Varies too much. a 3 hour hike; a 30 minute circuit; an hour long class

There is no such thing as the final success in life. What is really meaningful is the courage to face the next minute, the next hour, the next day.

I've never belonged to a gym as I don't enjoy them. I have a collection of workout equipment at home that I use for my workouts. I can finish a workout at home in the time it would have taken me to get to the closest gym and I don't have to get dressed, wash my face or brush my hair to do it. Working out at home is a massive time saver!

On work days I often do a weighted HIIT workout that is under 20 minutes. I move a lot at work and lift heavy things. Sometimes if if I haven't hit my step goal I will go for a walk in the evening.

On days when I'm not working I can engage in longer physical activity that I enjoy.

* Mountain biking - 60-120 minutes
* A run - 30 minutes
* Long weight workout - 30-60 minutes
* Rail trail/road ride - 60-120 minutes

With exercise and diet consistency is key. Work at it everyday and over time you will see the results.

It's okay if you can only do even just 30 minutes a day. A solid workout can definitely be done in that amount of time.

I typically do more because I enjoy being active, not because it's somehow better for reaching my goals. However, today I only had time for 35 minutes. And it still kicked my butt!

I get 30 minutes of cardio in the morning, either jogging or a video, and then 15 minutes or so of strength training. I try to add in a 20 minute walk at lunchtime, but that doesn't happen every day. I work full time and have 3 busy children, so commute to a gym and/or multiple hours a day of exercise are not possible for me.

Keen to be lean in 2018!

Right now I'm "working out" about 90 minutes a day, sometimes up to 2 hours. Having said that, quality is absolutely better than quantity.

If I wanted to or had to, I could get the same fitness effect in only 30-40 minutes, 4-5 times a week. And when I'm crunched for time, that is exactly what happens. Even when I do have all the time I need, what I consider my actual workout of the day seldom goes past 40 minutes, and I only do it 5-6 days a week. The rest is all dance practice.

I'm totally a believer in quality versus quantity. You can get a great cardio workout in 30-45 minutes and a great strength workout in the same amount of time. The key is that you're varying your routine regularly and challenging yourself. I definitely do not think you need to spend 2 hours a day in the gym to see results.

Also keep in mind that the majority of your weight loss progress comes from diet, not exercise. Although exercise is important, it's just one piece of the puzzle.

I have worked hard to go to the gym/work out at least 3 times a week if not more. It seems like to me the people i see who are in great shape at the gym are there for at least 2 hours if not more. At most i work out for an hour to 90 minutes tops. I have always been told (even in my old high school football days) that you should focus more on quality over quantity. I just feel like 90 minutes a day isn't enough as i feel like i have improved a little bit but really don't have a lot to show for it. I spend at least 30 minutes doing various cardio exercises and the remaining time doing strength training. What is your take on the amount of time you should spend working out? Is quality better of quantity?
