Dusted off my Fitbit. I set my step goal for 3500 and hitting that on a regular day is certainly a challenge. I walk in place each hour or so. I can only get in about 100 steps before my legs and lungs are screaming. I have to keep going and keep challenging myself to regain strength. This may well be the hardest I've faced since having respiratory failure 11 years ago. Only one solution: keep on moving. I know I can do this.

Not much exercise today. Not much sleep last night. I did get some housework done which was a huge challenge for me. It works for me as exercise. Back to both of them tomorrow.

I got some strength training in today. I planned on doing more as well as starting on the treadmill but I need more time to build up to that. All in good time.

Another day @ rehab. I believe this is visit #9. I am starting to see some improvement. Slowly, but it's not a race. Many days after this are spent mostly sleeping. Hoping to regain strength and continue making improvements.

Started back with pul rehab. Have to start over with supervision. So far so good. I know I have a long road ahead of me. And I have no idea where it will lead to this time. I just know I can't give up.

Yesterday was a rest day so only did 15 minutes on treadmill, but I did do something. Today going to my Dad's so won't get to exercise until late this afternoon -- but will be doing full 30 minute workout. Will try to get lots of other steps in besides that. Will check back later. Zelda I see you are really doing well and that encourages me. Thanks for that!

Did so much yesterday. Housework and got 6000+ steps. Exhausting for me. Could physically not get back on that treadmill. Slept way too late. Today was a toned down day. Got my 3500 steps in as well as some ST. Did get some vacuuming done.

I got my bicycle and hubby assembled it. Need to get a helmet so I can get out for a ride. So excited.

I ended yesterday just over 8000 steps. Today I have over 5000. I just set my new step goal to 3500. I may need to set it higher.

Good day today. One hour on the treadmill! Did a 28 minutes and stopped. I took a short 30 minute break and got back on for 32 minutes. I didn't go fast, but I did add some speed and some incline throughout both walks. 60 minutes! I am so proud of myself.
I am also over 7000 steps on my fitbit today. I feel amazing! emoticon emoticon

I continue to be challenged by my Fitbit. I started using it at the end of June and set 1000 steps a day as my goal. Well, I am now hitting 6000 steps a day! Wow! More than I thought possible this soon in.

Have to step up my strength training as well as my arm-r-cize. I have to build up strength to more easily carry my O2 without my blood oxygen saturation dropping to a dangerous level. I can and do increase the O2 flow, but I think I can do more.

Bring it on. Here I go.

It's been hit or miss for me on the treadmill. Some days I can do it and other days I can't do 5 minutes. But I keep trying. I do march/walk in place if I can't do the treadmill. Well today I did 15 minutes. A record for me! And later I did another 10 minutes.
I knew this wouldn't be easy, but I'll get there. Slow and steady.

This Fitbit of mine keeps motivating me! I set it to do 250 steps every hour for ten hours during the day. I hit 9 of them today. Don't know how I missed one, but I did 9!

I set my daily step goal at 1000. That was June 23. 9 days ago. That was a big enough challenge for me. I struggle sometimes. Well. Let me tell you. Today - I did just over 4800 steps and it's only 7 PM. Not that I'll do a whole lot tonight, but I am amazed at how much I did. After another week or so I will renew my daily step goals. Again. Not too little so that it's not a challenge, but not so much that I'll be discouraged.

Yesterday I got some marching in place done before the heat took over. 10 minutes is better than nothing.

I plan to be more active today. All I have to do is get off this big ol' butt of mine. Need to get some strength training in along with some cardio. And of course, I still have a ton and a half of housework and paperwork. Goodness. I want an assistant!

There's not enough hours in the day to do all I want to do. That plus the fact that I am SLOW!!!

Good start to the day. Marching in place while pooch did his business. Got out to do some gardening. Not for long. Didn't have gloves. Got them so I can do more tomorrow. This may take me forever.

Did some grocery shopping. I count 1/3 or less of that as exercise. I have only started doing this again since hubby's surgery on the 21st. Today was my second time out.

Got some housework done, and ended the night with strength training for my arms. Feeling so good. So motivated.

I was surprised to see I have a 2 week Spark streak for exercising at least 90 mins a week. It seemed monumental when I set the goal. I'm going to change it once I have a better handle on what I can and cannot do. It has to be challenging, but not so hard I fail. Little things like this motivate me.

Did my stretching today and the treadmill for a short time. I had to go grocery shopping and was in that store for an hour. I logged 20 minutes of it as exercise as it's not all walking.

Back at it today. Did the treadmill, arm exercises and stretches so far today. Hope to get back on the treadmill for some more. Working on building up my stamina so I can do longer sessions. Hoping to also get some extra housework in today.

I've struggled recently on the treadmill. Started out strong, but couldn't maintain. Today I did some strength training and marching in place. I'll try the treadmill again tomorrow and see how it goes. Patience.

Hubby's surgery was yesterday. I tried, but could only do 5 minutes on the treadmill. Didn't sleep well and the stress probably wore me out a bit. I did get some walking in though. I had to get prescriptions filled for hubby. While waiting, I got at least a 10 minute walk in at the store. And did it without my walker! BONUS!

Still getting my arm exercises in and.... wait for it..... today was day 2 on the treadmill!!!! Woo Hoo! I have to start small and break it up, but I started. I am so excited. Today I also did some strength exercises.
Since hubby's been home we have both been doing housework. I was so bad for so long and it really got out of hand. Hubby certainly did more than his part but I, well I didn't. Just a little more movement during the day.

Well. Got my arm exercises in and counted some housework as exercise too. I had to crawl around on all fours to vacuum with my old machine after my new one broke. Got a good workout in. Counted 1/3 as exercise.

Facing a new reality. Trying to make sure I get my arm exercises in to start with. It's time to be more pro active with this. Walking in place works well and is a great start to getting back on the treadmill. Baby steps. Better than no steps.

Got movement in today! I haven't posted it yet. For some reason, it's not a big deal when I only do 1 or 2 cardio things. I like to post when I also do ST. I guess I think it looks more impressive. It's OK. As long as I know, that's what counts.

Got some arm exercises in today. Too long without them. I have a chronic lung disease and have to keep them up so I can breathe easier. Treadmill tomorrow. It's just sitting there staring at me. Probably a little lonely. LOL

My goal is to be able to walk at least 1 mile without assistance by the middle of May. We're going to Boston for a Metallica concert. Our hotel is a mile from the stadium and there is no point in driving and paying $50.00 (!!!) to park. I thought $30 was high when we went to the Meadowlands in NJ. We can park in the city (New York City) for $50.00 but we have to pay a $15. toll to get over the river. This is what happens when you get old. Everything seems crazy expensive. emoticon

I almost ended up in the emergency room from intense muscle pain when I started doing 50 sit ups, 50 leg up and 50 jelly bean push ups. This time I am starting slow and easy. I am up to six a day. I do them in bed which is easier and convenient when I wake up. Tomorrow I will probably go up to ten and increase gradually. 50 is a real work out.

Too long since my last update. OK. For a bit more than a week now I have been consistent with my nutrition. That is huge for me. I am starting out slowly on the fitness front, improving on what I have been doing. I'm ready to kick it up a bit.
While I am still hoping to walk 5K this year, my shorter term goal is to walk 1 mile without using my walker. I can only achieve this by getting on that treadmill every day. Walking in place at least five times a week in addition to the treadmill. And of course, strength training once a week to start. Moving up to twice a week by the end of April.
I have always pushed too hard with fitness and nutrition and it has not served me well. I have to do whatever it takes, however slow it may be to start meeting my goals. But I know I can.

One day at a time - you can do it! I started with Couch to 5k etc - and am now a regular runner. Even if you don't want to become a 'runner', being able to walk, jog, run for 3 miles is a fitness goal worth achieving.

I joined a challenge. I am usually so afraid to fail that I don't do such things. I joined the 5K Your Way Walking Challenge.
A few weeks ago I decided one of my goals would be to do a 5K. Didn't know how long it would take to run one, but you can WALK one!!!! WHAT??? How sad would it be if I did not at least try?
2016 sucked. Bad. Sucked the life from me. Time to reorganize. Time to be my priority. Time to let people go that made me feel like that. I think I'm ready.

Oh I know I can't depend on him, but he cannot depend on me. In this area we are toxic for each other. We love each other to death, but... Yes, he will lose about 10 pounds in his first week. I'm happy to lose 1. I often gain. But then we have those nights where we plan on having fish, salad and veggies for dinner and I'll say - Do you want to just grab a pizza? That was tonight. He worked late and didn't get home until 9, so who wants to cook then? Terrible excuse. I know. It's a new schedule and we need to work on it. But I cannot put all of the blame on him, as much as I might want to. LOL

I'd say to never depend on a man to get you motivated to lose weight and be healthy. It is so easy for them. My husband decided to go on a diet when I did two years ago and I dropped 10# in 8 weeks, and he dropped 35#. He started at 190#, so he was really thin at the end of that 8 weeks. He decided that weight was too thin for him so he went back up to 170# and has stayed there.

Did some walking in place today along with my arm r cise and some ST. As long as I can do some every day I'm good. I'm not looking to break any records, only to know at the end of the month that I did what I could to help myself and do it again the next month.

Still getting my arm r cise in. I realize that one of the reasons I may have so much trouble lifting and carrying things is because I stopped doing these simple exercises. I also have to practice my diaphragmatic breathing as that's another trouble spot.
I am very anxious to do more exercise than I have been but I have to take a slower start and let myself get stronger. Still hoping to get a bike but haven't gotten out lately to look. Patience.

Well I started the week OK. A little later than planned, but I started. I did the arm r cise that I learned in pulmonary rehab and I also did the seated cardio video here on Spark. Just have to keep it up and add to it as I go along.

Well I've done OK so far with walking for the past few days. Tomorrow begins a new challenge. I would love to say I can just jump in and kick butt, but I have physical issues and will have to go slower than I would like to.
And that's OK. Slow is better than stopped. Slow allows me to build myself up and be not quite as slow. As long as I don't give up I will grow, get stronger and be able to do a little more each week.
My goal right now is just to do the best I can every day I can.

emoticon Time to make some fitness goals. I've fallen off the proverbial wagon. It doesn't matter why. It only matters that I start again.

Since I never really know what I can do from one day to the next I am breaking this up into 2 week segments.
Week 1 - Treadmill 4 times a week for at least 15 minutes. Longer if I can.
Strength training twice a week. Remembering to start slow.
Stretching 5 days a week.

Once I make it through two weeks I'll be able to set new goals and improve.
