You have lost a half a pound per week. Congratulations! Nicely done. Just keep going. Next year you will be 50 pounds lighter. And the year after, 75.

The days and months and years fly by so quickly. I had lost about 150 pounds and kept them off for about 11 years. But then I had back trouble, had to have surgery, had to quit gym, got sloppy about eating.

Now I have 24 pounds to lose, and I have given myself a year to do it. I want to eat within my assigned calorie range, enjoy my food, and avoid obsessing about dieting.

Let's make a deal. Let's check in with each other next year and announce our 24 pound loss.

One day at a time, with commitment to your goal, and you will get there. As someone here said, you could have gained 25 pounds this year, but you didn't. You lost! You won!

I just made an account a couple hours ago and selected lose weight instead of maintain weight. Previously I thought it was a good idea but now entirely regret it. I just want to maintain a set weight. Please help! I joined to benefit from all the resources available, what I can track daily and motivate to do daily. Currently I would say I do nothing :)

I can imagine how a person feels when they get to a point in which they need support. I am a person who often needs support but I am too shy or ashamed to ask. I think that the next time I need support I will reach out. emoticon

do ask your doctor about a low carb diet. if he or she is on board and experienced with that, it may well be worth a try.

I also checked your trackers and your calories are awfully low. I think that you may be doing more harm than good in that. Try to stay in the sp ranges set for you. I usually don't go under 1200.

In your pre-diabetic state, I would think a nutritionist or dietician would help, as it seems that you aren't eating enough protein.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will talk to my Dr to see where my thyroid level is, I do take meds for hypothyroidism.

I will increase my vegetable intake with the vegetables I do like. I do like some vegetables but not many, my mother says I am a picky eater when it comes to vegetables. Don't get me wrong, I love salads but I can't have them first thing in the morning because I had my gall bladder out and salads will run right through me in the am. I do eat salads in the afternoon though.

I track more with the weight watchers app than with the sp app, and i need to change that. I think that will make me doubly accountable with what I eat.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I will take all of your advice.I will try to track daily.

_FIT_FOR_LIFE_,

If you've lost 25 pounds since last year, that IS progress.

I took a sneak peak at your food diary. If I were to go back in time and give myself one piece of advice that would help me lose weight and be more healthy, it would be to eat 6-9 servings of fresh fruit and veggies each and every day. Do you know that most Americans barely get 2 servings a day ? and one of those servings is almost always some French fries.

When I decided I needed to lose weight, I knew I wasn't eating enough fruit and veggies. With your diabetes, I know you have to be careful with the fruit you eat, but what about trying to increase the amount of veggies instead ? What do you eat for veggies now ? One thing I like to do in the summer is eat a HUGE leafy green salad for breakfast. Why not try eating a salad for breakfast ? This way you ensure that you get at least 2-3 servings of veggies in the morning. Then you add a veggie with lunch or dinner.

What sort of veggies are you eating now ? Perhaps if you tried increasing the amount you ate, that would help you get under 300 pounds. I know it helped me lose weight.

Hi - the good news is that you HAVE lost SOME weight, and that isn't to be sneezed at!!! Congratulations.

Now, you mention going to Weight Watchers. I had a little peek at your Nutrition Tracker, and forgetting the days where there is only a breakfast entered, I note that the days that you HAVE entered, what I assume to be all your food for that day, You are often under 1,000 calories, and your protein is very low.

I strongly suggest that (in part) because of your Diabetes, you make an appointment with you Dr and ask for a referral to a Registered Dietitian who will be able to help you create a plan as it pertains to you and your health. Weight Watchers isn't qualified to give this help. Your Dr will also be able to check to see if there is anything else going on which can contribute to the excess weight, i.e. hypothyroidism.

Good luck,
Kris

I just want to encourage you to stay with it. You have lost weight and that is a start. Why stop now?

This is something you want, then go after it. A year will come and go no matter what you do, the pounds you lost are still a win. If you didn't do SP this past year, you may have gained.

It is a slow process for all of us. Don't be discouraged, celebrate what you have lost and refocus for the next 30 days. Look at your nutrition, are there things you can do to improve? For exercise, how about arm workouts with light weights?

Don't give up, this feeling is just temporary - you've come this far (year) how about focusing on 30 days? Make a few changes and see where you are at the end of July. If anything your health depends on it.

Stay focused!!

I have almost been doing spark people almost a year now, in August of this year it will be a year and I have been doing weight watchers program for a year. I thought by now I would definitely be under 300 pounds. I want and need to lose this weight to bring down my cholesterol levels, my A1C ( I am pre diabetic) and I have arthritis in my knees. I started this journey at about 340 pounds and now I am 315. My weight fluctuates back and forth, sometimes I feel like giving up but I am not a quitter.
