I nap on occasion if I'm sleepy and don't have a busy day. My wife naps daily; she's a long-distance runner and also takes meds that make her sleepy. She sometimes feels guilty about it, but it's obvious her body needs it. Our bodies are all different and you just need to do what's right for your own.

yes, related to the temperature being 88 , 24 hours a day for 10 days, hardly sleep at night so end up falling asleep 1 hour after I get up for 2 hours because of exhaustion. I wish the temperature would improve, in cooler weather I do not take naps.

I would nap each day if I could. During my lunch breaks after I eat,I nap in my car. Friday naps are far and few between because of PAY DAY..gotta go to the bank AND try to eat. Not enough time for nap. Saturdays are a no- no. I have no lunch break so no nap. I catch myself wanting to fall asleep on the drive home.
I love these words by Winston Churchill and hope to live by them: Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense.

Well, since I asked, I guess I should answer. I take naps, not every day. If I do not feel up to parr, I take a nap. It could be because my breathing is bad due to hot weather, I did not get sleep the night before for what ever reason. Studies recently suggest naps during the afternoon, something about our bodies at a certain time need a reboot. Which I guess is better than a donut and a cup of coffee!
During the summer, my schedule is much more erratic and it can sometimes lead to me just crashing at some point in the day. I do enjoy those naps that end up on a lovely afternoon where the birds are singing and there is a little breeze. So relaxing!
Nope. I don't need naps. I sleep very well at night.

Yes, I take naps. I have insomnia, not every night but off and on. I can go to sleep just fine, but then I'll wake up at some ridiculous hour like 2:30 am, and be unable to go back to sleep. It was horrible when I was still working. But now I'm retired, so I take a nap during the day.

Napping for me is extremely rare, just like Patti. Since I started my side hustle at the local dinner theater last fall, I have found myself taking a nap or even dozing for an hour on the couch in the afternoon more often.
This need is usually associated with a race of a longer distance (10k or 10 mile) with an early morning alarm (4 AM or 5 AM) and my theater shift is usually 3 to 3.5 hours. During that time, I am on my feet working hard to seat guests and provide other assistance until the show starts.

The exception was back when I worked full time (plus) and bus commuted for 45-60 min each way. Often I would let myself doze off to headphone music on my way home...destress time! And there were three stops before mine, so I never slept for long... or missed my own stop! patti
