Read 'The Beck Diet Solution' by Judith Beck. It offers you tools and 'ammunition' to shoot those cravings down! There's also a good sparkteam for the Beck books here at SP.

Hi, Annie !

What are you eating for breakfast ? are you just having the protein shake ? Depending on how vigorous your workout is, that protein shake may not be enough calories to provide your body with the energy it needs to get through the workout as well as your normal daily routine.

What are you eating for the rest of the day ? Are you eating enough servings of fresh fruit and veggies ? are the foods you eat high in fiber ? Eating foods that are high in fiber can help reduce cravings.

Also, were you drinking enough water ? some times hunger isn't because you didn't eat enough, some times hunger can be a result of dehydration. If you don't drink enough water, you may feel hungry when you're really thirsty. So, if you sweat a lot during your workout and don't drink any water, that might explain the post workout binge too.

As well as agreeing with Coach Jen's suggestions, are you actually eating enough? Some people don't actually recognize hunger (or thirst) and it is possible that this could be (at least partly) the cause. Some people tend to stick to the very bottom of the range regardless of whether they exercise or not, There are times when we need to eat a little higher.

Hi Annie

Sorry for the delayed response. Congrats on your progress so far!

If you know you're not truly hungry after lunch, maybe it would help to plan an activity to start right after (whether it's to go for a walk, work on a project for your job, journal about how you're feeling, etc.) to keep your mind off of food. Also make sure your lunch has some protein and/or healthy fat as well as fiber in it, since all of those contribute to feelings of fullness and satiety.

I don't think it's time to panic yet, your body might just need to adjust to the changes you've made.

Hope that helps,

Coach Jen

The last 2 days I've been going to the gym (like I do every morning).. i drink my protein shake before the gym.. I get home.. do some things and then I eat around 1pm. The last two days I've been wanting something more after lunch. Like not hungry for it.. just craving it! I'm worried that I will let this get out of control and mess myself up. I've lost almost 8 pounds since september with about 45 to go! I can't mess this up right now!! any suggestions?
