A lot would depend on the reason for the anxiety and if you have a history of it. There is no law which says that you MUST attend that class, so if it is causing you issues, I would skip it - you have just run a mile so that is exercise in itself.
If the anxiety issue is a fairly regular nonoccurence, then I would speak with your Doctor and ask for a referral to a Therapist who can teach you healthy ways to deal with it appropriately.
Don't force yourself to try something you don't think you can handle...that can easily lead to an injury that could keep your from working out for quite a while. You can always go to that class on another day.
