A few years ago I was stuck between 200 to 210 and wore medium dresses and size 16 shorts. Unfortunately, I way 288 and I’m in the 20’s. I wear a 2 to 3X in shirts and 20 to 22 in pants (3X in leggings). I’m 5’3 and live in the US. I would love to drop 80 pounds and be happy in my medium to large size clothing again lol.

Most of my weight is my thighs and my stomach. I’m 28 years old.

I can do it!! emoticon

I weigh 261 and wear a size 20 pant. My great moment though was going down froma 1-2 x to an x shirt on my birthday last week.

Small steps consistently over time will lead to success.

I believe in myself and I am ready to put in the work today for the success tomorrow.

I'm 43 and 5'8" tall. At my highest weight (220 lbs in January 2017) I wore XL clothes and was about a size 16. Today I weigh 135 lbs and wear size 2-4 and XS/S depending on the brand. The strangest thing about losing weight is that my body shape changed so drastically. I've been overweight my entire adult life and my body was always hourglass shaped. Now that I've lost weight, I've (sadly) almost completely lost my butt as well as my hourglass shaped figure. My bra size is 32DD (I wore a 36DD at my highest weight), my waist is 27" and my hips are 36."

Currently I'm weighing in around 178 and I'm wearing 14-16 stretch jeans. At 5'3" this isn't a good place to be but I'm working on it.

I know several people have responded to the person calling people liars already and that they posted that months ago, but I just had to respond haha.

At my highest weight, I was 309 and wearing a size 22-24 (maybe a 26 but they were big). I'm now at 193 and I'm wearing a size 12. Trying to get down to a 10 and be below 190.

Oh, and I'm 33 years old, 5'10" and carry most of my weight, sadly, in my stomach.

It's so sad that there are people who cannot focus on themselves and be positive about others. Putting others down for any reason is unacceptable. Even on the off chance that they are not being completely truthful, that is something they need and will work through as they go through this process. How does that hurt you? Human bodies are different, there are many factors that contribute to what size a person wears. The brand of clothes, the body type, the body frame, muscle mass, age, etc the list goes on. We are all human beings and we all have feelings. What a wonderful world it would be if we could build one another up instead of being jealous or envious of each other or trying to make ourselves feel better by putting someone else down. I've finally learned in my 1/2 century of living, that the way to be happy is to be grateful, make others feel good about themselves and focus on the positive. I truly believe that what goes around comes around and the nicer you are the nicer your life is. To those who may have been hurt by any posts, just believe in yourself and give no energy to those that have been negative. Their negative comments do not matter.

An example on size. My niece and I both weight about 270, and we are both 5' 5". I normally wear 3x and 26 in pants. My niece wears 2x and 1x and is more busty than I am. In pants she wears 22's. and her hips are larger than mine. But I have a larger waist, so my pants are larger. I carry my weight in my stomach and she doesn't. So you can't go by weight and height alone.

I weight 240lbs and 5’7 right now and I wear anywhere from a 12-16 it definitely depends on the jean/pant type but I am going to say I mostly but a 12 stretch. No it is not too snug but if a 16 fits the same I have no issue buying them. I know a lot of people are saying “that’s not real” to other people so I obviously expect the same but yes that’s my size :)

Glad I'm not the only one who reacted strongly to that post, CKOUDSI617. Your response was much more concise than mine, though! :)

But, yes, people are shaped differently, have different body compositions, and wear clothes differently. That can be true of even the same person at different times in their life -- it certainly was true for me.

And as you point out, clothes sizes have changed over time -- I had trouble fitting into a 14 many years ago at the same weight that a 10 was loose on me fairly recently. And different brands are different as well -- which can be frustrating if you're not familiar with how a particular maker sizes things!

So there's basically no point in worrying too much about the size # on the tag (our own or someone else's). Life is hard enough - let's be supportive of one another on this journey! :)

Starting Weight: 268 lbs. (November 2010)
Quasi-Maintenance: 165 lbs. (June 2011)
Goal Weight: 150 lbs. (reached December 8, 2011)

Size 22W to Size 4

Currently maintaining within 5 lbs. (+ or -) of goal. I weigh daily, but also use a tape measure and the fit of my clothes to guage how well I'm doing.

"Disgusting"? REALLY? Hostile much, Sheryllee3? Please, do take some etiquette lessons or stay off these boards! You're not helping ANYone, least of all, yourself! As DJT might Tweet, "Sad..."

Everyone is different, everyone's shape and body type are different. There are some people with high bone density and/or musculature that weigh more but take up less space. I know someone (female) who is 6'1" and over 200 lbs. and she actually wears size 12! (Sometimes 14 though.) It IS entirely possible. I have another friend who is 4'9" and weighs the same as me (about 160). She has to wear tops that are 2X because of her belly size (where she carries most of her excess weight).

You have no way of knowing who's lying and who isn't. (Sorry to state the obvious.) Despite your negativity and lack of manners, I still wish you all the best and hope you find some light on your journey.

Sizes have definitely increased over the years! I have a size 14 pair of jeans from the 80's that I could never even hope to zip up right now, LOL - yet I have a size 8 pair of jeans from a couple of years ago that fit fine!

5 feet 3.5 inches at 159.2 lbs. today. Size is generally 10/12, depending. Mediums are a bit tight and Larges are a bit loose, generally. I have size 8 jeans that fit, but they were expensive and I'd guess they run larger. My "XL" winter coat from last year is "swimming" on me; so I switched to the "L" I have and I can wear a heavy sweater (or two) under it with the zipper and all the snaps fastened and I still have room.

We CAN do this!

At 267.7 I was wearing 3x and 26 pants. I am 5'3"
I now hovering at am 230 and I wear 1x or xl shirt and can wear a large but it it snug. I am wearing 20 or 22 pants. Some 20's are snug.

I have size 18 pants from 16 years ago and they are way smaller then the 20s.

Sizing varies from different companies. How people carry weight varies. If you workout a lot you will weight more but be thinner.

1 pound of muscle weight the same as 1 pound of fat. The muscle takes up much less space though.

I carry my weight is what they consider and apple shape and am top heavy.

I went from a 50 to 44 band size. The cups on the brand I have been buying are a 3d. If I buy the good bras I measure an H. I don't like the tightness of the 44 so I wear the 46. The lady measured me at 44h. I did not like the fit of those.

Sorry for the long post, but suggesting that other people are "lying" because your experience with weight vs. size is a little different seems more than a bit harsh. The reality is, people really DO carry weight differently, and thus can wear vastly different sizes at different weights. It can also really depend on who made the clothes, and how they're cut.

I am 5'7", and 45 years old. In my profile pic, I am wearing a fitted, non-stretch Banana Republic size 2 dress... and I weighed just under 150 pounds (I think I weighed in at 149.5 that day). That dress was honestly just a bit snug (and was intended to be), but I could breathe/move just fine. The pic was taken on New Year's Eve 2012 and I wore that dress all night through a multicourse dinner and dancing afterward, and was comfortable throughout. (Oh, those pre-kid New Years' Eves!)

For comparison, I often took a 2 or XS in Athleta (I had a LOT of their stuff - everything I'm wearing in the vacation photos saved to my profile is Athleta 2/XS), but for suits/work attire (Brooks Brothers, J. Crew, mostly) I mostly wore size 4's at goal weight (~150), but had to have the waist taken in on most of them - my hips are a little wide, so typically needed a 4 to accommodate them - though I could often do a 2 in a "fit and flare" cut skirt/dress, for example. I'm a lawyer - so wear suits or "dressy" fitted clothes for work, mostly - you can't really "fudge" those sizes much. I was even a size 0(!) in most Gap clothes (and a few others with generous sizing). Some brands I liked (like J. Jill) I had trouble finding anything at all that wasn't too big. (Seriously.) On the other hand, in very high end stuff, I took a larger size - sometimes as "large" as an 8. Not that I bought too much "high end" stuff, but just pointing out that "designer" sizes are much smaller than what you would buy off the rack even at nicer retail stores. My point is that I could wear a 0 or an 8 at the very same weight (again that was 150), depending on who made the clothes.

I had not planned to stop at 150, by the way, but I started to look "too thin" when I got much below that. I was very surprised that I was so small at 150 - though if I was being picky, I would have liked my legs to thin out a bit more (you can see from my pics they are on the heavy side) -- but the extra weight was coming off my boobs/face, and NOT my legs, so it was not looking flattering. So I decided to live with it. Probably will this time as well, unless my legs cooperate this time!

For an objective opinion, my cardiologist described me (at 150 pounds), without any irony, as "a very small person." He was right! I have a rather small, although apparently heavy, frame! Nurses NEVER guessed right (or even close) when I weighed in, and were always surprised at how much I actually weighed vs. what I looked like.

I am back here at Spark now to lose my pregnancy weight (my 2nd baby was born in May - and I gained a LOT of weight, due in part to needing hormone therapy to sustain the pregnancy, and due to being in a month long trial at 6/7 months pregnant, with 18 hour days, bad food, and no exercise). I am 185 today (after (re)losing 40 pounds!). Right now I'm very comfortably wearing size 10 fitted pants and a medium top and sweater (all J. Jill - which does run a little big), and suits are in the 10/12 range (12 for Brooks Bros/Eileen Fisher, 10 for J. Crew/Ann Taylor).

Even how the same weight looks on the SAME PERSON can vary over time. I am a bit smaller now than last time I reached 185 in 2011 (I can tell by the clothes I'm pulling from my archives), but not by a lot. But when I first hit 185 (gaining weight) years ago, a 14 was very tight, and I mostly wore 16s. I recall I was definitely still a bit over 200 when I got my first pair of size 14 Lucky Brand jeans last time (2011), and only very slightly under for my first 12s. This time I was still on maternity leave at that weight - but my XL yoga pants were falling off well before I hit 200 lbs. But "back in the day" when I first hit 200 pounds, I was in an 18 (at least, sometimes larger), and couldn't DREAM of fitting into a 14.

This was all just a (very) long way of saying - don't get so hung up on the numbers, either on the scale or on your clothing tags (or measuring tape), and ESPECIALLY don't get too hung up on someone else's numbers. I know women especially feel a lot of pressure to be "smaller" (and indeed I've found myself feeling embarrassed for weighing "so much" even while wearing a size 2!) - but frankly, the numbers don't say anything about your value as a human being. (Yes, I do realize the irony of saying “don’t focus on the numbers” when I can report what size I wore at what weight pretty much all the way back to my teens – I am definitely guilty of worrying too much about my size/weight as well!)

Let's cheer each other on as we reach our goals, not tear each other down. I am truly thrilled for each and every person who reaches a new goal/milestone - whether that's finally getting down to a 4X after years barely squeezing into 5X, finally getting down to “one-derland” on the scale, or finally taking off the "extra 10 pounds" to fit into their skinny jeans from high school. And I'm going to be thrilled for myself when I get back into my pre-pregnancy clothes again (soon!). But we all deserve each other’s' respect along the journey.

I depends on where the clothes are bought. I am 5'4 and currently at 231 lbs. I buy the majority of my clothes online at Avenue and wear a 14/16 dress and 16 pants. However, if I buy something online at Roman, the 16 is very, very big. Kohl's---I can't even begin to think of a 14 OR a 16 in anything. At Walmart the Faded Glory pullover shirts, I wear a 2x-3x.

I'm 68 and have been a Sparker for 10 yrs. When I joined I was a horrible 214# wearing a 16P and my husband said that was an oxymoron. I got red marks around my gut from the pants being so tight. Now I'm 147# & 5'4". I finally found a doctor who put me on Metformin, (blood sugar is 115), Bydureon, and Armour thyroid (I take at night) so I don't have hunger anymore. I still want to release another 20#.

If it's OK for a 55 year old male to answer this question...

Goal achieved! Scale reflected 202.0 this morning down from 252.4 on Apr18. That's 50 lbs my fellow Sparkers. Tracking every calorie works!

I began my journey with a 44 waist and now am under 38. I l went through an entire belt from barely squeezing into the first loop to the very last loop not being tight enough for me.

The lies on this thread are truly disgusting .
Folks of the female persuasion weighing in at over 200+ lbs......claiming to wear a size "14"? Really? How about this.....185 lbs? You wear a size 16...200+lbs?..you wear a size 22-24. 250lbs?....you wear a size 26-28
Stop lying everybody!

I'm 58 years old, a mom of 7, grandmother of 11 (so far), and post menopausal. I weigh 143 lbs, am 5'4" and currently wear a size 10 pants (sometimes an 8 if it runs big) and a medium top, and a size 10 dress. This is the biggest I've ever been except for pregnancy. I weighed 110 when I graduated H.S., and 114 at age 25 when I married. I still weighed 117 after having all my babies at age 34. I slowly gained 10 lbs over the next decade into my mid-40's, and then added another 15-16 lbs from age 45-58 (thank you menopause emoticon ). I know I would feel better in my skin as a size 6 or even an 8, but that said I have no delusions of ever being the size 4 I was in my 20's.

I'm 5'6" and weigh 175.4 lbs. I remember when I sold all my size 10 jeans because they were too big...now I am a 12 sometimes a 14. I also remember when a 12 was my dream size. I lost 60+ lbs and was a solid 8. I had knee surgery and have put back on 30+ of the 60 I lost. I'm looking forward to the size 10 phase again and size 8 is the goal...well, healthy is the goal!

Today I weigh 326.4 lbs and wear size 3X. I'm 5'10 height.

When I weighed 245 lbs I wore size 15 jeans. I'd like to fit back in my jeans I wore at 245 lbs and continue to lose weight even after I fit those jeans. emoticon

215 lbs I wore size 13. *Size 8 was smallest I fit in to then* I had a lot of muscle at 215 lbs from lifting very heavy gym weights.

185 lbs I wore size 11. *Size 8 was smallest size I fit in to then*

162 lbs I wore size 9. Size 4 *x-small* was the smallest size I fit in to then.

SIZE UNKNOWN? I was anorexic @ 110 lbs in high school and never looked at sizes. I was very active and on extreme diets most of the time. My parents were only interested in the lower food cost, not my health. My father had anger and control issues and there were usually fights at the dinner table emoticon about anything at all including ridiculing me for being fat. I was avg 130 lbs then and my ribs stuck out. My height has been 5'10 since I was 9 years old....My mother had $10 000 worth of diet books but she never lost weight. My mother never wanted children all she wanted was my father's life insurance money. My father did not want a girl child whatsoever but would not allow me to move to Britain with my rich relatives who wanted me.

SIZE 14 TO SIZE 18 ~ I moved with my grandparents when I was 16 and my grandmother initially told me to eat whatever I wanted in their house. My grandparents were very kind to me, but in 2 years I gained 100 lbs. After high school I moved out with a boyfriend and he delivered fast food. emoticon I was 248 lbs! The boyfriend would say I wasn't fat...then one day after we'd been dating 2 years he told me I was too fat but I was the same weight as when he was saying I was not. I was the same weight as when I met him. 248 lbs for me was size 16 To 1X.

SIZE 4 TO SIZE 12 ~ I decided to break up and move out from his place and went on an extreme diet and fitness regime. In approx 1 year got down to 162 lbs. I wore anywhere between size 4 and 12 depending on the garment. emoticon That is extra small up to large sizing. Average size 9. Men would stalk me and women wanted to hurt me.

I was in University full time and the head professor propositioned me sexually and when I wouldn't do what he wanted, he ruined my chance of completing my schooling. He spread lies about me and made all of my classmates ridicule me out of fear he would do the same to them as he was doing to me. I began to gain weight rapidly again. emoticon 162 lbs turned into 285 lbs. It wasn't only what he did to me that was bothering me...I broke my collarbone and still had unresolved issues about previous abuse from my parents....

207 LBS IS SIZE 8 TO 14 FOR ME ~ Then I got pregnant with my 1st child. I was 300 lbs the day he was born. I was as big as a house. emoticon People ridiculed me in public for my weight. I went on another extreme weight loss mission and was able to drop to 207 lbs within 1 year.

I never had resolved my issues with my parents. I am now 39 years old and realize none of it is my fault! emoticon There is a saying "Don't mistake kindness for weakness" I could go on and on to analyze what that means to me..

SIZE 2 TO 4X ~ I gained all the weight back I had lost. My 2nd child was born and there were (AND STILL ARE) complications due to my obesity. The doctors all tell me not to gain more weight. EXCEPT I am not in my 20's anymore....I can't eat pizza or fries and still lose weight just by exercising! I realize I must count calories, drink more water, as well as not overdo the exercise as well as cut LECTINS & SALT from my diet....and not to allow other people to control my emoticons emoticon.

Once I started doing all these things I am seeing weight come off. I am size 2-3X and my goal is to get back to 158-162 lbs but honestly any weight under 200 lbs would be a huge success for me. I plan to lose 14 lbs a month for about 1 year....at least, that is what I am trying for. Hey, they lose more than 8 lbs a month on the Biggest Loser I am sure gonna put my efforts into losing all this weight at home. What with all of the knowledge I have acquired from a lifetime of weight issues, perhaps I could become a Nutritionist or Personal Trainer or Counselor. I bought a bathroom scale to try to watch my weight and bought fitness equipment to use at home. emoticon Currently I am 329.5 lbs ~ Highest weight 335 My husband is 6'3 200 lbs and I'm sure he wont let anyone hurt me when I am thin again..I don't want to die from obesity and I don't want to die from anorexia! I really want to focus on doing what I need to do to keep the weight off this time, and be healthy for my kids and husband. AND FOR MY SELF

....And honestly if I had no grandparents to take me in and care for me at age 16, I really don't know if I would ever be her sharing my story and my size journey with you.

I'm 5'5, 48 years old, weigh 269, and wear a size 18 in jeans. Which is odd, because several years ago, I had to wear like a size 24 or 26 in pants. My legs and butt are smaller now, I think I lose muscle mass with age, and that's why I can wear smaller clothing now. Last year I wore a 4x shirt, I think I only lost about 10 lbs, but can now wear a size 3x. 2xwould probably fit, but I like my shirts baggy.

I weight 274 lbs and wear between size 20 and 24 depending on the clothing. Tired of being in the 2's - 200 lbs and 20's. Enough.

I love these questions because they show the variety of the human body.

I am 5'5" (65 inches) tall. I'm currently weighing about 345 pounds and wear 26/28 tops and 28 jeans, which I also wore at my highest weight of 365. I know around 300 pounds I wore a size 26 jean and either 22/24 or 26/28 tops. When I got down to 240 pounds, I wore size 18 jeans and 18/20 tops.

My chest has also changed over my weight loss journey. When I started almost a decade ago, around 330 pounds, my bra size was 48G. When I got down to 240 pounds, I wore a 40G. Now at 345 I am a 44H.

Bodies are equally fascinating and frustrating. :)
