If you're a college student, you're probably on a fixed income.

Because it's New Year's Resolution time, tons of gyms are running sales to bring in new members. Check out your local gyms to see who has the best offer. Right now, Planet Fitness is running a one dollar down and ten dollars a month deal. You can't beat $10 bucks a month for a gym membership.

Also, check out GROUPON. You can find lots of gyms (think yoga studios, martial arts gyms, rock climbing) offer GROUPON deals. Take advantage of a deal. That's how I found my martial arts gym. I started with their groupon deal.

You should also go to your local library. Your local library is not only a great resource for books, they have DVDs too. why not borrow some workout DVDs to do at home ? that's if you can't afford a gym membership. Borrow DVDs from the library. You can also go on youtube. there are TONS of free workout videos on youtube that can be done at home.

As far as being outside, no one says you have to run to be fit. You could walk if the weather isn't horrible. I walk everywhere. it's one way I stay active. why not take a daily walk ?

If motivation is the problem, choose something you truly enjoy and allow yourself a half hour to do it. Perhaps the half hour will pass and you will suddenly realize you have enjoyed your choice for over an hour or more. This might be exactly what was needed to get you out of a slump. Then when you are ready, challenge yourself to do something for 10 minutes that might cause you to feel self-conscious. Perhaps you might find that it wasn’t that bad and you continue that activity for a bit longer. To make any lifestyle change, it takes intentional effort at first.

Yes, I'm in college, but I am an online student, and live 40 minutes away from my college. So I don't really use their services, since the gas mileage is not worth it.

Are you in college (user name hint)? Every college has a gym.

Oh, sorry. I meant that I am trying to eat healthier AND be more physically active. I'm having trouble working out in public places, but I don't have any personal workout equipment. But thank you for your help :)

Motivation come from within... you have to WANT to eat healthier, not try to.
Not sure what being self-conscious has to do with eating healthier, though! Can you explain?
