Thank you both.

Martha, I probably am not burning much in the way of calories in that class, though I am not in shape enough to make it easy, but I am also doing pickleball and I think that one is burning some calories. At most we end up with 2 minutes break between games. Sometimes there isn't a chance to even sit down.

I'd probably track it as low-impact aerobics.

Hope that helps,

Are you "eating back" the calories you burn? If not (and personally I don't do that), then it doesn't make a lot of difference. If it's a 60 mins class check out aerobic class for x minutes and stretching for y minutes or however the class breaks down. After a few weeks you'll see the average cals and you can create your own exercise and use the average.

You can also buy a heart rate monitor which will let you not only monitor your heart rate while you exercise, but tell you the extra calories burned. They are pretty accurate.

I am starting to take a class called Silver Sneakers Classic. It seems to be a mixture of cardio, light free weights stretching and resistance training. Today was more cardio than the others with stretching closely following. Last week more stretching and free weights. How would somebody track those? Is it anything like cross training, though not as strenuous?
