Are you eating beause you're hungry? Or just eating because you think you should? Something you ate could have caused the increased pound. I have a friend who cannot eat popcorn; in one day she can gain 3-4 pounds from it.
Keep logging and you'll find what triggers your body.

Hello, Sarah !

it's only been four days ! the weight doesn't magically drop off just because you've decided to eat a few more veggies and exercise.

The truth that no one wants to face is that even though it may have taken years to pack on the weight, they just want it gone immediately. Well, if weight loss were that simple, there wouldn't be an obesity epidemic in the US.

What you're experiencing really is perfectly normal. Ever notice your weight goes up during TOM ? Most women tend to "gain" weight during their menstrual cycle. Is that a fat gain ? Nope. it's nothing more than a temporary water weight gain that passes in a few days.

My weight can easily fluctuate 2-3 pounds in a DAY, just because of a shift in my water weight. And well, not to get TMI, did you have a bowel movement before you weighed yourself ? Food has weight. Water has weight. Your body's waste products have weight. So, if you don't do a poop in the morning, all that food, water and waste is still in your intestines.

try it some time. Weigh yourself before and after a decent bowel movement. Did you lose weight ? YES ! Did you lose fat ? Nope.

these types of weight fluctuations are perfectly normal. The fact is, even if you didn't eat an ounce of food, you could still gain a pound of weight on the scale if you drank lots of water and don't go pee.

If you're going to beat yourself up every time you get on the scale and it doesn't say something you like, you're going to end up pretty miserable.

Stop beating yourself up. don't expect the weight to magically drop off. If it took you years to pack on the weight, it is not coming off overnight.

Yes I agree with the others that for your current weight, such a calorie restriction might cause a rebellion - ! Your system is going whoa, wait.... FAMINE!!!! Don't know what you are doing at the gym but if you can build some muscle, it will burn calories while you are at rest.

You may feel like you're going in the wrong direction with the gain of a pound, but really - you're doing great with the healthy habits.

" I am doing something wrong obviously. I'm so disgusted"
Whoa... really?
Expecting immediate results is unrealistic. Getting disgusted about that is unrealistic.

Change you expectations.
And up your calories.
1200 is the minimum for a sedentary female, not one who is active and exercising.
Why not setup your data and goals, and let SparkPeople give you a calorie range!?!

Were you exercising before? When did you start exercising?

I'm willing to bet that you just started exercising. If so it is super easy to start putting on muscle at the start.

Don't be disgusted because of just one number! If you throw in the towel because of one number, what are the alternatives, and where does that go?

P.S. 1200 calories a day is too low in my opinion, even if you want to loose weight I think something like 1600 to 1800 is more it.

Hi Sarah,

Don't despair! It has only been a few days and it can take our bodies some time to adjust to a healthier lifestyle. As long as you are accurately tracking your food and fitness and staying within your recommended goals, the weight loss will come.

Weigh yourself weekly at the same time in the same clothes (or no clothes). Many things can affect your weight - sodium, menstrual cycle, muscles retaining water, etc. Don't assume you're doing anything wrong.

How many calories are you eating?

You don't have to eat the whole thing.
