It also depends on whether you are male or female. For a woman you would be o.k. I would imagine, re calories, but if you are a man, you would not be eating enough.

A visit with a REGISTERED Dietitian would certainly be a good idea!

PIPER_BLUE76,

We need some more information in order to be helpful. How much do you currently weight ? How much are you trying to lose ? How tall are you ? When it comes to gaining or losing weight, what matters most is what we eat. Good nutrition and portion control take the weight off and keep it off. Exercise is what keeps our bodies healthy.

The needs of someone trying to lose 10 pounds are different than someone trying to lose 50 or 100. The closer a person is to a healthy weight for their height, the longer it takes to lose those last few pounds. Ask any member 5-10 pounds from goal and they'll tell you it's slow going.

How many calories does your fitbit say you burn when you workout ?

Here's the thing, you're eating 1500 calories per day. I'm assuming you want to lose 1-2 pounds per week. If you're eating 1500 per day, then the amount of calories you need to eat to maintain your current weight would be 2,000. When you input your information into the nutrition tracker, the software deducts 500 calories from your daily intake. one pound of fat = 3,500 calories. So, if you were decrease the amount of calories you ate each day by 500, in theory, in seven days, you would have lost one pound of fat.

7 days multiplied by 500 calories = 3,500 or one pound of fat.

This is theory. What works neatly on paper, doesn't work so neatly with human biochemistry. even if you ate perfectly for the entire week, there is no guarantee that you'd lose one pound. While a safe weekly weight loss would be 1-2 pounds per week, there will be weeks you don't lose. there will even be weeks you gain ! and that doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong.

The weight doesn't magically drop off the minute we decide we need to lose OR if we start exercising more. Losing weight is a fine balance between eating a little less, watching your portion sizes and getting some regular exercise.

So, you want to know how much you should eat when you're exercising.

Questions :

How tall are you ?
How old are you ?
How much do you currently weigh ?
How much are you trying to lose ?
How many calories do you burn during your workouts ?

How many calories you eat is really going to vary for a lot of reasons. In theory, and I'm not a dietitian so take what I say with a grain of salt because there is a lot I do not know about you, if I were taking a GUESS and this is strictly a guess, you might consider a daily calorie range of 1500-1800 per day.

That's just a guess because there isn't enough information to answer your question. Even the "experts" can't tell you what you need to eat because there is too much we just don't know.

I presume you are trying to loose weight.

1500 calories seems like a pretty good target for that. Not too low, not too high. Do you have a digital scale, weigh your portions, calculate?

How do you know that it is 1500 calories you are consuming?

James

Need more information about what you're doing. Do you count all your calories? Do you follow the SparkPeople recommendations for calorie intake? Are you weighing and measuring accurately? Etc...
