I prefer to ride my stationary recumbent bike in the morning and practice yoga in the afternoon. I am retired (lucky me) and can be flexible depending on what's on the calendar for the day.

late afternoon or evening, when less busy

I have pleurisy, 2 types of anemia, macrocytic anemia, Iron deficiency anemia, from blood transfusions with wrong antibodies, causes blood to replace daily instead of 100 days, chronic pneumonia, pleurisy, chronic kidney disease, a partially collapsed lung, low blood pressure & blood clots in both lungs for 3 years. Now formed scar tissue.I am 56 years old. I had cervical cancer 6 years ago, no signs last 4 years as well. I have new blood clots now,2019.I am on P.S.T. time zone.

At night; no time in the AM. (Except, I guess my AM barn chores DO count, since I have to walk 8 horses to their pastures, and that ends up being about a half-mile.)

My husband works nights, so after he leaves, I have time to myself. I don't need to feel guilty when I spend over an hour in the corner of the "man cave" where I'm allowed to keep my fitness equipment.

Early morning, usually around 2:30-3 am. Have to be at work at either 5 or 6, depending on the day... and I don't trust myself to do it at the end of the day. Plus, I like having the gym to myself.

Afternoon (after work). Tried being a morning workout person, but just cannot do it. I don't relish the idea of getting up at 4am and going from zero to 60 while I'm still brushing off the cobwebs of sleep.

I find afternoon workouts turn into a great stress-reliever and they also fatigue me at the right time in which I consequently end up sleeping like a rock that night (which is great.)

My Y opens at 4:45am & by 5:30 the lot is full. If I don't get there at opening, I find myself not going. After 5pm it is a zoo in there with waiting for equipment etc even though we have a huge amount of cardio equipment. Probably 25+ treadmills alone.

I work odd hours so when I work out varies. On my days off I like to get my business for the day done early and I usually end up working out in the early afternoon. Works great for me.

I swim 3-4 days a week afterwork in the pool at the school where I teach, so somewhere between 3:30 and 6 depending on whatever else is going on. I would love to swim before school, but the pool doesn't open early enough for me to get in an hour swim and shower and be at my desk by 7:30.

None of the above.
I spin at 9:30am every MWF.
I lift about the same time T & Th.
I walk in the afternoons as much as I can.

I have no rules. Well, maybe one. I don't kill myself. I'm only doing it to stay a bit fit and help my cardiovascular system function properly. I squeeze it in when I can. Usually two sessions a day of fifteen minutes or even three tens sometimes. I don't do much, but I bust my butt when I'm doing it to make it count as much as possible. I keep it shaken and mixed so the old muscles don't have a chance to get used to it. Then beyond this, I take hikes, walks, or bike rides as the opportunity presents itself.

Are you a morning bird or night owl when it comes to exercise?

I'm just starting out but I've exercised once in the morning before breakfast and it went great. I had way more energy throughout the day and for some reason it curbed my appetite and I didn't eat as much that day. And then I've also exercised once in the afternoon and I was sluggish through the exercise, just walked/stationary biked for bit and all in all didn't accomplish much. Plus even though I waited more than 2 hours after eating, my stomach hurt terribly after, so I guess I should exercise in the mornings and either go to bed early or squeeze in a nap when I had originally planned to exercise after class.

But I'm curious, are you one of those people who wake up at the crack of dawn to exercise? Or do you squeeze exercise in during lunch? Or do you wait until the evening?
