Are you entering some sort of competition or are you improving your fitness? Improving your fitness does not involve unnecessary risk. In any case, you have gathered all the information, so now all you need do is decide. Good luck and keep Sparking.

So I just push myself till I reach failure? so no straps needed? I thought straps would strengthen my grip so I lift atleast as good as if I were doing a barbell backsquat

I've been following the thread, but didn't comment because I agree with the advice given. Definitely not worth the risk.

I'd like to see a SP fitness coach answer, but I'm in agreement: an injury waiting to happen. But I'm no fitness coach either.

I agree with the PP. That sounds like an injury waiting to happen.

Go to failure, yes. Aids to push past failure don't sound safe. Once injured, you can't train at all, right?

Can wrist straps help me put up big numbers with dumbell squats ? I have dumbells that can go up to 80 kg. Will wrist straps help me do those squats so that my hand doesnt give out before my legs ?
