondering if I was getting enough sleep - ROFL!!!!!!!

Fitbit Charge DOES have GPS in it. You just have to learn how to start it. It's not that hard. Someone should be able to teach you.
I love my Fitbit Charge. It doesn't matter to me how accurate because I'm only using it as a measure against myself.

I think I have like a Fitbit Charge. I think it's the one before the actual watch. I love it mostly because it's a stylish watch. Unfortunately, I follow the mapmywalk more than I follow Fitbit, because mapmywalk has a GPS that tells me exactly how many miles I've walked. I honestly can't figure out how to calculate my steps to get an accurate Fitbit. I've read the instructions, but I don't know how to measure how long I've walked and calculate the steps. I tried to use the mapmywalk app to determine how much I've walked and calculate it that way, but I just got an odd number. I guess the Fitbit is a nice backup, because even though it's not accurate, it's always nice to have a watch and also reach 10k steps, even though it may not be accurate. Besides, it reminds me how many steps I have yet to walk. Even though, usually when I walk, I get it done in the morning, so the daily reminders don't really matter to me.

I mainly wanted it to see what my workouts were like, what my heart rate was getting to and the overall calorie burn etc.. I know its not 100 percent, but it atleast gives me an idea. It definitely makes me walk more if I notice my steps are low.

I really like that mine reminds me to move every hour, and that I can use it to track and better understand various health-related things over time (like sleep quality and what Fitbit terms "female health"). It turns out I also really like the breathing exercises you can do with it.

Oh let me count the ways I love thee......
I love that I can see how many calories I have actually burned that day and eat accordingly. Burn a lot I can add and like the other day when I spent 5 hours in a car it was easy to see where my limit was. And that you can set your daily deficit.
I love the resting heart rate and to see the progress I’ve made.
I love to track calories burned on my walks and the speed.
And I love that it syncs it all with SP and vice versa.
My Fitbit is the best motivator ever. And it makes it feel so easy.

I like the sync to SP. Gives me more time to do the things I need to be doing!

It's a fun gadget. I like it because you can add friends (I only have people I actually know in person) and do challenges.

I like the sleep insights. I've got the HR so it gives me the [surprisingly accurate] detail about REM, light sleep, deep sleep, etc.

one of my rewards for the progress i've made so far was to upgrade to a fitbit alta hr. i like the wrist-watch aspect much more than i thought i would, it's comfortable, and i don't have to worry about it falling off or out of its holder (i have a zip as well). i love that this one tracks sleep, but i think my favorite thing is the hourly reminder to move. my job involves working at my computer all day, so the hourly reminder to get some steps in is great! i also use it as a trigger for standing vs sitting at my desk :)

Healthy choices and actions have positive impacts, even if the scale doesn't move!

greetings fellow sparkers I love my fitbit for so many reasons. I think what I love the most is the automatic recording of my steps and the amount of time spent walking. these are the two features I use the most. since I bought my fitbit I have been able to walk a total of 310 miles in 11 weeks. because of the record keeping I am very motivated to keep walking. I was amazed at how the steps have added up and am also thrilled that I am gaining strength in my legs, I have had 2 total knee replacements and 1 total hip replacement in less than 5 years. I only wear my fitbit when I go for my walk . why do you love your fitbit?
