Exercises for people with limited mobility don't need to be easy. Goodness, I have watched people in wheelchairs do marathons. 26.2 miles with their arms! To accomplish this, they need to work hard to build strength and endurance, just like anyone training for such an event.

Well, I am happy to hear you got the all clear to exercise. Losing some weight by your March birthday is a great goal.

So, your birthday is in about 6 months. Healthy weight loss averages 1 to 2 pound per week. Sometimes you'll lose more, sometimes less, sometimes nothing and you might even gain! It can be frustrating but a reasonable goal might be anywhere from 24 to 50 pounds.

One important thing to remember is that healthy living is 80% nutrition, 20% exercise. In other words, you can't out exercise bad food choices.

So, if you haven't started tracking, I encourage you to start now. Make some small changes now like increasing water consumption, getting in more fruits and vegetables, and such.

This is important probably right now because it sounds like you are recovering from a rather badly broken leg. You probably won't be able to move as much as you like as you continue to heal and regain strength. Making smart nutrition choices during this is vital to give your body the chance to heal properly.

Also, since you are in a wheelchair, has your doctor cleared you for exercise? And since it appears you are trying to regain mobility, you may wish to get a referral to work with a physical therapist who can help you develop a plan to meet your goal of standing. Of course, if you are already working with one, great.

All of the workouts here can be done from a seated position.

Hope that helps,
