On this last day of January, I'm grateful for:

-Temps are supposed to warm today (haven't been able to get out to see yet)
-Excellent news from the specialist on my MRI, best I could have hoped for
-Coming in to work this morning and cranking to high gear to get a lot off my plate, enough that I now feel some relief during my busiest time of year
-Free lunch at our department meeting and I was able to keep it pretty healthy
-My sister

On this last day of January my many appreciations include:
-Savoring the joys and insights of loved ones
-Silly thrill of regaining lost point in brain training games
-Choosing to be kind and generous in response to email from M
-Plentiful rejuvenating sleep with dreams of splendid sunset I saw on evening walk
-Seeing options for improvement in this email respected friend sent:

“Gratitude Can Transform Your Life
Remember, if you are criticizing, you are not being grateful. If you are blaming, you are not being grateful. If you are complaining, you are not being grateful. If you are feeling tension, you are not being grateful. If you are rushing, you are not being grateful. If you are in a bad mood, you are not being grateful.

Gratitude can transform your life. Are you allowing minor things to get in the way of your transformation and the life you deserve?

from The Secret Daily Teachings”

I look forward to having my friends/kindred spirits continue on with this tradition in February and will have that thread posted in time to make it a Fabulous February ...be it us three or finding joy of others joining us! emoticon

-Overall, good initial news from the MRI, but more to be revealed as my doc wants a specialist to see it (as I sigh with impatience)

-The beautiful starry sky last night as I was doing trash rounds; I stopped and took a minute to "smell the roses" emoticon
-Good friends
-Dinner plans with a friend Friday night; a treat after a rough few weeks

Today I'm grateful for all of this, yet so much more:

-Electricity!! I went without for four cold days, though it could have been much colder
-Neighbors; my cul-de-sac neighbors have restored my faith in humanity after this!
-Being mobile (meaning I could get my car: (a) out of my garage; and (b) through the snow) every day except Saturday
-Helping others with my mobility
-LaQuinta, they are pet friendly. Drove a friend and her kitty (without a car) and they were in the room next to me and my three on the 4th night with no power
-Home, very, very sweet home

-Option to take more sleep yesterday morning being an awesome fresh start
-Call in for better priced and more local rubbish removal sign up*
-Innovating way to warm up leftover pizza and it tasting better than night before
(I added lots of chopped greens)

This morning I'm grateful for:

-My animal-loving gratitude mates here and the great pics of their 4-leggeds (Rebecca, what kind of puppy is that?)
-Being already stocked on food in case we get the big snow they're talking about
-A flexible job; if it gets nasty out, I can drive home & log in remotely to do my work
-Enjoying what's left of my favorite lotion and body wash as I confirmed that Brazilian Nut has been discontinued after using it for years
-My sister, essential personnel at the VA, who continues counseling vets despite not receiving a paycheck; and all others in this same terrible predicament
-Patient Rosie - we hunted last night for her ball that's MIA, tonight we'll move on to more uncommon locations for her favorite toy!

I am grateful this morning for:
• seeing online that one of my favorite little restaurants in my parent's town now serves avocado toast which I've been wanting to try since reading about it in articles about millennials.
• deciding to drive home one day earlier than originally planned in the hopes of having lighter traffic.
• browsing public library ebook collection running into a book that inspired me in my teen years and borrowing it to reread now. (The Art of Loving by Erich Fromme)
• great and plentiful pickleball play outdoors yesterday.
• having dreams about pickleball in my sleep and hopes that it might help improve my game.

-New beginnings, always, with sincere thanks for Rebecca who gives us a new beginning every month
-Getting off work at noon yesterday
-Spending a quiet afternoon and evening at home with the kitty girls doing things I want to focus on more in 2019
-Crawling into clean sheets and blankets with clean PJs ... aaaaaaaah
-Listening to one of Beth's CDs last night for the first time in a long time with pure joy
-Staying awake until midnight so I could calm the two kitties who don't like fireworks
-Good friends
-Having enough ... I saved the best for last

Happy New Year, Rebecca and Stephanie and others!

On this January first morning, I am grateful for:
• lots of good exercise yesterday
• an inspiring blog post that I read this morning
• work began yesterday on photo scanning and video project
• local ducks surviving and being beautiful
• touring local wall murals with mother yesterday
• also visiting local animal shelter and meeting the cats

For a quality 2019 I propose we make time every day to write 5 things we appreciate, are grateful for in our lives. With this tradition it makes it easier to practice kindness, and even contribute to the restoration of peace in the world. I have found bonds with others who share this practice and thank them sincerely. I welcome every other person who decides to add thankful comments whenever they are motivated to do so.
Wishing everyone a healthy, happy and prosperous 2019.
My list of five will happen 1 January 2019 to start a year of gratitude for me.

"I truly believe we can either see the connections, celebrate them, and express gratitude for our blessings, or we can see life as a string of coincidences that have no meaning or connection. For me, I'm going to believe in miracles, celebrate life, rejoice in the views of eternity, and hope my choices will create a positive ripple effect in the lives of others. This is my choice." Mike Ericksen
