Hooping is a lot of fun. I can't waist hoop more than a few minutes. It builds a lot of core muscles. It has taken me a while, but finally able to do it. It has help my back become stronger and not hurt so much. To keep me motivated, I would hoop dance with off body tricks. Some easy ones that build up your arm muscles. I found that it was really fun and relaxing. Now I do it as often as I can. Still working on the waist hooping. lol. I don't know how they figure the calories. I do know it is strength training. If you are curious about hula hoop dancing--You Tube it. It is so pretty and flowing. Come to our Hula Hooping for Fun and Fitness. We encourage healthy habits through fun competition with yourself for consistency. Hula hooping is just one segment of the challenge. We start a new challenge on Monday. www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_individ

I gave that up sixty years ago. It always ended up on the ground with me tripping over it. (... and that was while I was using it!)
