I found your post under "Newbie" where you were struggling to navigate Spark People.

I'd be happy to send you some guidance, but only if you reply to this note. Because otherwise I'm writing into the void.

LYNN19502 has only made one post in all of "spark land", that is it just below.

Will she come back?

If she does, I suggest she go to the community option, then "Sparkteams" choice (which gets you back to the teams you've joined). That page also has a search text field, and you can search for teams based on keywords, like "exercise" or "swimming" or .... Find team, then join it.

It takes a little practice. Once you get the basics, it becomes easier. Give yourself a 3 weeks...no expectations, just practice.

Do not fret. We have all been there. It takes a bit of time on the site to figure it all out. There are many people that will be glad to help you navigate too! The teams are chock full of people ready to lend a hand.

Lynn,
I found it took me a few weeks to navigate my way to different teams, join them, find them again later, and see how each team was structured.

For me its all about the people that are here, not the technical features. Stick with it for the people you'll meet.

I'd be happy to tell you how to find teams to join ... just post back on this "topic" ... I'm here.

This site can certainly be overwhelming for non-tech-savvy people, when they first join. I was in this category, too, but you know what? It doesn't really take long to learn the shortcuts and to familiarize yourself with the nutrition tracker. Because I live in NZ and a lot of our foods are different, I have to enter most of it into the the manually entered section. I did this with a few items at a time when I had a spare moment. Once it is there it stays there unless you manually remove it. Now I can enter my entire day's worth of food (and there are lots of entries each day) in a matter of minutes.

Good luck with reaching your goals,
Kris

Hello, Lynn !

Welcome to Spark People !

Don't worry, I know the site can be a little overwhelming at first, but you'll get the hang of it.

I give all new members one piece of advice and it's this,"don't look at good health with an all or nothing mentality". If the only healthy thing you did for yourself today was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction. Remember you're trying to change habits learned over a life time. That's not going to happen overnight, a week, a month or even a year. change takes time, thus the need to be patient with yourself and your body.

In short, take a deep breathe, you'll be fine. Just take things slowly.

If you need help with the website, click on this link. It's a link to a list of frequently asked questions. You should find them helpful.

Very discouraged already. Just joined 15 minutes ago, and already have regrets.
I am not tech savvy and I can't even load my brekfast information. Find this site so far to be not user friendly to me. emoticon
