The best exercises are the ones that the Dr or Physiotherapist has recommended. There are a variety of reasons for a hip pain .... it might not even be CAUSED by the hip.

In my case the hip pain itself was caused by my spine .... 2 problems with it ... arthritis and scoliosis. That limited the particular exercises I could do because in a lot of cases what was good for one was bad for the other. This is why you need qualified input.

Several of the gyms in our area are having a price war and do a bare-bones membership for ten dollars a month. Have you called around?

1. Talk to your doctor
2. Anything water related is good on joints. Maybe a water aerobics or even laps in the pool.

I agree that you should speak with your doctor and possibly even get a referral to a Physical Therapist. We really can't recommend exercises here ifyou have physical issues as any suggestions may cause further harm.

The best exercises are those that your doctor cleared you to do!

What exercises would you suggest for a bad hip?
I've heard joining a gym and use an elliptical or swim is the best, but I can't afford a gym membership at this time.
