this time of year perhaps you can encourage yourself to get outside in the evening light.. walk a block or so...and then maybe once more.... Working your way up to a mile or so can really help get your umph and resolve back--and its only like 20-30 min! Do you have a neighbor to share some time with, or q library close by to walk to?/

just some ideas! Enjoy finding what it takes to gt back on track---You've done great so far this year!!

Hi! Thanks for asking! It's going much better emotional and attitude-wise, as I've booked my next cruise! Weight wise - I've maintained the 3 lbs gain I had, but working on getting rid of that plus some! Have a weight-loss challenge going with the friend going on cruise with me - there's a maximum combined weight limit for the parasailing we want to do in San Juan! She has about 20 lbs more to lose than I do, but we can do it!

I seem to gain a pound a day when we are on vacation. I know it's b/c of bad vacation choices...a mudslide here, nachos there. It motivates me to get back on track when we get home.

I agree with ARCHIMEDESII. Just about everything in life is not in a straight line. Weight loss is one of those things. It may go "consistently" down, but what is then "consistently"?

Ever hour? Well no. Everyone will agree that's crazy. Every day? One might hope for that, but this too is pushing reasonable expectations. Every week? Maybe, just maybe.

But if one goes up a little one week, is that a big deal? Well not if one goes down most other weeks. I'm just adding my support to consistently loosing weight, not loosing every time one gets on the scale. Its not all or nothing, life is not about all or nothing.

SWEETGRAMMAC,

I give all members one piece of advice and it's this,"don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". if the only healthy thing you did for the day was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.

Remember, you're trying to change habits learned over a life time. that's not going to happen overnight, a week, a month or even a year.

So, if you are making an effort to live a healthier lifestyle during the day, don't beat yourself up for being exhausted by the end of the day. You are not a machine who can eat right 24/7. You're a perfectly normal human being, with normal human needs.

What to do ? Start by setting some simple goals. If you're not eating 6-9 servings of fruit/veggies, set a goal to eat 2-3 servings each day for one week. If you're not drinking 8 glasses of water, set a goal to drink 2-4 glasses each day for one week. if you're not exercising, don't start with an hour a day, set a goal to take a 30 minute walk each day for one week.

Once you've achieved these goals, you set new one or do them again. Setting simple goals is how you SLOWLY ease back into a healthier set of habits.

Like I said, if you're eating right during the day, that IS a step in the right direction.

Stop beating yourself up because you're not perfect.

Rome wasn't built in a day and neither were you.

I too think a 3 pound gain on vacation, after loosing 15 before the vacation is really very little. You did very well on vacation. Heck, I can put on a pound or two just drinking extra water.

As long as you're not snacking in the evening, while doing the other things... you are doing great. I agree on some mini-goals.

Congratulations on losing those 15 pounds! The anticipation and excitement of the cruise probably helped you keep your momentum. A 3 pound gain actually isn't too bad, especially after a cruise where the food options abound.

Is there a goal event that you can use as a goal to help get the 3 pounds off? A 4th of July gathering if your in the USA? A family reunion?

Have you been tracking your food since you got back? If not, get back at it! :-) Maybe set the small 3 pound goal for whatever goal date you set and see what happens?

I started SP early Dec '18 and was able to lose 15 lbs before my 1st cruise vacation in March. Came back from cruise +3 lbs, and haven't loss any of it. I had a little post-vaca depression and that's resolved (I've booked another cruise for Jan '20 - ha!), but I can't seem to find the "spark" I had back in Dec. During the day, at work, I feel motivated and feel I can do this! But by the end of the day and I get home, I've lost all ambition and pep; and just want to sit in my recliner and do cross stitch, tablet games, and watch TV. Suggestions on how to keep that day time motivation going into the eve? Retirement not yet an option - dang it!
