Yes, but ...until then. I betcha the surgeon can't do surgery on infected skin, so there MUST be a way to keep it clean and dry and healthy.

Another vote for body glide here. They sell it at Walmart now. Try it.

You can use a hair dryer on cool setting to make sure skin in really dry. Do at least every morning and evening, and when ever else it is sweaty if possible.

The only place I really had a problem was on my inner thighs and I found that wearing tighter fitting leggings stopped the problem when I was working out.

I live in a tropical, humid climate and I wear dresses every day. I swear by Body Glide. You have to make sure that your skin is dry when you put it on, otherwise it doesn't really adhere to your skin. I walk a lot and I never have to reapply, not even after swimming. Don't bother buying the women's version; it's the same thing in a pink tube for more money.

It's also great for shoe straps that rub.

There's a product called bodyglide that some people find helpful, my experience wasn't great but I should probably give it another dry. Also after showering it can help to really make sure you dry under any folds not just because of the sweat but to prevent rashes.
Other suggestions I've read recently are the cotton pads or pieces of cotton (suggestion or not using tissues)
Using anti perspirant in those areas after again making sure you are totally dry before applying it
I've been trying to find the best solutions as well, as many of us have I think

One step at a time we can do it!

My older MIL used to use a dusting of cornstarch powder...and then dust/dry wipe that off the next time you go to the restroom, and reapply.... (A small salt shaker works well but be sure to store it in a small closed ziplock bag...) Talcum powder was also used for that, but I know some folks are leary of it now (probably without good cause). You could check for unscented baby powder if that's an option you are comfortable with.....

I would think you should avoid creams...as they are only going to keep it moist. You might also be frank and ask your doctor if they've any suggestions the next time you are in---lord knows, you aren't the only one with this issue!!
Good Luck.... I know its uncomfortable especially in a warm climate.

Yes, but how. Even when NOT working out, the skin gets sweaty by the very nature of not getting air on it.
Sometimes I place facial tissue or a thin cloth to try to absorb the moisture.
Also, is there a good cream that would be beneficial?

Hi, I was wondering if there was any advice on how to handle the chafing caused by folds of skin on heavier people. Problem areas are : beneath the belly, underarms, and upper inner thighs. Sweating is obviously a problem and infections can develop. How can we handle this best until we can lose that weight?
Thanks!
