I am off the blood pressure med now. It suddenly kept dropping below 100 and I felt like I was going to pass out so Doc told me to stop it. Only took it for 2 months. Doctor said it was all due to stress and a lot of people have this happen. So far since stopping it I finally lost a few lbs.

Have you asked if you can take a different med for bp that won't cause weight gain? If you have no choice it still may be possible to lose weight slowly. You would need t be extra careful about weighing food and portions. My mom had this problem but managed to lose 28lbs extra weight. It took her two years which seems long, but look at it this way, at the end of two years she could have weight MORE. You could also try seeing a dietician for advice. Best wishes to you.

I suggest that you ask your Dr for a referral to a Registered Dietitian. He/she will be able to help you based on YOUR specific health issues/needs, etc.
I also suggest that if you aren't already, start weighing all of your food for increased accuracy, and enter it into the Nutrition Tracker. Then when you go to your appointment, take the printouts from the Tracker so that the Dietitian can look through and give you advice based on accuracy rather than probable faulty memory. I know with me it took her less than 5 minutes to spot the problem. It wasn't WHAT I ate, or even that I was eating too much for the average person my weight to lose weight, but it was too much for me. After her input, and a very slight tweak, I started to lose weight.
I still have the 3 lbs. Found out my new blood pressure medicine causes weight gain! Oh what joy. I give up. I gained 80 lbs because of the Prozac all those years. Went off of it and had lost 20 lbs 1 year ago and was dropping weight again because of exercising but I can't stop taking the blood pressure medicine. Why can't they make medicine that causes weight loss????? I've spent at least 40 years of my life on a diet and I'm sick of it. Plus I'm home most of the time so who cares? I'll keep with eating no junk food and exercising but I'm not expecting to drop any weight. It just won't happen. I would have to be able to exercise like a normal person and I just can't. I give up...….I surrender...……...No more scales too
I am sure things will work out. Look at it this way (my way anyway) when I've been bad (had a couple of weeks worth lately) and I don't gain any weight I think I've got away with it and am thrilled, but we do fluctuate. I only weigh myself once a week, but it seems others do it every day. I think I do it weekly because of this very reason, if I feel I've been good and gain, I'll likely think 'What's the point' and go into a decline. What's the advice here, the 10 day average thing sounds quite interesting. .I'd be interested to know
The sandwich kinda sounds healthy! I'd say its water or that "time." No worries. A woman's weight fluctuates several pounds naturally I think. Do not starve yourself and if you are exercising a lot, you need to fuel your body. :) I understand your frustration though -- when you are working hard, you want to see results on the scale.
I promise you that you did NOT gain 3 pounds from a sandwich.
There will always be fluctuations on the scale. I recommend the excellent advice from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Don't panic.
The most likely reason that you gained 3 pounds is that you were slightly dehydrated at the previous weigh-in. And several people suggested ways that your current weigh-in would be slightly elevated.
For several weeks, I noticed that my Friday weight was 2 pounds heavier than my Thursday weight. What the heck! Well, Thursday is pizza night, which is more salt than I am used to eating. My calorie count was fine. By Saturday, the water had worked its way out, and I was back to normal.
One suggestion. I track my weight on a google spreadsheet (yeah, I'm a geek. Wanna make something of it?) I average the previous 10 weights, which evens out the daily blips, so I don't panic over large gains on a particular day. A lot of people recommend only weighing once a week, but I think this is a much better solution.

Sodium in food can play quite a number on the scales, and some people are tricked into believing that this is a real weight gain. Extra sodium can add quite a bit of weight (fluid retention) to a person, overnight.
Another reason can also easily be that perhaps you hadn't had a bowel movement or as much as usual, and that can weigh quite a bit.
I track my sodium and altho' I nearly always eat toward the lower-mid sodium range, I always know if I have eaten a bit more than usual because a) my clothes feel a bit firmer compared to the day before, and, b) my CPAP mask digs into my face and leaves marks all day. Sometimes it wakes me and I have to loosen the straps a little.
When that happens I have a look at the previous day's sodium level, it has always been up a bit on the usual level.Even 40g of Bacon can do that to me.
It is water weight. You didn't gain 3 pounds overnight from a sandwich. Please take a deep breath and think about this. No need to start over. There was absolutely nothing wrong with eating the sandwich.

Unless that sandwich was 10,500 calories, you did not gain three pounds of fat eating one vegan inspired sandwich. If you read the ingredients, how much sodium was in that patty ? A lot of processed foods (even vegan ones) can contain a lot of salt.
If so, then what you're experiencing is nothing more than water retention. Not to get TMI, did you weigh yourself after a bowel movement this morning ? My weight can vary as much as 3-4 pounds in a day just because of a shift in my water weight or lack of a decent morning poop.
Try it some time. Weigh yourself before and after a good poop. Did you lose weight ? YES ! Did you lose fat ? Nope. And the same is true if you weighed yourself before and after drinking 16 oz of water. did you gain weight ? Yes. did you gain fat ? nope.
That's how easy it is for a person to gain one pound of fat. just drink 16 oz of water and don't go pee.
Don't tie your emotions to the scale. there is more to good health than a number that stares back at us from between our toes in the morning.

Weight fluctuations are normal. Weight loss is not linear. Getting into a tizzy and blaming a sandwich is counter-productive.

Broadly speaking, one pound of weight is equal to 3,500 calories. I highly doubt that one sandwich contained 10,500 calories over what your body needs to function for one day.
The extra weight could be a bit of water retention if the sandwich had more sodium content than you usually get. Maybe you over ate as a whole yesterday. Maybe it's getting closer to that time of the month....The possibilities are endless.
Also, you don't have to start ALL OVER again. Make some smarter choices and track everything you eat. It will balance out.

Well, I found some vegan bacon and it really tastes like bacon. You fry it in oil. (I use olive oil) I had just one vegan BLT with peta bread and I gained 3 lbs! Weighed myself this morning and I gained 3lbs with that sandwich. Add on the early wake up time now because of the spring forward and I'm in such a bad lousy mood. I could have had a sundae for those 3 lbs. It was mostly lettuce and tomato to begin with. I just feel like why bother. Why not just be happy with being fat. The only way to drop weight is to starve myself and exercise by brains off. Guess I will just have the BLT without the bread. All I can say it was the best BLT I've ever had and I haven't had one in 8-9 years because I Stopped eating meat. Guess tomorrow starts another new diet day. Starting allllllllllllllllll over again.
