MUMWIV: No, she is not being too harsh. ArchiemedesII has a very long, deep history with EOWYN on these boards and has (in my opinion) gone above and beyond to help EOWYN in what were often enormously frustrating interactions (again, my opinion). Several other people here have done the same for Eowyn because does have serious health issues and the people on these boards really do want to help her.

I've had many days where I was disappointed as well. Keep trying. Making lifestyle changes are not easy, but they are possible. You and I are on the same journey, with the same ups and downs. Start giving yourself non-food rewards when you make wise choices. Acknowledging what we do right instead of reminding ourselves what we have done wrong is great encouragement.

I haven't had any for like 13 days! WAaaaaaahhhhh!

And you're a BETTER person because of it !

You will never get rid of your muffin top if you continue to eat fried chicken and jalapeno bombers. If you'd like a burger, make your own. Stop eating the crap from McDonalds or Burger King. a homemade burger tastes a hundred times better than the junk the fast food chains offer.

Continue to resist the urge to eat that junk and your shorts will start to fit again.

KEEP RESISTING!!!

* Focus on other things.

* Remember your Dialysis weights!!!!

* Remember how you feel when you aren't able to meet those goals after dialysis.

* Remember your Iron infusions. You can't afford to keep missing them because you make big-time stuff-ups!!!!

* Remember you LIFE is at stake!!!!!

Remember, too that YOU HAVE THE POWER!!!! Just apply it to your willpower.

EOWYN24241,

Why do some dialysis patients meet their weigh ins and you don't ? You've already answered your own question many times.

You don't meet your weigh ins because you aren't mindful of your fluid or food intake. You drink too much tea. You drink too much soup. You drink too much water when it's hot. You don't weigh your food. You don't track your food. You eat too many salty foods which causes to you be thirsty.

You eat whatever you want because you want to be able to "live a little". Well, your callous attitude towards your health is why you can't make your weigh ins or lose your muffin top. The new patients are probably paying closer attention to what they drink and what they eat. Something you haven't been doing.

What to make your weigh ins ? Time to take your health much more seriously.

Those questions you need to pose to your medical team. Is it possible that the Iron infusion be given on one of the other dialysis days seeing you have issues with Mondays?

Yes, the last dialysis of the week is on Friday morning. This means I have lunch and dinner on Friday, then breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and also possibly 3 meals on Sunday. But I try to keep it to only 2 meals on a Sunday.

But that doesn't explain why some of the newer dialysis patients only come with a gain of 3 kg or less! What am I doing wrong?!

One of my friends even fasts because he wants to keep his weight down. Should I have to do that too?!

Elaine - do you have a longer gap re dialysis from the last one to the Monday's one? Maybe if you do, that partly explains it.

You say you kept your fluid intake down ..... did you keep your sodium intake down, too? (do you track all your sodium?) Remember there are a lot of foods that have a higher sodium content, naturally, including sardines.

It has happened again! Why must this happen to me every Monday!?

I already tried my best to limit my fluids this past weekend. When I was having breakfast and lunch, I made sure to drink less but still my weight gain was 4kgs!!!!

I've gained more than that before, which is what would have happened if I let go! I really don't understand how some patients can only gain 2kg or less on a Monday?! Is it because I have no more urine (only a few drops).

The nurses refused to give me my iron infusion today! I'm down to my last 2! Why can't things go right for me on a Monday!?!!

I'm BEYOND PISSED!!!!! What if my iron levels don't go up because I keep missing my Monday doses?!

I've already tried to drink less this weekend! Why can't I achieve a water weight gain of 3kg or less?!

As it is, I owe the machine 300g, which means my weight after dialysis was 62.3. Now after lunch it is 62.7kg!!! A lunch where I didn't even dare finish my drink! Should I starve tmrw just to keep my weight down?

Looks like I can't even join my boss for bfast tmrw!!!! She doesn't even dare get me a drink when she buys lunch for me!!! And yet!!! 4kgs!!!!

Sometimes I really want to end my life!!!!

You know that soups are generally fairly high is salt. STOP consuming them!!!!

I ate bacon for dinner one night. . I had weighed myself that a.m. and I was the weight I normally am in the a.m. The following morning, after eating bacon, and it wasn't a lot of bacon, and I was still within a healthy sodium range, I weighed nearly 1kg MORE and it took a couple days to come right. THAT is one of the things that salt does to you.

Eowyn,

As I mentioned in my other thread, if you know you must limit the amount of fluids you drink each day, then set a daily goal. Each day you achieve your goal or limiting your fluid intake, you tick it off on the calendar.

You said, you were disappointed because something made you drink too much and you went over your dialysis limit. Okay, be honest, what was that reason ?

I'm so sorry...from what I know about dialysis, it pretty much does handicap one's life. I wish I had some great advice...but all I can do is let you know that I do care.

Keeping it simple.
Better choices.
Living today.

I just let go a little for one day, one day and my water weight ballooned up. I didn't get my iron infusion today because my bp was too low. My next blood test is in a few week's time. This won't do at all!

I have to be more strict with myself where drinks are concerned and that includes soups. I had too much soup yesterday!

I hate being on dialysis!!! I feel like a handicapped person!
