Progress update: I am now at 140 pounds (5'3" tall) and comfortable wearing size 8 pants. Size medium shirts still fit but are looser on my body. I am amazed by the difference!

I weigh about 220. I am 5 foot 8, just had a baby plus dealing with not being able to go anywhere due to the pandemic. I want to get down to at least 150.

I'm 157-160 now and fit comfortably in a size 6. I want to get back to my 4s and not all of my 6s fit comfortably yet so some are too tight to wear. My 8s are way too big now. I'm 5'4"...

204 and I don’t know what size! That’s why I’m on here. Dealing with the pandemic has caused me to gain about 30 pounds total, and I’m at the highest weight I have ever been. I’m a smidge over 5’4. I fit into SOME size M yoga pants, without them being see-through. Otherwise I’m mostly a size L in comfy bottoms... I refuse to wear jeans because I don’t know what the number will be that I fit in... but I’m about to start getting myself out there with an old flame and I don’t want to show up wearing spandex. I’m also getting ready to move in with some family, and I’m positive that life is about to become more joyful and, therefor, less geared towards stress eating. Positive feedback and suggestions are greatly welcomed. emoticon

Interesting topic. I hesitated to answer because the sizes that are so small make me seem like an Amazon. Even when I was down to a more normal weight for my body, 135ish, I was a size 12 in slacks. My dress was a 10/12. When a person says a size 5 or 6 I don't think I was ever in a size that small once I hit puberty. I am a curvy woman, with a round bottom and full figure bra size. At 5feet 5 inches I weigh about 206 currently. This weight range is new this last year, which put me in a double X top and an 18/20 jeans depending on the brand. Sometimes I need a sz 20. My waist is relatively small so I can get away with a size 12/14 dress if it is loose fitting. Being in this weight range is a high I never thought I would reach but I am working hard to get to a more body friendly weight. My goal is 155.

Slowly but surely I will attain and pass my goals!!

5’5 and 155 lbs. still size 12 pants. Highest weight 170 lbs. . should be in a 10 after 5 more pounds. I know I was a size 6 at 132 pounds because I see my old pants still in my closest waiting for me once I lose 23 more pounds.

I started this journey at 200lbs after having my twins. I was a US size 14, and didn’t wear jeans. It took me 2.5 years to get down to 183lbs. And I actively started to lose weight in April 2020.

I am now 150lbs at 5’6” and I wear US size 6, S/M, and size 27 Levi’s. My goal weight is 120lbs.

I grew to a whopping (for me) 210!! I'm down 5 lbs. I've never weighed this much and at 5'5" I feel like a rolly polly. Size L tops, size 14 bottoms. They fit my curvy rear and hip better if I buy from the plus sizes. Such a difference in fit between a regular 14 and and 14 plus.

I'm surprised by the sizes I see because I am 5'5" and 190 lbs; I've loss 30 lbs in the last year but still wear a 1-2/X, I have large hips(always have) maybe that is why.

hi!! i am 5'5 ish about and weight 125 lbs. i am a size 2 in most clothes!! i am also a size small if you want that type of sizing. i feel super unconfident though because a size 2 is supposed to be an xs but i'm not that, im a small. if anyone could explain this that would be great. also, my body doesn't look like i should be a 2. i looks like i should be a 4 or 6 but i'm not. it makes me feel super bad about myself. but 2's fit me so idk what to do.

Impressed with those willing to share here. So I will share that I haven't made it to 5 lbs yet. But I feel I am on my way. I have done better logging my food for the last 3 weeks and being more active. Still working on sleep patterns, reducing sugar, consistent exercise etc. Managed to lose a little over 5 lbs in 3 weeks. So I am think that is pretty much on track "normal" if you will. But I know I could do much better if I stuck to a better eating regime. But hey the scale has moved that that is something!

My guess for my current weight will be an M. Additionally due to shoulder width it might remain as an M. We will see.

Size by weight is not a real thing. I am considered about 20lbs overweight by “average” charts for a healthy woman. At last check I weighed 172 lbs. I am 5’8” and wear a size 5/6... no not old school 5/6 . Today’s size 5/ 6 ( apparently old sizes are different than new sizes) That is in everything except fitted bodices and that is simply a product of a bra size of 32F. With any new nurse at any doctors appointment they tare the scale after I get weighed and ask me to step back on and I tell them “no that’s about right” . Idk why I weigh so much but I do I can’t be the only one, that’s statistically impossible. I think it proves that we all give our weight a little too much weight. ( see what I did there. Lol)

124 and working to get back to 120-122. Size can vary from 6 to 8 depending on manufacturer.

When I started my journey to become healthier in June 2016, I weighed 165 lbs and wore a size 12 - 14.

I keep a family photo with me at my old weight hanging in my hallway as motivation to maintain my new lifestyle, and remind me that besides my health, the three most important reasons are my husband and two kids.

I'm 5' 10" and currently weigh 165 lbs. I also just turned 60 y/o!! About 2 yrs ago I weighed 197# and sometimes that fluctuated to 205 with a BMI of over 30 (overweight) wearing a size 14 to 16 when 200+

Now, at 165 my BMI says 28.8 and this is the first time in decades that I'm a NORMAL weight for my height! I'm thrilled!

When I decided to make a lifestyle change, I chose intermittent fasting. So for the last 18 - 24 months when I committed to losing weight, this has worked for me and my goal is 150 but I'm also so happy with where I am now!

I'm not sure what size I'm wearing right now because I want to hit my goal weight before I invest in a new wardrobe, but I've been given some clothes from friends who outgrew their size 12 Jean's and they fit very nice. I am not into tight fitting clothes and the size 12 Jean's are worn in so feel baggy. With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if I could wear a size 10.

So, we'll see where I go from here and by summer maybe I'll be 155. This final 15lbs is tough.

Keep it up ladies if you're on a weight loss program! As someone once famously said, "nothing tastes as good as thin feels". And I must agree!

I’m an 18 y/o female, i’m 5”7 and i weigh about 118lbs down from about 210. I’m not 100% sure what my jeans size’s are. Usually a 4 but they’re starting to become big so most likely a 2. and with most shirts are xs to s.

I'm 5'9" 150 lb. I have a large chest with small hips, waist and butt. I usually wear small or medium in most things or anywhere between size 2 and 6. Sometimes I need extra small depending on the style or brand. I don't like wearing anything too loose or baggy, because with the size of my chest it makes me look way bigger than I am. I'm pretty active, so my body fat isn't too high.

I am 5'1" at 143 pounds. Today I was able to get my size 10 jeans on and zipper them up with ease. Top size was 2XL now I wear a XL.

Still working on getting to my goal weight around 130 pounds.
I am apple shaped, so I have thinner legs and a larger midriff.
But Woo Hoo I am getting there!

I'm female, 61, 5'4" tall and currently at 191 pounds (down from 250). At this moment size 18 is tight but size 20 is baggy. Size 3x falls off but 2x fit is variable. My men's 42 waist 30 length Levis that I was super happy to fit back into a couple months ago no longer stay up. I ordered Old Navy pajama pants this week in XXL (XXXL fit at 250) and I'm having to exchange them for the next size smaller.

I need to go through my boxed clothes and see if I have clothes that fit again. I'm torn between boxing up the largest stuff or putting it up on Freecycle. I really don't want to yoyo again.

I am CIS Female 5'2, 287 lb. I wear size 28 in pants and pushing it. 3x in tops so long as they don't run small, usually 3x Men's t-shirts, ladies cut tees generally ride up or are too form fitting. 8.5-9 Wide shoes (not that shoes really matter).

Gotta say @LAEIRYN is kind of my hero simply based on their post here.

My goal is to fit into a size 18 non-plus size so I can just fit into clothes at most "normal" stores. Tired of wearing plus size clothes that are obviously not made by plus size people. Tired of society telling me without words that I am too big to wear clothes. Tired of spending a fortune on clothes simply because decent looking plus size clothes cost an arm and a leg!

I weigh 174 at 5' 11". Size 14.....sometimes still a size 16.

This is the first day I've known I'm finally in the "normal" Body Mass Index category.
Finally! After 25 years!....Hoping to lose 34 more pounds.

Over 3 years I have lost 50+ pounds. I cut back on carbs, and even though I'm not diabetic I basically follow a diabetic diet. I started walking and doing yoga and went from 172 pounds to between 112 pounds to 115 pounds. I'm 5' so this is a good weight for me! I'm a medium in shirts and a size 2-4 in jeans. 🤗 I have lupus, fibromyalgia and chronic migraines. It's been more difficult to exercise lately due to joint and muscle pain and the cold weather isn't helping. But I'm maintaining my weight!

My woo hook moment came when I could walk 2 miles without stopping! And when I fit into Jean's for the first time in 8 years!

I feel so much healthier and happier even though I hurt all the time! Losing the weight, eating better, and exercising helps me cope with my chronic illnesses in a way I never thought possible! emoticon emoticon

I am currently 158.8. I am 5’4” tall, and I am 65 years old. Actually, just a couple of months shy of my 66 birthday. Comfortably in a size 12 pants and medium/large top (depending on make). I was pre-diabetic at the start of my journey. Had high blood pressure and cholesterol. Thanks to my lifestyle changes, I no longer have to take medications for any of these conditions.

I follow a LCHQ (low carb, high quality), moderation and portion control, low sodium and sugar nutritional lifestyle. I am down 85 pounds since 2016 and I am currently about 7-9 pounds from my doctor approved goal weight.

I wanted to reach it by the end of 2019 but, based on my progress to date, I don’t think that will happen and I will be okay. I will celebrate whatever I manage to lose by 12/31/19 and go into the new year with a goal of reaching maintenance as soon as possible.

I truly believe this is the last journey I will have dealing with weight issues. This time I did not diet. Instead I created a way I live that I can use not only to lose but to live.

SparkPeople tools and the supportive and encouraging helped me achieve this goal.

Being positive is a choice. My Mantra: “Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day." Each morning seek the positive and you will have a good day. Always remember, “Your only competition is YOU.”

LINDYPOWER & DIABETIC88, good luck on your journey to better health and lower weight.

What lifestyle changes have you made to reach your goals?

I am diabetic too and the biggest change I made 13 days ago was to stop eating sugar. Because I had been on a low carb lifestyle over 10 years ago I knew that I lost weight eating low carbs, high fat, and low protein.

So that's what I started with and come to find out that it is sort of the Ketogenic lifestyle. Anyway, my blood sugar dropped drastically in only 12 days. It went from the 250/300's range down to 100. I was in shock, I thought that it would take months to get there. My goal was and still is to get to 80/90's. I stopped taking my medication about a year ago. It was causing some side effects that I couldn't deal with.

I know the Keto lifestyle is not for everyone but it has been easy for me so far and I just want to share what it has done for me. The giving up sugar was only hard for about 3 days.

(((Hugs))) Bobbie

181... 5'4". Size 12 on bottoms, but some are quite tight. L to XL for tops (not because of the boobs... :-( but because of the spare tire or two around the middle.) My goal is to lose 26 pounds by August 2020. Need to get myself back in the right frame of mind!!!!

I weigh 140-45 and am 5'6. I take a M top, 6 or 8 bottoms and size 8 dress usually. It really depends on the clothing but those are the most common. For me, bathing suits are super challenging to buy because I am a M bottom and XL top.

I’m usually about 115lbs but gained a lot of weight really fast recently and weirdly enough haven’t gone up any sizes. I was a size 2 when I was 108 freshman year and was still a size 2 when I got up to 130 not too long ago senior year. Everyone says I look the same 🤷‍♀️

If we're talking about shoes or socks though well... 🤣🤣 I can wear sizes anywhere from 4-6 in a half depending how small or big they're made. So yea I can wear kids shoes 🤣. Socks are difficult since kids socks are always ankle socks that don't cover my ankle and long socks the ankle goes way over my ankle and because they're too big they slide off

On another note I always tend to want to buy baggy shirts/clothes to 'hide'. Even when some people say oh you can definitely fit into that you're small enough I'm like.... yea there's no way in hell.... and most of the time they're right but still hard to think. I see a small or extra small I automatically think I'm not skinny therefore that's not for me , or I don't think I am anyway

I'm 130 , a size 8 in like pants leggings or other pants medium. Shirts are different I can wear small or medium in those. But because I'm short some pants are too long lol (5'2 🤣) , I'm pretty happy with my weight considering I was at 175 this time last year now I'm back to the weight I was in high school which wasn't that long ago . (Well 7 years but could be longer) I do wish I could have the toned perfect stomach and long legs or my stomach was just idk flatter, not very body positive but I also have BDD...

Size: anywhere from a 16 to a 2X, depending on the brand. US sizing is a friggin' joke! I have a long torso and broad shoulders, plus I wear a size 12 shoe (43 European, about a 10.5 in men's).

So shopping is just... frustrating. I'm typically in between what's considered "normal" and "plus size" - the "normal" stuff isn't quite big enough, typically across the shoulders or across the belly, but the "plus size" stuff assumes I have *ahem* "large tracts of land" to fill out the fronts of shirts, which this cup size B lady most certainly does NOT have. It's not uncommon blouses and shirts that look pleasantly modest on the models to be so low-cut on me it's frankly hilarous.

Shoes are just hilarious - I tend to stick with men size Toms because they fit reliably, and I own exactly two pairs of heels (black velvet wedges and black leather pumps). All of my workout shoes are mens, because apparently women with big feet don't work out? Or have really flat feet? Women's workout shoes inevitably can't handle my high arch.

Also, I find it hilarious I'm the same height as LACKOFWATER and nearly twice the weight - all shapes and sizes, indeed!

I'm a 5'7" elderly woman and currently weigh 205 pounds. I wear a size 14W to 16W and fit nicely into the XL and 1X fashions. I'm actually between a large-size and extra-large size at present. To update my wardrobe, I purchased a number of size large sweaters and they look really nice on me.

All things are possible.

I'm 5'5" and 150 today (a 10-lb loss from starting, woot woot). I was shocked to find that a pair of jeanshorts I bought at the beginning of this journey (that fit me comfortably) were size 14W. I've NEVER worn a 14W. My usual is size 8, and in dress sizes that are fit and flare I was a size 2 about 18 mos ago (I was really into a fitness kick at that time). I'm definitely more slender from the waist up than from the waist down. I can now pull the 14Ws up w/o unzipping/unbuttoning and soon I'll likely need to donate them.

Re: sizing: I read something recently on Huff Post that size 0 would have been a size 5 in the 1970s and the clothing manufacturers have had to keep up with the ever expanding American human's body by increasing the measurements for sizes. The average American man now weighs 194 pounds and woman, 165 pounds. In 2002, the average American woman weighed 153 pounds and in 1994, 147 pounds. I tried on a vintage '50s dress once for a Halloween party and found out that my size 4 (at that time) was actually a 12 in the days of the Fonz.

I think the food industry and the pharma industry are in league to keep us all super sized and on meds. I take no meds at age 58 and except for a sluggish digestion am very healthy, but would still like to lose another 25 lbs (125 is a normal weight for my height).

I've been doing keto/IF for the last three weeks and feel really good on it: lots of energy, no hunger or sugar cravings. I'm also dairy free because my son has some dairy issues. I plan to do strict keto/IF (with my son, age 19) for at least 90 days to see if it makes a difference for him for some minor health issues.

Wherever you are on this journey, this is your life! Make the best of it!!!

I can not only give this for right now, but basically every step along the way of the last 70 pounds/7 sizes.

I'm 5'3, intersex (this means genetically male AND female/in between) but most people would mistake me for female based on the outside of me and doctors use feminine charts for my weight recommendations.

I have a very notable 'buddha belly' so my high hip is the largest part of me, meaning that I usually wear a skirt two sizes smaller than pants and tops 1-2 sizes smaller. I've aggregated sizes together - if at X weight I wore one pair of 24s, one pair of 20s, and five pairs of 22s, then that's a 22 weight.

250 lbs, size 24
235 size 22-20, depending on brand
220 size 20
200 size 18 PLUS SIZES ONLY
190 size 18 STRAIGHT SIZES, 16 plus size
180 size 16 straight sizes, 14 in plus
170 no more plus sized anything fits, wearing a medium/large top and medium panty, size 14 straight size jeans, small/medium dresses IF my boobs fit into them
160 (current): size 12 but the Ralph Lauren ones are rather tight.

I've also gone down in bra size, from a 36DDD to a 34DD. The only thing I haven't had to get new to wear has been shoes.

This was over a period of about nine months or so, and my current goal is 150 before the end of July. After that it'll be 135, then 125 hopefully by Halloween. I'm expecting some difficult plateaus between here and there. If I can actually make it to 125 I'll stop there and consider my health and whether or not I should keep going. Doctors have often told me I should weigh barely 100 pounds.

I'm disabled so I can't do any conventional exercises; cardio would make my heart explode and DOES make my lungs shut down. So I either swim or walk nice and slow with my walker. I imagine most people have no idea and think it's easy, but using a wheelchair is a great workout for your arms, so trust me, when I'm wheeling myself around is probably the MOST intense exercise I get!

I've been on Wellbutrin/Zyban (bupropion) 300mg for ~2 months, and 150mg for the 8 months before that. When necessary, I augment with nicotine patches or caffeine pills to minimize appetite. I tried an 800kCal/day diet for a while WITH A DOCTOR'S APPROVAL AND SUPERVISION because I had over 100 pounds total to lose, but then my gallbladder got quite cross with me, so I had to scale it up, and now I'm about 1200/day, up to 1500/day during "hormone spike" PMS week. My basal metabolic rate is almost exactly 2000kCal so even without forcing dangerous exercise the diet is enough to cause consistent and countable weight loss.

In general speedy and intense dieting can burn about 2 pounds/week but that's not tenable over time so my general goal is 1.5/week.

One of the biggest things I noticed about clothing is that plus sizes have a lot more space BETWEEN sizes. I could gain or lose 15 pounds and still wear the same 22s just fine; now the pants I bought 15 pounds ago literally fall down my body. Straight sizes are much less forgiving; there's only an inch or so of difference between each size.

I’m 5’3 and weigh 135 lbs. I barely wear jeans, because activewear is usually my go to. I buy pants in a medium and shirts in a small (I’m pear shaped), but I wasn’t completely sure about my jean size so I just tried on a bunch of different pants that I have in my closet.

Side story: I actually weighed more in high school than I do now at 23 yrs old. I lost weight by simply changing my diet. I’ve been a pescatarian for 3 years now, but I’m starting to lean more towards making a transition to vegetarianism. So basically... no more seafood. Anyway, here’s my at home “fitting room” experience:

•Ripped knee skinny jeans-Old Navy: *size 12* (fit)
•Jordache jeggings-Walmart: *size 8* (a little loose)
•Legging Jean- Forever 21: *size 26* [women’s size 6] (required work to get over my hips but fit)
•Skin fit denim- Sam’s Club: *size 6* (fit)
•No Boundaries high waist skinny jeans [they have 4 buttons but no zipper]- Walmart: *size 9* [juniors equivalent to women’s size 8] (fit)

Conclusion: activewear and leggings are far less confusing to size lol

This could also go to show you that sizes have, unfortunately, become more forgiving over the years. I remember in the 90s weighing in at 180-190 lbs (at 5'6") and struggling to find size 16s that fit me. On occasion, I could find some 12s and 14s that worked, and it's interesting to read more recent experiences.
