It shouldn't be taking that long. What browser are you using? Have you tried a different browser to see if that makes a difference for you at all?

I get that. It is the search. It takes way too long and is very cumbersome. I will just have to find a different site to track on. A search that takes a few seconds on fitbit takes a few minutes here. Sorry but when you have multiple items to add. Just searching for banana takes a few minutes. I might just go with my paper planner even though I won't have the figures I want that way. It makes more sense than than going through the tedious process of searching, waiting for results, selecting. All of this takes longer than it should and is very glitchy on this site. Thanks for trying to assist.

I realize I don't have to follow your meal plans but that would be the easiest way to track nutrition. Entering manual is cumbersome at best and takes so long that it deters me from entering it which defeats the purpose.

You do not have to follow our meal plans if you don't want to. If you want to turn those off, you can click the don't show meal plans button/link that is below the Nutrition Tracker.

I really wish what we enter from nutrition in Fitbit could be sent to Sparkpeople. It is so much easier to enter things on the Fitbit app. Sadly they don't track a few nutrients I need to watch and Sparkpeople will. However Sparkpeople's entry method is just way to cumbersome. I guess you intend for people to follow your meal plans which just isn't practical.

@AMYGIRALDO - We only send your tracked food to Fitbit; we aren't able to change your nutrition goals on Fitbit.

Sorry about that!

Is this still the case, that Sparkpeople cannot receive food data from Fitbit?

SASHASMOM1122 - I just got back from maternity leave and am just now seeing your message on this old thread. It looks like your Fitbit is connecting and data should be flowing through for you now. If you are still having trouble though, please make sure you are syncing your device to Fitbit's website or app first.

Sorry, but the Fitbit connection doesn't allow for their food entries to be sent to us. We can only send that data to them.

I'm not really sure what you are asking to do for your goals and calories burned. We get your two most active categories for time and calories burned from Fitbit, but you can always remove those entries if you just want to enter your exercise on here. If you are trying to do something else, please clarify and I'll do my best to help with that.

But I track easier on my phone on my fitbit app. Can I have fitbit food tracking sync to spark? Also how should I change the calories that I burn to reflect my goals on here. Because fitbit counts the calories you burn resting. . ..

Yea, with CEELEE1111's helpful post, I was able to keep Sparkpeople from reporting my nutrition information to fitbit. For those of you who are a little confused as I was, I have created a tutorial on how this is done. Open this word document from dropbox and you will be on your way! Apparently I don't know how to put a link in my post but if you copy and paste the URL address below into your search engines address bar it should work fine.

CEELEE1111 - I am so happy you worked a solution, thank you so much! Do I make the change from sparkpeople.com or fitbit.com. Do I have to uninstall and reinstall or can I just go to settings and make these changes? I would love any information you can share!

It seems that I've figured out how (after much digging around.....and trial and error) to prevent the push from SparkPeople to FitBit.

From the initial FitBit set-up screen that comes up when you link to FitBit from SparkPeople, it is not clear that logging is not shared as a two-way sync. In all the multiple times that I was brought to this screen in my previous attempts to figure out what was going on behind the scenes, I did not realize that this was the underlying issue. Once I unchecked the 'Food and Water Logs' box it worked! I am no longer seeing my nutrition information in my FitBit dashboard.

PLEASE consider updating the information on the SparkPeople/FitBit set-up pages to better explain what to expect when a user links up a FitBit expecting that the two will seamlessly sync. I've spent several hours (literally, over three days, I've spent over 5 hours) trying to figure this out - and the information on how this works was just simply not out there. If I'd had clear explanation of what to expect up front, that would have been much preferable!

Thank you!! Hopefully this can help other Sparkers!

Hmmmm. And there's no workaround at all?

I understand what you're saying about it being a one-way update, but not having the ability to correct entry errors isn't going to help me reach my goals - right?

I don't suppose there are any plans to change the manner in which the data is pushed? It would seem this current back-end process completely defeats the purpose of having the nutrition data sync.

I've tried to research if there is any way to turn off the nutrition syncing and keep only the fitness tracking, but I'm not having success with finding any info on where/how to accomplish that. If that's possible, that would at least prevent having erroneous data being tracked.

No, the way the connection works doesn't allow for that. When you add a food on here, it is sent right then and there to Fitbit. The communication for food syncing is done as soon as you enter it here and once that is done, there is no more communication that can be re-synced except for new food added.

Coach Denise, Thank you for the reply, but what I'm asking is if there is a way to re-push nutrition data to FitBit. Once I've deleted the erroneous entries from FitBit, re-syncing does not update the FitBit site. Nothing from my corrected SparkPeople nutrition tracker goes back to FitBit.

Sorry, there isn't a way for us to remove food from Fitbit. The connection only allows us to send them added food data, not food data that you removed, so you would need to also remove that from Fitbit directly.

Is there a way to 're-push' the nutrition data?

It seems like once you remove the "oops I didn't mean to add those items" from the FitBit tracker, there's no way to re-sync. I've tried everything imaginable: removing/de-authorizing/unlinking and re-authorizing/linking/syncing on both the FitBit and SparkPeople sites. To no avail.

This is really not of any use at all if the data integrity is that iffy. And incredibly disappointing, seeing as how FitBit is HEAVILY promoted here on SparkPeople. . . What good is it to have tracking 'syncing' when the tracking doesn't sync?

Sorry, there isn't a way to only have part of the data sent. We only send the food data, we are not able to remove it from Fitbit's site when you remove it from here.

Like LADEEJ I often delete food on my Sparkpeople nutrition tracker. I use my nutrition tracker as a meal planner. I might change what I eat and delete from Sparkpeople but the fitbit nutrition tracker still shows those items. I would like my steps from my fitbit to report to Sparkpeople but I do not want Sparkpeople to report my nutrition to fitbit. Is there a setting I can change?

It looks like you would need to manually sync those days. If you haven't already, you may want to try reauthorizing your Fitbit connection and make sure you are allowing all permissions to be sure there isn't something missing there. To do that, go to your Fitness Tracker page, click on the button to Connect Devices/Apps, then click the Reauthorize button next to Fitbit and follow the prompt.

It seems to have started automatically syncing again as of 4/18 but before that everything is blank unless I manually sync it. Is there any way to sync all data?

It should automatically sync when you sync your device to Fitbit's app or website. Are you still needing to manually sync it on our site?

Should my Fitbit automatically be syncing with Sparkpeople? I have been using my Fitbit for a couple of years and have had them linked together for a while. I just logged into SP for the first time in a while and the data has not been syncing. I manually synced a few days which works, but any other days that I didn't manually sync are not updated. I also tried to Reauthorize where you set up the syncing though it was working for manual sync before I did the reauthorize. Is it something that should happen automatically? Will it just take some time to sync or do I need to manually do every day which I am not going to do. I want to track my exercise/steps, weight and sleep mostly.

Unfortunately, there isn't anything we can do with that other than have you manually delete those on Fitbit. The way the food syncing works is that it goes directly to Fitbit as soon as you log a food, but there isn't a way to make the changes when you delete a food.

Sorry about that!

I often copy meals from previous days to the current day. Then I delete whatever is not needed. When SP syncs my nutrition info to Fitbit Flex, the deleted foods stay causing Fitbit to report that I have gone way over my values. Is there anything I can do so that the correct info goes to Fitbit? Thanks so much!

I haven't been able to sync my fitbit data with SparkPeople for about 2 weeks now. My FitBit app receives my food data, but my exercise data is not being updated in my exercise tracker with Spark. Very frustrating. I have disconnected and reconnected several times . Is there something else I can try?

SUBTEACH55 - It looks like you do have your Fitbit account connected to our site. You do need to sync your device to Fitbit's site or app and we get the data from there. We are not able to get your data directly from your device, so please make sure you have actually synced to Fitbit's site or app.

On your start page, click on the button for Fitbit Details and you will see a page similar to what you saw for the Spark Activity Tracker with your different steps, distance, etc stats.

Hope that helps!

I am asking for help with fit bit flex 2. I am trying to get the same spark people page as I had with the sparker up until 2 wks ago.. The one with the awards, and break down menu of miles/steps/cals/etc. I have spoken in length to fit bit (which is all new to me) in trying to sync to SP. I have done all Fit bit states, and I do get a page on SP but it is only numbers under "fit bit tracker" which comes up on the SP page. There is no breakdown of what once was with the Sparker. I hope members reading this understand. What I want to see, is the old spark page with the goals, trophies, etc, and I cannot get any syncs. When I request sync, nothing happens other than some numbers on what shows as a "fitbit"spark people page. Help appreciated. Thank you.

Real success, is measured by all the effort put forth for the past year/months, to try to reach our goal. Making it to our goal, is just a random number we chose when we started this venture.. How we got there, all which we did, & continue to strive for,is truly, the "Success."

Well, unfortunately short lived fix... now, nothing works again... not from groups, individuals, looked up from data base, online or apps - all from FitBit comes to SP, but not the other way. They must have changed something else and broke it again? lol

Frustrating - just about not worth using if it can't stay working?

JAK111947 - It looks like they are giving us an error that says you need to reauthorize your Fitbit connection. Please go to the Fitness Tracker page, click on the button to connect devices/apps, then click the button to reauthorized Fitbit and allow that to happen.

Hopefully that will correct that for you.

My fitbit stopped syncing with sparkpeople 1/26/2017. When I try to sync I get a message that sync was requested but it doesn't go away. If I click again, it says that it will happen in 10-15 minutes but it never does.

AHH- Ureka, that's it. The groups work fine from online, but not from the APP... so I tried just a food item and it pulled right over. Tell your app developers this - they can hopefully fix that in the next round... awesome!

OH - and if they can fix the water too - none of that ever worked ;)

Thanks for that info! I just tried it on the SP app and that did send to Fitbit. However, that is for individual items. If you are using groupings, those do not get sent. Are you possibly using food groupings by chance?

Update.... now, if I enter food in SparkPeople.com (online, not the app), then it will show up on FitBit.com (app AND online)... but nothing shows up FROM SP APP TO FitBit APP or ONLINE. So, its something in the SP APP I would say.

All the info from FitBit APP shows up on SP though (app and online) - so SP is "pulling" its just not sending... if that helps. Thx!

It has been a while since my FitBit has synced as well and I have disconnected and reauthorized several times. It is frustrating because I like to use SparkPeople for my tracking but my fitness never shows up anymore...I just went back and it synced. Guess I jumped the gun posting this but I was frustrated...

Yes, even after reconnecting. I didn't mean delete food I meant I disconnected fit bit and the reconnected to try that. Then I added more food and water and non-sink to the fit bit. I think if you read this board a lot of people are having the same issues?

Even after you reconnected earlier today? Deleting here will not delete there. It only adds food from here when you add it on here.

Hi, yes, I tried food on both the apps and sites for both... it used to work 2 weeks ago for about 2 days - food, water, exercise, then, like everyone is saying here, it stopped. Tried reconnecting, deleting, and nothing syncs. I can see my Fitbit steps, activity on SparkPeople but not SP on Fitbit.

I'm not sure that water gets tracked over there. Did you enter a food item?

I just tried it again - from the SparkPeople App - I added 1 water, then go to FitBit app (both on iPhone) and sync Fitbit and still doesn't bring it over from SP?

We checked your account and it is showing that we are sending nutrition data to Fitbit now. It looks like you reconnected Fitbit this morning, so that probably fixed the problem. If you want to send previous days’ food to Fitbit, you would need to delete it and re-track it since it only gets sent to Fitbit at the time of tracking.

Still not syncing. SparkPeople are you listening? Fit bit shows up in spark people but none of the spark people show up in fit bit. No food is synced to Fitbit anymore. Why can't you fix this after 2 months?

We do not track food from Fitbit, but food tracked on here will be sent to Fitbit when you track it. It does not send that data to Fitbit after you have tracked the food already. It does it right then and there at the time of tracking only.

I am having a similar problem. Here are the details:
1. I just connected the Fitbit to the SparkPeople site.
2. The SparkPeople site shows my fitness data from the fitbit. :-)
3. The Fitbit app does not show the food/nutrition data from SparkPeople site. :-(

Shouldn't the info flow both ways?
Thanks!!

Are you still having trouble with this? As long as you still have the permission allowed for foods to go to Fitbit, your tracked food should be added to your Fitbit account when they are tracked on SparkPeople.

My Fitbit page is no longer updating my food logs from sparkpeople. It seems it's since I've gone to premium account for Fitbit. I have reauthorised several time with no luck. Any assistance would be great.

I'm not sure why it's happening, but your account shows that the token from Fitbit has expired, so the only thing you can do at this point is to go ahead an reauthorize and hopefully this time it will correct the issue.

I reauthorized my Fitbit the other day and it worked great for like 2 days. Now it's back to not syncing the data for steps, calories, and sleep. Any suggestions or do I need to reauthorize again? Are other people having issues after it seemed fixed?

SP got back to me a couple days ago and suggested that I reauthorize my Fitbit. I did that and it began tracking properly. Also they fixed Apple Health and removed it from my "Fitness Tracker" section.
