I had 9 sessions. It's not very painful, except in the wallet.

It did help the problem, but I wonder if it would have gone away on its own with fewer sessions, maybe 3-5 instead of 9.

I did shockwave because my normal methods of dealing with achilles irritation (Graston, ART) was not working that time.

Although I've experienced a variety of foot problems over the past decade...I've never heard of, nor had, shockwave therapy recommended. My suggestion would be to get a second opinion from an unrelated but registered Podiatrist. It could be something new...and helpful....or it could be an "out in left field, shot in the dark, waste of time and money"... ??!! Have you tried searching the NIH websites or Podiatry Today websites for articles or studies showing effectiveness?

If it is a new, alternative therapy...it might still work depending upon your specific issues. I'm not trying to shoot it down just because I haven't heard of it, but it does make me pause and wonder. I've been seen by some pretty competent podiatrists.... All the best,
patti

PS...I was curious, so checked a few articles, this one caught my eye: runnersconnect.net/is-shockwave-therapy-an

Hi,

Has anyone tried shockwave therapy for Achilles tendinopathy? or for other foot related issues like plantar fascitis? if so, did it help? What was your experience like

I've had it suggested by several health professionals to help with chronic achilles tendinopathy but it sounds a painful option and i'm not sure how helpful it will be - just wondered how others found it
