WOW, you have certainly had a bit of a lousy start to the year. Hopefully things will only improve.

Sometimes all we can do re the stressful things happening around us is to take a deep breath and make a conscious effort to slow down where we can.

Take a deep breath... and remember the old saying "and it came to pass..." (The Bible never says: "and it came to stay..."!)

Make a very short list: three things that make you feel nurtured. Do them EVERY DAY--just for yourself. It helps to keep the negatives in perspective, and give you something positive. My list when I was depressed was: crochet for 10 minutes, enjoy sugar free hot chocolate, sing a song.

Hope your mom is doing better by now, and the snow situation gets better. Take care of yourself--eat right so you feel well--and post when you need to!!

Welcome back, Linda !

It's been a bitter cold past couple of weeks for many of us. If you can't work from home and need to drive to work in bad weather, then you need to slow down. Give yourself more time, leave extra early and don't rush or you will end up in an accident.

No matter how bad things could be, you need to be grateful for what IS working right in your life. Try not to dwell on the negative. Something is going right in your life, focus on that.

As I have said many times in the past,"don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". If the only healthy thing you did for yourself today was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.

Focus on the positives, not the negatives. You don't have to do a lot to make a change. One thing I find helpful is taking long deep breathes. I know that may sound silly, but it's not. I learned some great breathing techniques in a yoga class years ago.

Deep breathing can help calm your nerves.

Not a great start to the new year or a great end to the old one. December 2017 we lost my husbands father, 2 weeks before Christmas. So far for 2018, I tripped and fell on my ceramic floor in my entry way a week ago, hurt my hand and knee which are still bothering me. I got stuck in my driveway in a snowstorm this week, My mother ended up in hospital in the middle of the snowstorm ( hospital is an hour away ) she was having breathing trouble, found out she has a-fib and a leaky valve in heart. Our roads are horrible making it very difficult to go visit. I was there yesterday and it took an extra hour to get there with white nuckle driving. Another storm coming tomorrow.. broke the glass on my iPad this morning ( dropped it ) feeling extremely stressed. Trying to eat better and move a bit more but having a hard time with getting in track. I have not been on here in a while, have not been on computer much except for work. Just feeling really overwhelmed I guess with everything. Just wishing things would slow down and not be so stressful.
