The method of postponement is about the only thing that has worked for me when quitting smoking. Same with food, really. You're not saying to yourself "I can't/mustn't/shouldn't", you're just diffusing the current emotionally charged situation. It's really easy to make the choice to wait 10 minutes. And when 10 minutes are over, you can make another choice to wait 10 minutes and do something else in that time (have a cup of tea with honey - sugar, yes, but also incrediby healthy).
If you really can't take it anymore, you can decide to have half now and half in 10 minutes/half an hour...

1/2 cup frozen berries + 2 TB (no sugar added) almond butter. Microwave 1 minute. Works for my sugar cravings every time. Sorry - more than 10 words.

I imagine the sugar rotting my teeth, which I find helpful. Or, I imagine how painful my next dental appointment will be if I consume a lot of sugar.
