Apple is kind of known for not needing all the security stuff, though that might be ending. I'll just have to wait and see.

And I, too, dread having to get a new anything. Got my laptop and desktop used, good deals. Desktop was a bit of a pain to get going, but it's over now. I don't wanna have to get used to anything! Fat chance, huh?

Not familiar with Apple, but do you run an antivirus, ad blocker or anti-malware program? Sometimes they can change due to upgrade as well and then apply new parameters you never intended?

I also know what you mean about having to log in every visit being a PITA. Not sure what causes that to break either. I'm about to face my own nightmare as I bought a new machine and will face figuring out forgotten passwords and usernames as well as consolidating software and files from my last several machines. I keep replacing machines without migrating files and it's going to jump up and bite me in the butt if I don't get caught up. Good luck!

Niteman, I didn't think you were saying to switch permanently. Just wasn't understanding why it would be a problem only on Spark. It's a reasonable option. I do the same thing at work, but not with Safari.

I don't want to have to login on Spark ever on my own device once I log in and click remember me! I haven't for years. It wasn't that I had to log in multiple times per session. It was that Spark pages were forcing me to quit, and now I have to log in to facebook, the library, Spark, and several other places I never had to. Oh, well. I'll see if the problem goes away. May just be on Spark a lot less... emoticon

My point wasn't to get you to switch browsers or anything, but rather to switch temporarily. I've had this kind of problem in the past and found that by switching to Chrome, Edge, Opera, etc from Firefox or whatever for a few days until the offender has a chance to update I usually avoid all the troubleshooting because it's magically working again. The OS providers let these browser providers know well in advance mostly of upcoming changes and yet they still aren't ready when it happens. I've had the same thing happen with search engines. Bing was crashing this machine and I used Google exclusively for a week or two and now Bing is behaving again and I made no changes to anything before or after. Who knows why?

Hi,

If what you cleared, does the trick, that is great! But, if not, then you'll want to try again and also select the option to clear "cookies and other site date". Also, for time range, select "All time" (sorry I didn't think to say that earlier). Doing that may also help with the having to log in repeatedly issue. You should not have to log in more than once per session, so let me know if that keeps happening.

Thank you for getting back to me. I've been using Chrome for years. Will cleaning my cache wipe out all the places I'm logged in? That's already happened and it's really annoying. I have to sign in to Spark over and over when I've never had to before! I've been using Spark for 10+years. Why is this happening now?

I did just go clear images. I do not want to clear passwords or my history. Hope this solves the problem.

Hi,

If you have not already cleared your cache, please give that a try. As NITEMAN3D suggested, a different browser may help. Both Chrome and Firefox generally work well with SparkPeople (so clearing your cache in Chrome might do the trick).

Hope this helps!

Had to quit Chrome to read and post here. I'll try adding a browser tomorrow. Tx

No. My theory has always been you can't have too many browsers, so I would suggest trying a copy of Firefox or Opera or even Chromium (not Chrome) and see if you get better results. I like to have a copy of several browsers on my machines for troubleshooting in just this kind of situation. If none work, then it's a good bet it's site or provider related. If all but one work, then it's probably the browser. Sometimes MS updates break a browser until they catch up with the MS updates, but since you mention Safari, I'm guessing that's not a consideration unless Apple does the same thing now and then. I've also had difficulty with ad blockers and antivirus, but there again with Apple that may not be a consideration. Good luck with it.

Starting yesterday, I kept getting a dropdown box on Sparkpages saying the page was taking a long time to load and asking if I wanted to kill the page or wait. I tried both, but kept having the problem. Same thing on Safari. Then today, I got that little whirling ball that froze everything and I had to force quit twice. Now I get told Chrome didn't shut down correctly and I am logged out of all kinds of sites I am usually logged in to. I lost all my open tabs.

None of this is happening on any other sites I visit. Is anyone else experiencing this with Spark?
