-Kitty mani-pedi done for all three, along with treats and brushing for good behavior
-Another solid night of sleep
-Finding a New Year's Day yoga class option at my favorite place that I might attend if we don't have predicted icy roads

-Finding a friend who's willing to go with me to a hiking spot I've wanted to try for a few years now
-My wise decision to have my knee checked out before I push too hard and possibly damage it further

As we enter the last weekend of 2018 here's hoping we can finish off most of the goals we set for ourselves. That we take some time to look back at what went right and congratulate ourselves. That we don't berate ourselves for the things we didn't do, but put them on the list of things we will accomplish in 2019. Let's celebrate the joy of just being us!

The best cure for stressing is to count your blessings...and a long walk won't hurt either!

Never give up what you want the MOST for what you want at the MOMENT!

-An article I read this morning about cool upcoming 2019 astronomical events
-Listening to a good friend's stories about her myriad Christmas foibles (she had TWO family meals to prepare), and laughing so hard I was almost crying
-Sharing lots of heirloom oranges, spreading sunshine and Vitamin C
-Work deadlines flowing really well due to the office being like a tomb
-Weather permitting, plans to walk around the Plaza and see the fabulous lights after work ...
-My favorite coffeehouse that closed in my best location has TWO spots on the Plaza, so I'll get a hot tea to walk around with

• Desi and Lucy eating well again after apparent 3 day bug. I was so worried, but all is well now.
• Their vet for reading my long email and spending a relaxed amount of time on the phone to discuss.
• Great pickleball play yesterday morning.
• Offer to add a second class before or after the class I teach on Sundays.
• Possibility that a colleague of L will be able to help a friend of mine in need of a substitute teacher.

“At one time, most of my friends could hear the bell, but as years passed, it fell silent for all of them. Even Sarah found one Christmas that she could no longer hear its sweet sound. Though I've grown old, the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe.” ~ Chris Van Allsburg, "The Polar Express"

This morning I'm grateful for:

-Being raised with manners that became automatic; it's served me well
-Dinner out with good friend tonight at my favorite cafe, courtesy of Pixie kitty
-Getting a good little exercise streak going
-A clean house
-Getting a load of laundry taken care of
-Cleo coming out to say goodbye this a.m. when I couldn't find her and called her (I like to do a headcount coming and going); I think coming when called is not necessarily a cat trait - Ha!
-Being able to go back to sleep after something woke me 4 a.m.-ish

Today I'm grateful for:

-A quiet, lazy day at home yesterday chopping veggies, reading a good book and curling up with kitties (crock pot wafting wonderful smells by afternoon time)
-A short 20-minute bike ride to get blood flowing in the leg muscles, then lots of stretching = soreness mostly gone today
-The new company managing our cafeteria, especially loving the global menu (today was amazing pad thai with lots of good veggies)
-One of the local Meetup hiking groups I signed up being very active in winter, not letting earlier darkness and colder temps deter from scheduling events!
-Joyful that I can get back to exercising regularly (still a bit cautious though)

This morning I'm grateful for:

-Hand warmers they gave us for while out lighting/relighting and snuffing luminaries; it drizzled off and on so they were THE bomb!
-First pick of where to work; always the woods because it's incredible to hear the Native flute player's music drifting through the woods with the babbling creek
-Discovering how much I love the pan flute as I saw a Brazilian/Peruvian duo play pan flute and guitar together
-While not my favorite volunteer night (due to the rain), it was still very fun and always great people
-Knowing the difference between soreness and injury (I expected soreness)
-The warmth of my heating pad and my sweet 4-legged heaters; my teeth were almost chattering as I was cold down to the bone

Indeed, here's to another new beginning on this first day of December, with many thanks to Rebecca, as always! emoticon emoticon emoticon

This morning I'm grateful for:

-This amazing we practice we share in
-A wonderful evening with two friends enjoying all the beauty the Arboretum Luminary Walk had to offer!
-A misty, foggy, mystical night with perfect weather for the luminaries, waterfalls, bagpipes, carolers, campfires, steel drums, gnome villages, trains, Native flute music, hot apple cider, and so many stunning holiday lights and decorations emoticon
-Hope that I can start being more active again this month without further injury! emoticon
-That activity starts today (unless weather cancels it) when I'll do my favorite volunteer gig, helping with all the luminaries, all in all 5-6 hours of walking
-Planting it in my brain to do LOTS of stretching after I'm done!
-No plans on Sunday other than to spend the day with the three diva kitty girls! emoticon emoticon emoticon
