I treat lifting like I would brushing my teeth: I'm thorough and diligent. Although unlike brushing, I do set aside a day for some R&R, but usually reserve that day for cardio. Not necessarily meaning a treadmill or bike, but running around in the backyard with the kiddo, going for a walk, etc. is still considered a steady state exercise, too, and allows my muscles to re-energize!
